I think this was typical Gold where he wanted to explain what he thought Doyle had with actually having thought about the hand, once it came out of his mouth he realised he was actually beaten by the bullshit he just made up!

Phil Laak is right. It drives me nuts when players start gabbing about the hand when there's three players in the pot.
It's worst when there's side pot action. The players still to act often think just because a player is all in means it's ok to talk about their hands, not realizing they could say something that could impact that players odds.
I love Phil but he is the worlds worst for chatter during a hand. It’s like helmuth telling someone there overreacting 🤣
@@stevenwalker9013 Chatter is okay as long as it's not too loud. Discussing the hand being played 3-way is a no no.
I'm with Negreanu, if you are actually in the hand, you should be able to talk about it.

the last hand with brad booth and phil ivey, when benyamine was talking about the extra value from the 300k cash was about ivey having extra value by not having to declare the cash at the cage for tax purposes. i think gabe knew that and was covering for benyamine's indiscretion on tv. benyamine's comment certainly wasn't about ivey's safety.

Jamie Gold winning the WSOP convinced himself that He is a legend in his own mind.
He may of been a good tourney player, by winning the wsop, but oh boy he's a terrible cash game player.
He had insane luck during that WSOP run, dealing out cooler after cooler after cooler.
JG winning the WSOP convinced me that this game has no justice in big MTTs

Hilariously maybe, but over indexing on GTO and other modern analysis is also foolish. Where real poker happens between human beings is somewhere in the middle -- fundamental game strategy, and awareness of GTO concepts. In other words, what Gabe Kaplan says is no less interesting today, nor is it incorrect
To be fair GTO wasn't really a thing 10-11 years ago when these were made... Gabe has been playing at these levels with these very same players so he does have some interesting insight as to what's going on....the game within the game.

@@pelomocho8567 it’s just a very nasty flop for his kings. Flush / straight options - and booth called his 14k re-raise - so easy to put him on a pair or suited connectors - for which this flop was great, both for sets / straights / flush draws.

That play was ghastly. He raised it from what 75 to 115? Horrible. No fold equity what so ever. How is this a good play? If he jams river it’s a fine play, especially when the club comes in. But the check back makes it literally setting 40k on fire. Keep congratulating him on losing money though, great play lmao

Yeah he's steaming real bad. 300K to win 50K in the middle. Meanwhile Ivey is still in the poker scene 20 years later playing high stakes and Brad Booth owes everyone in Vegas money but can be seen playing 3-6 limit in random rooms in Arizona.

He was on my left at $2k NLHE WSOP event in 2006 (around the time of this taping). I think he was high. I had no idea who he was, but grateful to make flushes twice and he paid me off both times. It was my first table at my first WSOP and I am so happy I didn't see this before.

Real poker, back when the guys had nearly all of their own action. The upcoming remake of HSP will never have the same feel because you know that most of the guys at the table probably have less than 10% of themselves.

Love the show (then and now) but I don't think they all had 100% of their action.
@@refinedsugar you’re 100% correct. Take Eli Elezra for instance - he is notorious for borrowing and scamming. Also, mike matusow (not a scammer, just a degen) rarely had much of his action, by his own admission.
11:46, personally I think a nice bet sizing from Esfandiari would be $130k - $132k ... it doesn't look too bluffy at all, rather it looks more like a value bet. An all-in would look a little too suspicious and Benyamine with two-pair would be sitting there with a great bluff-catcher against something like AKo/AQo. Just my thoughts.
Obviously I don't have several million dollars and will never be one of the poker greats, but I would've played it that way and if I was wrong then tough luck/bad timing (not necessarily bad play).
That bet would be snapped off almost instantly in 2020

May that was a new session and Ivey did not have enough information, like calling there need’s information like how that session is going what type of player Brad is, how often is he bluffing there and how often he actually has the goods. Without any of the above information, Kings could be beat there, and if Kings are beat there and Ivey calls that is bad call as Ivey would be almost dead. 19:01

Benyamine only called the 4 bet rather than shoving.. antonio had a plan from the flop then shyed away at the 1 crucial moment

Antonio's plan was to get all the money in to get benyamine to fold and then got scared away on the river.. why else would he 4 bet with 4high if he didnt think benyamine was weak enough to fold

Ehh it may not have been the correct play but there's not much incentive to call there because if you're Phil, you have only a small amount of money invested and you're calling off your entire stack. Even with KK, it's generally not worth it. Just a good play from the other guy, would be an even better call from Phil though. Opponent could have had AA or a set

Would a set really ship it all in like that? Doubt it... I think that was a bad fold as well. Tough call yeah, but if he had anything he wouldn't ship it in like that
AA was the hand Ivey put him on. But for some reason, there IS the possibility of a straight, so Yukon can rep those kind of hands like AA and sets (although highly unlikely a good player takes this route with the over shove on flop) and straights.
Looking back, Ivey probably makes the call considering how insane the shove was. Only the worst of the worst players shove there.
Could of been the best call of all time, but instead it was the best bluff of all time
