Ex-IDF Paratrooper's Warning to Biden, World Leaders

- A foreign policy and security analyst and ex-Israel Defense Forces paratrooper is warning about the dangerous powder keg brewing on Israel's northern border while also offering up some important warnings to world leaders who are pressuring Israel.
Daniel Flesch said Israel's current battle against Hamas is the "longest war for Israel since its war of independence" in the late 1940s - a struggle sparked on Oct. 7 when Hamas terrorists attacked and killed over 1,200 innocent Israelis. With U.S. President Joe Biden and other world leaders beginning to put pressure on Israel to amend war operations, Flesch said it's essential these leaders understand to whom they're communicating.
"When you start putting pressure on Israel to take certain steps and how it conducts this operation, you have to consider the audience, and the audience is not just Israel," he said. "A lot of it from this [Biden] administration is obviously their constituents ... their voters." Flesch continued, "But also, Hamas is watching, other bad actors in the world are watching, and so Hamas has been rejecting ceasefire deals left and right."
He believes the terror group is likely assuming they have the Biden administration on their side "putting pressure on Israel" and not pressuring Hamas. Rhetoric from world leaders, he argued, is thus deeply important. Israel has repeatedly made it clear the nation is no longer interested in being surrounded by terrorists bent on its destruction, with Oct. 7 proving to be a day validating fears of violent incursion.
While some have questioned Israel's war strategy, Flesch said the Israeli government has three clear objectives - and the first of which is returning the hostages still being held by Hamas to Israel. "The second objective is to dismantle the Hamas political and military infrastructure in Gaza," he added, explaining the central objective is to render Hamas "unable to perpetrate an October 7th invasion and massacre again."
Flesch said the third objective is to restore overarching security to Israelis - something that was shattered during the October attack. Considering Israel is intended to be a place of "refuge and security for the Jewish people," he said the ramifications for what happens next are massive. Watch him explain.

Daniel Flesch is a fantastic extemporaneous speaker. Of course I realize this was a friendly interview, but that was a better presentation of the issues than I have yet seen from any of Israel’s official public relations/ spokespeople. His modulation and speech patterns don’t fall into the brash bellicosity that has characterized a lot of of Israel’s public communication covered in mainstream media. He pauses to explain with patience what I think most Israeli officials must (frustratedly? angrily?) feel should be self evident. As a result, he presents himself as deeply involved and still rational. He is not un-biased, he is of course invested and does not dissemble about that, but he is rational.
I appreciated his stressing the absolutely unique military nuances of a campaign in Gaza. It is something I think most people don’t really grasp. Military operations in urban terrain are among the most complex tasks any military can be called to carry out. The political complexities in part stem from that.

Daniel my friend I served in military in West Africa and founght in Liberia and Sierra Leone Civil wars. And know when to attack the enemy and when not to and when to retreat. International law is very specific in that you dont attack embassies, place of worship, schools, hospitals, etc, etc. But the jewish state and it leadership don't give about international law. The problem with Israel is that it doesn’t talk about those things it should tell the world about. Jews were thrown out of Arab countries and became refugees. Israel doesn’t ask for their being recognized as refugees who are qualified for aids as the Arabs are doing. Syria annexed Israeli Territory before Israel took the Golan Heights. But it’s only the Golan Heights that the world hears all the time. The Syrian annexation is never talked about. There are internal refugees in Israel but they are not in the narrative and no one talks about sending aids to them. It’s time Israel also highlighted these situations which the world ignores.
You need to hear both sides before you can make an intelligent decision about the situation.
