How could anybody say this is a waste of time, it gets really good around 18:00 and explains why music is so important to me, It's in my DNA, You have to put your ego aside and let him teach you . Its worth it. I met him one time outside my office hall way at Full Sail while i was grading papers in the early 90s, he was talking kinda loud BS with the staff, I didn't know it was him, I turned around to shoosh him, and he apologized, I crawled back in my cave and died a little that day, JSB your the man.
There’s more to Skunk than what’s on the surface. He’s got skills he can’t say about. Just know this, brilliance has no limits when you add creativity. He has fun with anything given the chance.
Given an opportunity to ask Skunk Baxter a question I would bypass all the technical and music history questions to ask him if he ever noticed that the guitar player in the Muppets Band is based on him.
Some nice points he's raising here not many musicians speak like this ... remember Santana mentioning something like this in an interview but I really love this guy
The open A string of a guitar is actually 110Hz. So the harmonic on the 12th fret is 220Hz. Not 440Hz as suggested in the video. Still an informative watch though!
shunk...hero!!!! a beautiful human being!! tech of the tech.genius.. i would love to ask him what he thought of the orchastron project that metheny did.
Some of you geniuses should try standing up there for an hour or so while you pass on to a live audience some of your expertise as a guitar master - anyone who has played and recorded with Steely Dan deserves that recognition........or sympathy lol! Be nice to the Skunk and the Dan guys!
I didn't know that he'd been to Sweetwater before. I suggested that his booker/mgr avoid SF unless they were going to get or wanted bigger venues do BOTH Mill Valley's SWEETWATER & Oakland's YOSHI'S (as neither are in SF (where a Yoshi's USED to be & a block from the Fillmore). He was at both & a generous guy w/a pushy autograph hound. Where, around the middle, he talks about A.S. & how to hold the guitar - most of my favorite players put their tendons to work on the picking/strumming hand (& strain less with more freedom of/unconstricted motion of that hand for the individual: Buddy Guy, Page, Beck, et al- ergonomics seem to be freer- have freedom of motion in an unrestricted 'free-handed' way. Different strokes‽
We have been following Jeffs career since the early 1970,s....what a great guitar player...When we lose Jeff not only the music world will lose a master but the world will lose a "fucking down home cool fool"....Just a great guy...
yeah, he is/was a consultant for Lockheed, you know the space company (maybe a bit more).. he is one of the futuristic thinkers...i been there for 35 years and I am not one of the futuristic guys, just a plain old rocket scientist.pushing buttons
Waste of time for anyone looking for info about the BOSS SY-300, though he does finally play it a bit near the end. Great player, but I don't think very highly of him now.
Guy's a goof. Sound pressure waves are not part of the EM spectrum. Basic elementary school science. The rest is mumbo jumbo, a few catch phases thrown in he's heard some one say .. no clue.
This guy is awesome. I’ve always loved his guitar playing but I never knew his name.
He claims not to be a teacher. But his gift is undeniable. As he's explaining, I can see everything he's talking about.

I first encountered Skunk Baxter by reading his column "Eclectic Electric" in the early days of Guitar Player magazine. Been following him evrr since.
Given an opportunity to ask Skunk Baxter a question I would bypass all the technical and music history questions to ask him if he ever noticed that the guitar player in the Muppets Band is based on him.
That is the most important thing

This is the coolest thing I've ever seen
Awesome, thanks for posting this!
Brilliant ! As much as I loved SD I really love Jeff for continuing his work (what ever that is!?) great show!

One of the most interesting people I've ever encountered. BTW, he said to study Howard Roberts, so, here goes.
gotta love his sense of humor
Love the Skunk!!!!!! Incredible!!!

Jeff could talk about "nothing" for an hour and it would be interesting...what a cool human being he is.....

What is this Roland product’s name…..model number…..you know….so I can buy one.
Great player and U.S. Defense genius
41:13 and only speech?
Why you would think you know the best things for others still amuses me.
Never knew Baxter outside of his work with SD and the Doobies, he's not your typical axeman, that's for sure.
Jeff "Skunk Works Baxter"
MAN BLUES CUBE Rolland what a sound
Some times the best guitar lessons are without a guitar.
I would like to watch the Skunk eat a bowl of spaghetti !

Too bad he isn't wearing a decent mike. He's hard to hear.

"Blackwater Gearfest" would fit better. Gifted musician but no everyone must like him.
PLEASE GO HOME
Zzzzzz's
Yep....this is a waste of time.....sorry. The Skunk is better than this. Seems like a promotion. Bob Glaub wouldn't stoop so low.
