It is amazing when I imagine the day that bus first rolled out of the factory and the day Chris McCandless was born; both were so entwined with other's destiny that a story might of seeking, loss and ultimately being found could evolve as something beneficial to all of us. Amazing.

I feel heartbroken knowing the bus has been airlifted. Feels like Chris's soul has left with the bus. I hope the bus is kept in a museum.... It's not junk for them to demolish....This bus holds a story. It's as good as historic. I hope people fight hard to save the bus. It deserves to be put on display in a safer place for public view 😞

Verdade. É a história dele. Nunca deveria ter saído de onde estava.

Should’ve stayed where it was. Don’t know who’s idea it was to move it. Stupid. Kind of feels like it’s meaningless now

@@carsonwlki the bus was moved because people were getting stranded and risking their lives to get there to see the bus and it was costing a lot of money, it’s in a museum now but I’d have still rather see it were it was.

@@nobodyspecial6267it's fine if people are risking their lives, it's their lives they could have done it differently. Looks like they want to make money out of this story.

I've been obsessed with his story after reading it. Loved that they made it into a movie. There's a lot we can learn about our own struggles we face thru Chris' attempt to deal with his. Long Live Alex Supertramp! ✌🏻❤️ 🙏🏻

The bus was in better condition when Chris was there.
You were lucky that you got to the bus before it got air lifted away.

I have done 97 countries mostly hitchiking and shared my knowledge with many people about traveling and one of them was Nika Nikanova, who died crossing that river in her hitchiking honeymoon trip on the way back from the bus! I saw two buses already just in safe places!

The bus was a false haven. It seemed to provide better shelter than mother nature could, which is not true, and it also pinned him to that section of land. The bus became a mental coffin, and eventually an actual one. He would've been better off continuing to traverse the land and waterways and fish and hunt, and build his own shelters in more ideal areas as he saw fit. The bus just locked him down mentally, spiritually, and then physically.

He starved to death. What’s the mystery? They said he was 140 lbs before entering the magic school bus and then at autopsy he weighted 67 lbs.

Sometimes, the brutality of the "real word" hits hard and cruel when it just doesn't play out like the fantasy in your mind.

It's a shame that people vandalized and stole stuff off of it over the years.

O ônibus não poderia ter sido removido. Deveria ficar ali fazendo parte da história de um homem.

They could have Simply Built two Bridges across the rivers with all the money they made on the book in the movie Sean Penn and his sister could have took care of this Behavior flown out or boss halfway and all the way out to as well have two places to stay sorry buses voice to text good video I liked it remember he found this bus by accident it's a shame of people destroyed it I'm shocked no one burned it down but anyways he was busy living why we also busy dying they could have preserved his memory and built two Bridges across both Rivers McDonald it but that was a poor choice

He was a fool. Not a hero

I’ll never defend his lack of preparation or his choice of seasons. I travel a lot but home is home. The reason I say this is, we have to remember his thinking was a combination or disappointment in not being able to find someone else like-minded (I don’t mean he was seeking that- I’m saying it’s easy to feel no one “gets” your issues), communing with nature (finding a sense of purpose) and taking in the beauty of it all. I won’t speak for others on this thread, but I think the admiration people have for him is based on his desire to keep pushing himself looking for some kind of peace. I don’t think too many would say he died a hero- I think like- minded people relate to loneliness and/or disillusioned feelings for the concepts of family or others.
It’s just my opinion- I could be way off. I don’t think he’s a hero but I think “fool” is dismissively subjective. He managed a lot of living many people wish they could do (before Alaska).

If you ask the local people or exsperianced survivalist
I think they would call him a fool the life he lived up to were he decided to go and make it in the wilds is totally diffrent he was only a phone call away for help
To head off totally unprepared with lack of knowlge exsperiance to conditions
