Can I ask, should it not be "Il y a beaucoup DES voitures dans la rue"?

+Scotty2H No. "Beaucoup" is *always* followed by "de," then a noun without article. "Beaucoup de voitures"; "beaucoup de sorties." I'm still not exactly sure why, but there it is.
