Even laying face down is not safe. Fortunately for you, the fuse creates a "dead" zone where shrapnel is not projected, it is around 60 degrees or less. You must have placed the grenade with the fuse facing you, thus finding yourself in the safer zone. Had the grenade been placed any other way, half of the ATM would have landed on you along with the shrapnel shower. You were very lucky, but I hope you do not play Russian roulette with fate anymore.
I have much respect for these guys concerning firearms and the safe way they handle them....but the things they do with grenades is something else again. Not a good idea guys!!
