Unfortunate for Aivers 😅 got his stone in place first but took the time to try and stabilize it and ended with a tie. Honestly this is pretty freaking cool though!!
Maybe with a higher frame rate camera, a difference could have been seen- but it looked like they were both hands off on the same exact frame with the footage we have. That's a tie.
There was additional drama - them tieing on the event means Luke wins the competition. Aivars winning the event means Aivars wins the competition. The title depended on the outcome of the stone event!
Calling it a draw was the only possible outcome. I mean if they gave it to Luke, Aivars would be disrespected and the same way for Luke if the win would be given to Aivars. I watched it like 1000 times... I think that Luke won it by a fraction but if you give me 10 more attempts I might change my answer and then again... Well done to both of the athletes and the judges as well.👏👏👏
The difference between being ESM or not. Tough one to call on the naked eye after some seconds of consideration There has to be a better way found. But god knows what that is. Is it more cameras and higher frame rate? Like an overhead camera? That would at least give a better angle to view the finish. On the other hand, you could do all that and never have a finish this close again. But it is sport and it will inevitably happen again, in this event or others.
They should have just had them do a tie breaking run because the camera angles weren’t clear and it’s not fair to give it to Luke because giants live always roots for their own.
Watched here on youtube it's literally the same frame.. Amazing/Embarrassing they dont buy better cameras with higher speed for these things.. Or rent one for 1 day... Embarrassing say the least...
Aivars may put his Stone up first but it's whoever releases the Stone. tbh they were both very very very close. If u were frame it aivars still had fingers slightly on it same as Luke it such a hard call but it's probably for the best to call it a draw
I can't believe how close this was! In my opinion, it looked like Aivars had it, but I respect the judges call, they know better than me!
An event tie was spot on.
As far as i can see with the footage from youtube. Their hands come off the stone in the same frame. Crazy finish!
Insane, they were timed perfectly synced left hand to right removal.
Crazy finish, wonder if we'll ever see it again?
Such sportsmanship from both of them. Love to see that.
That's what strongman is all about

i saw it on 0.25 speed and kept pausing every frame and it was the same time. Aivars gets it up first but is slow to get hands of so Luke catches up
It's the exact same frame. Which is the only thing the judges can go off of. A tie is objectively correct.
Rock paper scissors to decide.
Almost happened 😂
Literally the same time. Split the points.

@@ora6925 luke could win or draw to win and aivars had to win.
1:05 it looks like the same frame to me.
One frame they are both on, the next they are both off.

At first I was like Aivars has it but the frame by frame clearly shows they left go at the exact same time. Good call by the refs.
Aivars seems like a really nice guy
He certainly is!
💪💪💪💪
Do it again!
Amazing Atlas stone awosome strong 💪💯😉👍👍🤙✌️the best Luke 🏅🏅🏅💯🔥🔥🔥😎💪💪💪💪
Should be who gets it on the hole first
It’s always been whoever’s hands are off first. It got reviewed from multiple angles hence why they couldn’t decide and was called a dead heat.
That's how I convinced my wife to marry me instead of my brother.
And what if the stone is rocking and falls out after 5 seconds??
Both looked like karate kid doing the crane 😂
Looks like there gonna have to add in ultra slowmotion with how close some of these events are
Give them 5 rounds boxing 🥊 fight.
Descending Atlas Stones has become quite a competitive event. Bravo to the Competitors!
It looks like Luke's hands were off of it for 1 frame before Aivars but it's hard to say definitely without another camera angle.
one in a million moment…

That means more money for GL to spend this is first time this happened so maybe they will look on it
they should run a slow mo camera
They did
Tell you what else has never happened before, Aivars going in to a comp well rested. He'd probably do the stones in about 3 seconds.
I think it's great to see Aivars on form. He is a great strongman doesn't win events but he is always dangerous
Have to feel for the bloke doing the taping, real hard job but suppose someone has to do it.
Rock paper scissors for the decider.
Whos great idea was it to put the end of a video at the beginning?
🏴🏋️🏋️🏋️🏴
Aivars clearly won look 2:05
Aivars may put stone on first but its hands off first
you just gotta call that a tie
Aivars got it
Skipping the stupid spoiler intro again, cus no doubt that showed it before seeing the rest.
Synchronised stone lift
identical.
So make them heavier next time haha?

What u mean Luke was 1 point ahead
Luke was 1 point a head anyway so dead heat was fair
That was so clearly a Luke win by 0.0000000000000000000000001 of a second
😂
Watched here on youtube it's literally the same frame..

This is the first time this has happened and we do have high speed cameras
Luke by a fraction of a fraction
Aivars was robbed
He wasn't because he got his hands off at same time
He was his hands came off first and is stone was up first
