This whole album is so outstanding that you could trick someone into thinking it's the soundtrack for Touhou 20. The character art all looks like it had been drawn by ZUN's hand.
Everyone did a phenomenal job on this, the artwork, the music, the story, everything is so perfect. Thank you all for your efforts in creating this absolute wonderful piece of work.
Really good stuff! I'm particularly a fan of the second stage's theme, "The Silent River Below the Sunless Sky". It has such a bouncy beat which sometimes sounds like a waltz and the slow pace at the beginning really conveys the start of a new incident. I suppose it also fits being stuck in a sewer for 72 hours. "Unparalleled Grace ~ Heavenly Terpsichorean" is also great. It's so energetic and lively, absolutely befitting of a Stage 3 boss whose job is dancing. One of my last favourites is "Symposium of Nebulas", because of the many shifts in tone in the track but the overall calmness that you could find yourself when your head in in the clouds. The title of the stage may be Nimbus-kissed Solitude but I'd even say that: "La solitude se cumule aux nimbus." (it's a stupid joke) In any case, it's a stellar job from everyone involved!

25:14 This song reminds me a lot of a sonic unleashed song. It carries a lot of momentum and passion to it like someone struggling to hold on to something dear to them. A fading memory in their mind or the vivid imagery of a loved one’s face smiling at them. A deep, pounding desperation at that. The violin strokes and the drums patterns are also what add to that sonic vibe, complimenting the song’s tempo and conveying that almost fearful sensation that toe song evokes. It reminds me of the wind brushing past my face while I run around in any location, wanting to keep that fire in my soul burning for as long as I can manage. So yeah I guess it’s kinda cool.

That was a pretty solid debut! My congratulations to the entire team, they have undoubtedly done a great job. I think my favorite songs are the Stage 3 theme, Hibari's theme, and the Extra Stage theme. On the other hand, generally speaking, I love how you guys have worked on the identity of this album. ALL the elements of this work emanate that identity and make it unique and unforgettable. In fact, I think it is one of the strongest points that you have. me too. she's simply the most tragic character in the album. Though we left her fate open-ended, I personally imagine she can still visit Prifma in Koukyou even after Hosaki had it relocated
I want to say, for some reason the title theme made me emotional. If your goal was to evoke some sort of feeling of first stepping into a festival when young, the bright sights and sounds crashing together in a young girl's eyes as she first feels the wonder of tradition, you've done amazingly. Props to the rest of the album too.
This may be a controversial statement, but I think this is better than the official Touhou 19. The OCs are so cool, and I really really wish this game was a real game. This ost is on my toppest tippiest tier of fanmade game music along with Hollow Song of Birds. Also, the bass on the final boss ost is very sexy. Definitely buying this!
This is an absolutely amazing album! There are so many good songs! My favorite part of this album had to be its use of the (Mahayana) Buddhist theming and its naming of different realms in Buddhist cosmology as well as the use of beings in Buddhist canon. My top three favorites are: 3.) An Okeanid-Sylph's Sky Embodiment (4th Boss) 2.) Starlit Ceremony of Paradise (5th Stage) 1.) Protector of the Evergreen Dharma ~ Floral Guardian (Extra Boss)

Very good album overall ! If i had to make a critic, i'd day that for a final boss theme it doesnt have this epicness, even though the game has a very cheerful ambiance, it sounds more like a boss 2-3 theme it's not this impactful if i can say so. Also, Stage 6 is perfection.
Prifma’s more peaceful theme was done on purpose. We wrote the plot to have lower stakes than usual, which is why her theme isn’t supposed to be grandiose. At the end of the day, she just wants to grant an afterlife of enjoyment to deceased human spirits and ghosts - Emma
I was going to make this long and winded review how this feels like first western Touhou-style album to take a big leap, while actually fully looking and sounding good to me, with memorable songs and fitting designs, that despite being such a massive collab, descriptions and profiles being just right without some massive retcon and Gensokyo ending threat etc. etc. and I guess I'm gonna' do it anyways I do really like it, that being said, there are few things I'd suggest to improve or at least discuss for the next time: - Benji's stuff I feel, feels more like UT fangame music and it has way too long commentary (I know, says a guy that also just writes WORDS WORDS WORDS). This contrasts heavily with something like Slowbro's song, which had like just one sentence that said more than Benji's 10. Again, it might seem restrictive to collaborators, but if you want a genuine Touhou-style experience I recommend limiting yourself with comments to similar amount to ZUN's. - I like the song titles, but I've noticed some fans like to just use long and rare words, I guess to sound poetic, but it can feel a bit pretentious, I rarely ever see something like that with eastern compositions, usually just an obscure reference or pun that keeps it fantastical. - I like the designs, but there's something about them that feels unnatural for Touhou. The poses are right, on some might be the clothing, additions and colore pallete, then again ZUN made Chiyari lately so maybe it's just me. Maybe it's the rainbows and almost transflag color pallete on stage 4 boss and since Frogmask worked (or at least wrote) it, I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional lol - Slight nitpick with final boss' theme. It feels a bit too chaotic and there's so much going on, especially that climax. It is slowly growing on me though. I really like extra boss' theme and its use of old eastern instruments, but it's a shame only one segment of it doesn't use the same instrument, flute. I'd personally wish for one more koto only segment as a break so it wouldn't feel same-y, but artistic differences I guess. - Less of a critique, more of a wish - I really like video's last stage and I almost wish the rest of stages were animated and on this level. - And I do kind of wish there was a japanese translation/version released alongside it, because I think japanese fans would enjoy it greatly as well. EDIT: Sorry for editing this message instead of making a new one.
About the character designs, I wanted to make them look very distinct and memorable on their own, especially in the color palette. I was heavily inspired by Sapphire Panlogism's characters and aesthetic, which is one of the only fan works that truly feels like a canon Touhou game because of these aspects. I do agree that some of them could've been designed better and look more Touhou-ish (examples being Prifma, Numako, and maybe Amika) so I won't repeat the same mistake in the future. I named almost all of the songs, and ZUN sometimes chooses complex artsy words lol, so I did the same. I suppose finding a middle ground would be better. Additionally, I prefer not to restrict my composers from writing their music commentary since it's their own personal work (as seen with Stage 2 lmao). And to conclude it, animating all of the backgrounds would've taken longer to complete the album, so we reserved Stage 6's animation spectacle as something that feels exclusive and special. And we will release the Japanese translation eventually as well! I appreciate your constructive criticism, so I just wanted to clear them out as best as I could! - Emma

I do agree it's a really good fangame, although I enjoyed demo and ex stages in it over 4 and 5th stage. I actually like Numako's design the most next to Hosaki, even though the colour pallete and the hoodie seem modern, I feel like it's a matter of time before ZUN does something like her anyways. Fair point with ZUN also using artistic or symbolic complex or rare words (Bhavāgra). Fair enough with music comments and commentary. Again, just a personal nitpick regarding collab albums, where again, even in BoSM, SP or Canvas of Music-colored Winds I could believe most if not all songs could've had the same composer or followed the same or similar artistic vision, I was close to feeling it here, I'll give you that at least. I personally think some of the Japanese translations for the bosses' names are messed up. People's names are typically arranged as "Last name + first name", or if they're supposed to be English, they end up as "First name・Last name". Hope this helps!
@@plazzap6499 5/4 is astoundingly good. As for 3/4, back in 2021, I would like pretty much any song I came across if it happened to be in 3/4. Even Microintervals, of course. People don't really make stuff in 5/4 but Misora-style songs do it well, as does the 5/4 song that you made for the s5 boss theme.

This album is so high-quality : O All the songs are great, the editing is clean, and the art, especially the character art is so cool! Song-wise, stages 3 and 4 are my favourites < 3 Overall everyone did a fantastic job!
I hope Douko made some friends in Koukyou. She seems like a polite little ghost she deserves some rest after what happened to her.
me too. she's simply the most tragic character in the album. Though we left her fate open-ended, I personally imagine she can still visit Prifma in Koukyou even after Hosaki had it relocated

I want to say, for some reason the title theme made me emotional. If your goal was to evoke some sort of feeling of first stepping into a festival when young, the bright sights and sounds crashing together in a young girl's eyes as she first feels the wonder of tradition, you've done amazingly.
Props to the rest of the album too.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: 2023 is really the year for banger fan albums.

This may be a controversial statement, but I think this is better than the official Touhou 19. The OCs are so cool, and I really really wish this game was a real game. This ost is on my toppest tippiest tier of fanmade game music along with Hollow Song of Birds. Also, the bass on the final boss ost is very sexy. Definitely buying this!
This is an absolutely amazing album! There are so many good songs! My favorite part of this album had to be its use of the (Mahayana) Buddhist theming and its naming of different realms in Buddhist cosmology as well as the use of beings in Buddhist canon.
My top three favorites are:

Very good album overall ! If i had to make a critic, i'd day that for a final boss theme it doesnt have this epicness, even though the game has a very cheerful ambiance, it sounds more like a boss 2-3 theme it's not this impactful if i can say so.
Also, Stage 6 is perfection.
Prifma’s more peaceful theme was done on purpose. We wrote the plot to have lower stakes than usual, which is why her theme isn’t supposed to be grandiose. At the end of the day, she just wants to grant an afterlife of enjoyment to deceased human spirits and ghosts - Emma

I was going to make this long and winded review how this feels like first western Touhou-style album to take a big leap, while actually fully looking and sounding good to me, with memorable songs and fitting designs, that despite being such a massive collab, descriptions and profiles being just right without some massive retcon and Gensokyo ending threat etc. etc. and I guess I'm gonna' do it anyways
I do really like it, that being said, there are few things I'd suggest to improve or at least discuss for the next time:
- Benji's stuff I feel, feels more like UT fangame music and it has way too long commentary (I know, says a guy that also just writes WORDS WORDS WORDS). This contrasts heavily with something like Slowbro's song, which had like just one sentence that said more than Benji's 10. Again, it might seem restrictive to collaborators, but if you want a genuine Touhou-style experience I recommend limiting yourself with comments to similar amount to ZUN's.
- I like the song titles, but I've noticed some fans like to just use long and rare words, I guess to sound poetic, but it can feel a bit pretentious, I rarely ever see something like that with eastern compositions, usually just an obscure reference or pun that keeps it fantastical.
- I like the designs, but there's something about them that feels unnatural for Touhou. The poses are right, on some might be the clothing, additions and colore pallete, then again ZUN made Chiyari lately so maybe it's just me. Maybe it's the rainbows and almost transflag color pallete on stage 4 boss and since Frogmask worked (or at least wrote) it, I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional lol
- Slight nitpick with final boss' theme. It feels a bit too chaotic and there's so much going on, especially that climax. It is slowly growing on me though. I really like extra boss' theme and its use of old eastern instruments, but it's a shame only one segment of it doesn't use the same instrument, flute. I'd personally wish for one more koto only segment as a break so it wouldn't feel same-y, but artistic differences I guess.
- Less of a critique, more of a wish - I really like video's last stage and I almost wish the rest of stages were animated and on this level.
- And I do kind of wish there was a japanese translation/version released alongside it, because I think japanese fans would enjoy it greatly as well.

About the character designs, I wanted to make them look very distinct and memorable on their own, especially in the color palette. I was heavily inspired by Sapphire Panlogism's characters and aesthetic, which is one of the only fan works that truly feels like a canon Touhou game because of these aspects. I do agree that some of them could've been designed better and look more Touhou-ish (examples being Prifma, Numako, and maybe Amika) so I won't repeat the same mistake in the future.
I named almost all of the songs, and ZUN sometimes chooses complex artsy words lol, so I did the same. I suppose finding a middle ground would be better. Additionally, I prefer not to restrict my composers from writing their music commentary since it's their own personal work (as seen with Stage 2 lmao).
And to conclude it, animating all of the backgrounds would've taken longer to complete the album, so we reserved Stage 6's animation spectacle as something that feels exclusive and special. And we will release the Japanese translation eventually as well!

@@TeamEclecticAnthologists Oh yeah, I've realized there was some similarity with SP due to theme and especially stage 1 boss, but I didn't realize it was that much of an influence. I do agree it's a really good fangame, although I enjoyed demo and ex stages in it over 4 and 5th stage. I actually like Numako's design the most next to Hosaki, even though the colour pallete and the hoodie seem modern, I feel like it's a matter of time before ZUN does something like her anyways.
Fair point with ZUN also using artistic or symbolic complex or rare words (Bhavāgra).
Fair enough with music comments and commentary. Again, just a personal nitpick regarding collab albums, where again, even in BoSM, SP or Canvas of Music-colored Winds I could believe most if not all songs could've had the same composer or followed the same or similar artistic vision, I was close to feeling it here, I'll give you that at least.

I personally think some of the Japanese translations for the bosses' names are messed up. People's names are typically arranged as "Last name + first name", or if they're supposed to be English, they end up as "First name・Last name". Hope this helps!

@@plazzap6499 5/4 is astoundingly good. As for 3/4, back in 2021, I would like pretty much any song I came across if it happened to be in 3/4. Even Microintervals, of course. People don't really make stuff in 5/4 but Misora-style songs do it well, as does the 5/4 song that you made for the s5 boss theme.
