Veera ballala 3 Wikipedia page says this -
With an intention of confronting the Muslim invasion, Veera Ballala III founded a second capital called Hosapattna on the banks of Tungabhadra river, which according to historians Henry Heras and William Coelho, later came to be called Vijayanagara, the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire.

There was lot instances that Hosur is Hosavidu and also lot of speculations.
Multiple Mysore Gazetters from 1890's(Pg.no.50,Pg.no 107, Pg.no.1399) and Epigraphia Carnatica Volume X (Pg.XXXII, Gd.49)- say that Hosur is Hosavidu.Yet, the question remains. There's need of strong inscriptional proof.Hope we'll get it some day soon.

Also William Coelho's " The Hoysala Vamsa" Book (Pg.229) has mention of Hosavidu is Hosur, Gauribidanur Taluk and related speculations.
