Got same car in Florida too. Hate heat and mosquitoes. Haynes manual is vague, but my research says maybe 25 ft-lb torque on drain plug. You may want to fill new filter with oil too. My corolla doesn't burn oil, but I think I have a valve cover oil leak.
I work at a large oil change chain. Not saying which one. And we don't lube the gasket. It's unnecessary. We do however replace the plugs gasket. If it's metal, every time. If it's fiber.....every other oil change

My neighbor was changing the oil and I see that he used 5w30 and I asked him how you know that this is the grade of oil and he showed me the oil cap that says 5w30
I see that this is an old post. but do you live in Seminole county or have any male friends or female friends that can walk me through this in person. It looks so easy and tired of paying at the station. Hope to get a response even if you do not live close. Thanks
That scissor jack is the cheap one Toyota has in the trunk. If it fails in any way, the car falls on you if you are under it anyplace and you likely die or are badly injured. Very stupid move.
+Emmanuel Gonzalez yeah I have, there are sharp corners where it goes over the exhaust cam shaft that need silicone when you put the new one on., probably where its leaking too..;-)

The filter is on its side. You’ll just spill it all out if you fill itZ

how many litters of oil an 96 corolla takes?
it takes almost 4 liters
have you done the valve cover gasket with the spark plugs O gasket ? seems my car is leaking on that section.
