    Great to see a knife channel with some variety and 'different' knives for a change, beyond just the usual Spyderco/Civivi/etc. slabs of supersteel and G10, which all kinda look the same after awhile. Nicely done, thx!

    the folding razor is basically a mini havalon piranta for slightly cheaper, or approximately the same price depending on where you buy it. the mechanism for how the blades lock in are even identical to havalon's system.

    It's nothing special on paper, but I just grabbed a Ruike 661, it's a ridiculously slick little knife and $25. It's got a great swedge and crowned spine, a nice grind, the pivot is plenty smooth, and overall it feels kind of like the ideal inexpensive EDC.

      I see they make a SS 661 framelock, as well as a G10 liner lock; thanks for the tip, I’ll check it out.
      But take a look at the P801-SF. Pretty little knife with blue accents, and a framelock for $29! Mine came razor sharp and fires open. It’s no ZT, but you can’t beat the functionality for the price. Still like my RAT 1 D2 as the best super low budget knife, but the 801 is close.

    Hello from the UK. We have crazy knife laws because roadmen in London like shanking each other. If you're looking for an EDC carry option which is legal, technically speaking (you still need a good reason to carry it regardless) is a Whitby Mint. Its amazing for a £25 knife. Its razor sharp, great in the hand and well made. I love whitby knives, I have a load of their less legal knives and this one is arguably better. They're great for their pricepoint.

    Blade steel is not a metric for price. Going from the absolute cheapest 440 to the M390 super steel is negligible in price. Instead of the $2 of 440 the knife would use, it would use $6.50 of M390. So an extra $4-5 is negligible even when you add in the extra $0.20 of increase in production difficulty due to its toughness, especially when a knife gets to around $100. So instead of selling the knife for $80, it has to be $84.50. Big deal. I see knife companies charging $20-50 more for a super steel, and that's nonsense, unless it's a machete that uses a ton of steel.

    • @michaelmay5453
      @michaelmay5453 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No more production costs because of "toughness", the same tools are used for the same period of time. Also, again 390 is NOT a "super steel" and anyone who refers to it as such doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

    • @SyndicateOperative
      @SyndicateOperative 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelmay5453 The same tools being used for the same period of time incur more degradation depending on the material they're being used on.

    • @michaelmay5453
      @michaelmay5453 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SyndicateOperative Toughness refers to something else, not the hardness of steel but rather how much it can take before a bend break.
      Nevertheless a WC tool edge will take no more wear from a M390 than a 440 steel. In fact, it would probably take less wear.
      In fact, spring steel poses a much harder challenge since that has a higher toughness. That will wear out the tool far faster than M390 (which still isn't a "super steel").

    A knife I've really been surprised by and been enjoying is some off brand named Eafengrow. They actually put some quality materials and design into some of their knives. I'm pleasantly surprised for the price. For $28, the knive has G10 scales, D2 blade, roller bearings on the pivot, and just all around really well made knife for several times the price, much less for less than $30.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah there build quality is good, but they lie about the steel they are using and get caught constantly, they say it's d2 it's not it's 8cr, eafengrow is a company that cons their buyers, they did some oem work that also was caught being bs, but they fixed it, but they still doit on there own stuff

      @@NeevesKnives The first video linked above was aired 1.5 years ago so hopefully??? I did buy an Eafengrow CH3001 recently. Big, sharp blade. Beautiful smooth action, tight, centered. Good detents and the liner lock contacts 100%. Nice knife. It says D2 on the blade but I can't confirm that it's correct. The only flaw was that the G10 edges could be a bit more rounded. Easy 5 minute fix. Whatever the steel I'm happy with it for $27.

      That's amazing Heather, and I'm sure if you look around through some of my videos you will find more utility style blades that would work great. The Kershaw Leek comes to mind, it's an assisted knife, but an amazing one

    I love practical, useful knives that I can actually use in day to day life so most of my knives are little. Between 2 and 4 inches. I do have a couple large ones though. My favorite is my svord beech handle peasant knife. A fantastic work horse and easy to replace handle when it eventually wears out or breaks from daily use.

    How well does the lock work in the left hand to close one-handed? Many knives simply don't work well for left-handed people.

    The 2nd Knife. The one with replaceable razors is great to use on the farm (To castrate animals). Much more manipulable than a scalpel for that work.

    I'd love to see a strength test of those little replaceable razors, chicken farmer here that has to do alot of fine cutting of rather tough plastic belting in tight spaces often with alot of chickens bouncing around my hands as I try to work. If the blade is tough enough it would be perfect especially with the style of grip I'd actually get enough pressure of the tip to be able to cut properly and with the size it would be small enough to minimize the concern of accidently nicking one of my flappy buddies. Would love to see a good stress test.

    I would love to see you review a knife from Off-Grid knives. They seem to be of considerable quality. I'll be ordering their Cayman XL very soon.
