Best growls from Melissa are on Rage Of Light's cover of Twilight Of The Thunder God (all growls from her, some backing growls by the guy who founded the band), Ad Infinitum's song Gravity whick is more like 40% growls compared to their usual

I do feel this is an odd choice. I feel you want to lean into her growls a little more. Songs like 'Animals' 'March of Versailles' or 'Eternal Rain' wuld be good choices if you ever want to hear more growls
I agree with the assessment of blandness, especially if you're seeking something grittier and lower. While I personally find this one nice, (maybe "pleasant"?) I also enjoy more of a harder edge in general. This is good stuff from talented folks, but it feels like it's not taking the kind of chances I like to see. Usually what I look for (listen for?) is an undeniable hook, a nasty breakdown, and/or powerful vocals. It also helps if "BLEGH" is one of the lyrics :) Nice review!
**puts piss bottle away** I agree with the general consensus so far. Decent tune, and that one arpeggio in the chorus was interesting, but while it was very well performed and produced, it just doesnt have enough to be something I'd come back to. As a vocalist she's really solid and I'd be curious to check out her other projects to see if theres anything there that grabs me. I went through my phase of this kinda music about 15 years ago, so it has a bit of a nostalgia factor but the production here is cleaner than it ever was back then when i would listen to Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, Sirenia etc.
You questioned whether you were a prog fan in your Leprous - Contaminate Me reaction, and your comments here about Opeth and Haken prove it, I think. And I am with you 100%! This feels like radio-single Active Rock, for sure. All members are technically proficient at their instrument and the song is well produced and easy-to-digest, but nothing about it is unique or interesting enough to stand out to me.
Hi I am a big fan of Ad Infinitum (I say while wearing my Ad Infinitum shirt) and I can perfectly understand if this is not your thing when you are more used to more gritty and darker metal. You can try the newer tracks like Outer Space which features more growls and the sound is different from the more symphonic sound used here. Melissa started this band as a way to focus more on her cleans and while the band she came from isn't my thing it might be yours, though I have no idea what song to recommend of this band because again not my thing. The band is Rage of Light and I tried to listen to one of their songs I really did but it just wasn't it for me, so hey maybe you are the opposite of me maybe you like her in Rage of Light and not Ad Infinitum totally understandable. Oh there are just a few things I CAN recommend with Melissa as guest vocals there is Warkings with Odin's Sons with warkings she exclusivly growls under the name The Queen Of The Damned. Warkings like giving their guest vocalists stage names, I find it quite endearing. Anyways next song Kamelot with New Babylon featuring Melissa Bonny and lastly Feuerschwanz with their cover of Ding. All three songs I have listed uses her growls more so if you want check it out, I cannot wait until I get to see Kamelot live with two of my favourite bands as support (Ad Infinitum and Blackbriar).
could u react to Charlotte Wessels - the exorcism ? she has a beautiful melodic voice and her growls have so much emotion in them even tho it's not most of the song. Also doesn't sound like a stantard metal song, it's more artsy I believe. thanks
I found when looking for more "something like Nightwish" back in the 00's when they were on a break. A lot of bands fill all the requirements for the "Symphonic Metal salad" and are all musically impeccable but 98% don't have the thing that pops. Can't fault them musically but the finished result is .. uninspiring.
I have to agree with you, Mel. Though technically proficient, I think both the production and composition are incredibly predictable and frankly, quite boring to really listen to. I have nothing substantial against it. I'm sure there are many people that love them, and they're completely right to do so. But it seems likely that those who do haven't already heard so many earlier bands that use the exact same tricks, or they're not bothered by that. But for me, I wouldn't mind never hearing this song again.
It’s sounds so brutal to say I would never listen to this again out of choice but it is absolutely accurate. And not for lack of respect for the band and its abilities because you just know they are good players. That’s me off the Ad Inf Xmas card list 💩
First timer on AI. I like it, but not a unique sound to me. Like Evanescence 20 yrs ago. Symphonic Metal for Dummies? or a killer track on a USD$2.99 "NOW That's What I Call Metal" compilation?
Check out the song "Mechanicals" from when Melissa sang with the band Rage of Light. It SLAPS!
And for all growls, their cover of Twilight Of The Thunder God with backing growls by Johnathan.

Melissa reacting to Melissa. I am seated.
😂 one of the Melissa is definitely more qualified! Side note: I have never sung metal in my life 😂
@@SoulSingerDiscovers But every metal singer hears a good soul singer and throws their horns up.
"Yeah, she meant that shit! 🤘🏻" 😂
@@SoulSingerDiscovers FYI: If you want to hear more of her harsh vocals, her old band Force of Light leaned into that style a lot more.

they are tempered Metal must have in radar
Tempered metal! That’s a new turn of phrase. Thanks for watching my dude 😊

Not that I am an expert on Brittney Spears but this reminds me of one of her songs.... not sure what song though.
That crafty Brittney Spears and her growls 😄
@@SoulSingerDiscovers She slayed the charts heavily. I watch her insta moshing videos regularly.
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Please don't make me go through Brittneys catalogue to find the song that musically sounds similar.

Manchester United - Liverpool FC 0 - 3 (all I had to say today) ;-)
Uurrgghhh!!! The football 🤮🤮🤮
yeah it's a bit bland but 1) solo was cool 2) does every song need to hit as hard as possible? there could be a context in which this song makes sense

Totally right. It’s kind of generic. It brings nothing to the table. Not my jam at all.
Yeah I am always a little wary of being too disparaging because I am aware they are still very good at what they do, but a little to middle for me 😊
Do Fantoma Sister! UTA. Britney is the shit!
