Jane knows this scoundrel is really mocking Emma and her presumptuous false notions regarding Mr Dixon and Jane. Cheeky blighter. Later after we learn Frank’s real intentions ….we discover Frank’s was continually looking for excuses to hang out at the Bates home ie fixing glasses so he could be near Jane.
In the final cut, there was a mention of borrowing scissors. I did not notice, until I read your comment, that it was an excuse to be near Jane. Clever.

because Mrs Weston insinuated that Mr Knightley had given her the piano so Emma is anxious to see it to placate her jealousy, I think lol in fact, in the end of this scene Miss Bates mentions the fact Mr Knightley gifted them all his apples so when Emma was forgetting about Mrs Weston's speculations, she gets a hint of Mr Knightley's consideration for Jane (it's so funny they put his gift right below Jane's new piano too LOL).
I really like that exchange of glances at 2:16 - 2:18 between Miss Bates and Mrs Bates; they are not nearly so oblivious as people imagine them to be. (And why would they be? They've known Jane since she was a little girl.)
The first tune Jane plays is what Emma and Frank danced to at the ball. It’s in the soundtrack. I think Jane is brooding over that time because Frank was acting the careless flirt a little too well.

I read the book in 2016, I was 14. It waa for my A levels exams. I felt sad for Jane Fairfax; Emma (2020) makes me feel even worse for her. Frank Churchill was so annoying
