One gram is much too heavy. I think Rodio-Craft makes a .4g spoon (NOA-L). There might be others. It will be much easier to cast. Use the heaviest line that feels good with your rod. That will help to make the casting smoother. The lighter spoon will not sink as much as a 1g spoon, so you may have to fish where there is less current.
I carry a couple spoons once made by Shimano with a very slim profile and nearly 1.5G in weight, especially for fast waters. BUT, the advice offered by Christopher Stewart is the wisdom of experience being shared here.

Not once did he call this method of fishing tenkara tho... he said "testing out daiso spoons "with" a tenkara rod.
