    I love the simplicity of the SH-01a step time sequencer.
    1) It spits out CV & Gate that is octave scalable. Great for controlling my SCi Pro One or Roland SE-02 or other CV & Gate synths.
    2) up to 4 notes per step. Pretty impressive.
    3) 100 steps x 64 memory locations.
    4) Super easy & fun to use. Works well.
    5) You can trigger in the note timing via a drum machine with a trigger out.

    Hello everyone, I have a very huge problem with my roland sh01a. I want to transpose the sequence, but I really hate to push at the same time the button transpose and the key. So, does anyone of here knows how can I transpose my sequence if I don't want to press the buton transpose? Obiously everything using the internal sequencer of the roland sh01a.

    • @Nu-trix

      The sequencer will play the same sound that you play on the keys at the same time. No possible way to send the sequencer to another synth while playing the local sounds.

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I though your problem was the fact that it went back to the patch 1.1 went turning the SH on (on Booting the synth). But it seems you have a problem went stoping the song. I never had that. Do you have a device sending MIDI to the SH-01 ? A MIDI Keyboard? A USB software? It could be sending a patch change, asking to switch to 1.1.

    "Motion Sequence" would be a nice feature but I would really like to record "Real Time" instead of "Step Writing". That was one thing I really enjoyed about the Roland MC series (303,505,808).

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lando Kenny, yeah, the SH-01a aims to replicate the original SH-101. It’s a choice to be debated. But I agree with you most Roland built in sequencer in the Boutique series is lacking any type of motion control sequence. It’s not like they don’t have it. I have an old JP-8000 and it has a motion sequence.

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the SH-01a is a polyphonic monotimbral synth. Up to four notes using a single sound. The only way would be to record the two sounds in separate recording. It would not be live playing.

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can’t find another way. In the manual it’s simply written « play the keyboard ». I guess it would work via MIDI also, I’ll ask my Roland contact.

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just tested an idea. And YES you can enter notes in the sequencer without a keyboard. Just use the left ribbon controller to tap your notes in.

    If you play legato on the keyboard, does the sequencer record that, or just retrigger each note?

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stuart Duncan , for what I can see, it will simply record the note in the step. You will have te keep the « hold « button down while entering the second note to create the legato.

    Step programming only ... no real time programming. However, you can program polyphonic sequence up to 100 steps. The menu diving is a pain but worth it i guess for the extra features. Folk say its a bit of a one trick pony but compared to my old Arp Axxe its brilliant

    I tested this in my local music store, the SH-01a sequencer doesn't function exactly how the original SH-101 does, it's not as steppy i.e. it's a digital recreation of the original, I know in the original you can't edit the pattern after you program it and it has only 1 live memory (you lose the pattern when you turn the SH-101 off) but it's so simple to use and is so instant it really doen't matter. At least they included it unlike on the Plug-out on the System-1 and System-8.

    Sweet, but I'm freaking out over a simple thing, I'm sure. So, you made a 16 (17) step sequence, all good. Let's say you change your mind and want to cut your sequence to only 8 (9) steps. What you have to do, rewrite all the sequence from scratch? Or there's a way to set the last step

      hey just to let everyone know there is a way to do what OP is asking, lets say you have 18 steps and want to cut it to 16. The last should be on 17, what you do is press load, dial in to the 16th step press the rest key then press load again to input it in. This has usually worked for me. Sometimes you need to repeat a second time to make sure this works for cutting it down to 8 as well or any sequence for that matter

      Plenty of sliders, great sound quality, 4 voice poly, portable, built in sequencer and arp, and one of the closest recreations of the original sh101 sound. This would be a great starter synth. Might want to get the keyboard for it though. Also the Yamaha Reface CS is a great first synth.
