How's the MSS kit different from conventional lowering springs? It basically only consists of springs with height adjustment. Maybe the F80 stock shocks are well built and can withstand the lowering springs without damage but wouldn't the kit need to be paired with suitable aftermarket shocks for something like F30 with base non-adaptive suspension?
I was so glad you get did this video I just purchased these for my 7.5 2019 golf R This is the kept me from just going kept much cheaper VMR springs again I had on a 7R help justify the better spring rates and also add in the adjustability I will say though at a glance that data that you got from your cell phone is still pretty significant there seems to be a Difference throughout that entire span or whatever road you measure those same springs on versus the OEM springs
Superb and thorough video telling me just what I wanted to hear about the MSS springs. Have you/customer fitted them to a non 'M' BMW like M140i, I'm curious to know how they ride compared to stock on EDC? Also on the front the adjuster was on top, could it still be adjusted once fitted? 🤩
Is there a setup available for the M2? It would be interesting to test this as the M2 (n55) ride quality is firm and skittish therefore could be a good fix option
Did you guys not fit the black replacement perch that comes with the kit? And if we want to install without the perch I’m assuming the adjuster has to go at the top of the shock?
Got the kit from you guys end of 2020. Inside was a black rubber perch that seats on the stock damper perch. But if it’s able to be installed without the rubber piece as in this video that means it would be lower than with the perch correct?
im looking at getting bilstein b6 with edc not sure wether to get the full kit from blistein with springs or to get the dampers and this spring set up what would you recommend
Would the improvements in ride and handling be more pronounced in a non-competition F80? I love my M3 but on badly surfaced roads,I think the ride quality even in comfort mode is just far too firm for my liking, especially when the wife and kids are riding in the car.All I get are complaints from them.
Really interested in the MSS springs, but have not seen anything on non-comp spec F80s.. will need to do more research.I’m currently on Eibach Pro-kits and while they give me the stance that I want, the ride quality issue is not addressed.Still rides really firm. Have emailed ur sales dept, but will not commit till I know more. BTW great reviews as always, liked and subscribed 👍🏼
Any idea why M cars are so stiffly sprung out the factory? If anything, it seems like they are getting even stiffer with the new competition models coming out? Do they really not take into account anything other than super smooth German roads during development?
Hi guys, would you recommend keeping the same height drop as with the Eibach setup 25/20 for my m235i? I'm looking forward to trying these out next week... great vid as always. See you soon 👍
Unless doing serious track work I’d say adjust them to where is practical/you like the look of the most. Haven’t encountered any issues with the suspension geometry from lowering on these platforms.
@@EvolveAutomotive Ok sounds good. I was just thinking about ground clearance as it's been fine with the 25/20 drop that I already have... Although going lower is tempting! Thanks for the reply and I'll see you next week 🙌
Yes you can fit just the MSS and then add the Bilstein at a later date, which is exactly what we have done. The combo is for people who want the absolute best road car setup possible, but that’s not to say the MSS doesn’t work great on its own.
We do. They make dampers or full kits. Not spring kits. We have now combined Bilstein EDC dampers and the MSS on this car and it's sublime. Video coming in the coming weeks.
Compact? Sure you don’t mean Competition? They stopped making Compacts many years ago and they didn’t do an M3 version or any with EDC I have driven a stock F80 and to me the very hard ride was a deal breaker despite the car being otherwise ace. Maybe I should try a Competition version. These days you can have comfort and great handling on the road. Ie M5 And the G20 :) Would not be interested in lowering. I am for function over form. Stock M3 looks fantastic anyway. The reason lowering usually means harder ride is due to reduction in suspension travel and the need to prevent bottoming out. A disadvantage of having an adjuster without moving the platform it sits on is that the spring has to be shorter at any given ride height so will become coil bound with less travel than would be the case without the adjusters. I would include in your test a picture of the spring when fitted and the car sitting on its tyres so viewers can see how near to coil bound at a standstill compared to originals. Also some test to see if springs become coil bound or shocks bottom out during a drive designed to test for that while keeping within the bounds of what the car may encounter on the road. You might think that the manufacturers or the Brand would have tested for that but when ever buying aftermarket parts caution has to be exercised. There is some very poorly designed poor quality gear out there. Good idea to use a trusted dealer like veedubmachine for example :) Have been wondering about the EDC Billies. Haven’t sold any yet but would get them for my own F30 when or if it needs new dampers while I own it.
I spun the rod bearings last weekend on my s65 :(. RIP. was 2.5k miles away from replacing with BE bearings. Oh well... Just annoying my n54 from the same era makes OVER double the HP/torque and has had 2000+ pulls with zero engine issues. Yeah every gasket and plastic part has been replaced but the motor is indestructible.
This is why we don’t suggest people wait for a mileage, if you already think you’re going to get them changed, just get them done, it’s not worth the risk. Sorry to hear about your car, are you planning to fix or total loss?
@@EvolveAutomotive Yeah just got that car a few months ago. 2011.3 e92 m3 dct with 84k miles. Should of done rod bearings right away but instead changed the oil over to Redline 5w-40 when I bought it. Figured I go 4k miles on the new oil then change the rod bearings. Didn't make it that far. It happened at full running temp, going from 1st into 2nd. A friend found a motor with 70k miles on it so that will be going in. Bearings getting done before going in.. Shes a pretty roller in the mean time ._.

Great video. Looking forward to when you fit the Bilstein dampers
Fitted already. 😉
never thought I’d say this... the 4 door M3 looks better than the M4!
It certainly does with the wider rear arches. We don't need the 4 doors but prefer the look of the M3 and thats why we bought it over the M4.
Wow really all 4 door BMW’s are hideous

Stock set up way to stiff I agree. I have ohlins road and track coilovers much improved. Can u use the mss with a non EDC car?
You can yes, we have fitted a set to our M2 also which has non EDC dampers, video on that coming soon

I know this is an old video. Was the MSS ever tested against M performance spring kit?
We consider it to be superior to the KW HAS kit which the M Performance one is based on.

Haven’t personally tried it on a non-comp. The killer combo is MSS + B6 EDC, but the MSS alone is a big step in the right direction.

We are currently developing our own custom B6 EDC damper with Bilstein, that is what we are running on our car.
