Cave diving is absolutely terrifying, not only is it highly claustrophobic but very easy to get turned around and stuck leading to your death. These dudes are frikin awesome, great video.
There is nothing more amazing than to see your colleagues discover something astonishing, and to understand that indescribable feeling of discovery. Congratulations to Robbie and the rest of the team. Explore on mates!
Im 17, im a rescue diver and you cant imagine how i would like to form myself and dive there one day, this videos were AWESOME, congrats to everyone involved in it. I will share this becouse i think it needs to be seen by a lot of people, not just becaouse of the quality, but also becaouse of the message it transmits. Hopefully one day i will be diving in those caves, so leave me something to discover :,)
ElectricAir42 wow cool I’m 13 and I’ve got my ocean diving license to 25m (having to go with a certified adult of course) would love to get my dive masters some time. Good luck on yours 👍 Edit: I know I can’t get it at the moment.
I can't begin to explain what GoPro films like these have done for me and my relationship with science. It's fueled my need to question the world around me and continue to explore, and finish school of course . Absolutely amazing.
Thanks to these people who risked their lives. They give us the opportunity to travel with them a lot of thanks, I felt swimming in that world ... spectacular video
Totally jaw dropping footage guys as a diver for the past 16 years I am totally envious and in awe of what you are all having the privilege of doing. Stay safe
This is incredible. Please make this into a consistent series. I get that it was difficult to coordinate divers and camera crews, but this is just too cool.
Time stands still there. It's like there is no beginning and no end. That kind of darkness is timeless. Just peace and beauty and water. Amazing video.
Imagine coming across what looks like a puddle in the middle of the jungle, jumping in and realizing you can’t touch the bottom, and finding another world below. This is the closest thing to a figment of my childhood imagination I’ve ever seen. The simple things like a ladder leading down to a small pool of water is straight out of a fantasy novel. What an amazing world we live in, with some very amazing people who possess an unbridled drive to go beyond what most of us could possibly dream of. They must feel like a small club who has a secret (which they are), and I could see how something like this could come to define one’s existence. It has to be a very powerful force. Thank you for this wonderful access and for doing what you do.
THESE VIDEOS NEED TO BE SHARED AND SPREAD WORLDWIDE! A MASSIVE THANK YOU! To the people who made this possible this is absolutely stunning and we MUST MAKE PEOPLE AWARE!!! WHAT A TREASURE!! THANK YOU! THIS NEEDS PROTECTION!!
Thanks for doing the exploration! I love learning about other cultures and discoveries about history! Good job everyone who partook in this exploration!
I wish i could put how i feel about this video series into the appropriate words... I'm a filmmaker in a small town of Montana, and up until now I thought the hidden places I've witnessed that a single digit number of people including myself have seen with our own eyes was something that could not be topped, the feeling of knowing that I've found something so spectacular is incredible even on the minor scale of my findings compared to this, I can relate to what these archaeologists, divers, and overall the people and their opinions that I saw here can only be described as the true definition of an extraordinaire. I cannot thank everyone that was involved in this enough for it has inspired me and I'm certain every other viewer immensely! Keep up the good work guys, if I dare say, if I see any opportunity to pursue a way to one day witness this for myself with the goal of aiding in the preservation and education that comes out of these findings, it was you that made it happen. Well done!
One of the greatest things I've ever seen! Thank You! I've watched this several times over the course of several months and I am awe struck everytime! THANK YOU!
Cant believe i was in this area 3 times in the past 10 years and had no clue that these caves were here. Know a bunch of senotes and smaller systems but this is just awesome
When there is some people used GoPro for a real deal, meanwhile out there just for selfies and vlogging their own daily life.. felt like "ughh.." Keep making more content like this, im trying to make one too, hope its not just cool to be shared, but worth and inspiring for the world today and later.. Great job to all amazing people on this exploration!
1:53 Isnt "Our goal was to bring people, which haven't been exploring yet, to exploration and raise awareness" the exact opposite of "we're going to have this cave's formations protected at some point" ? In Part II, you complain about other divers shattering these ancient pots. But isn't that the consequence of raising awareness and getting more people to explore?
I interpreted it as his way of showing what beauty you can find while exploring, and I think he’s optimistic that people won’t do that. Yet you’re right, most people won’t be as cautious as they should be while their out and about. Worse yet, some might go out of their way to destroy these things, just as you say. I guess I’m just hopeful same as he is that maybe we’ll be better some day ya know?
I would love to see and study more fauna found in these amazing cave systems! The olm (Proteus anguinus) and the Texas blind salamander (Typhlomolge rathbuni) are among some of the most fascinating creatures still alive today.
I live 7 years in Cancun and I try to go anywhere to know more about the history. Cozumel, Tulum, Coba, Chichén Itza, Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres and obviously Yucatán and always i learn something new, I love the people, the food, everything.. The are a lot cenotes... named "ruta de los cenotes" the Mayas used for sacrifices on the name of his gods "god of water, sun, earth and more" It's amazing. I hope keeping like protected areas and be safe because believe are not some places the are unique and protected by "alux" so be safe.
I just finished watching all three of these, and I'm absolutely blown away. Fantastic job! Do we have any idea when these caves were filled with water?
So amazing, I'm absolutely fascinated by what could be down there. The floor of that cave is likely covered by fallen rocks and there might need to be some careful excavation work done to get to the true cave floor to see what may be there. Those bears didn't climb down from the top of the sky-lit ceiling, they walked in from a cave entrance, some 15k odd years ago. So enthralling...
in case anyone wants more of this there's a whole second series with Robbie trying to find the link between Yab Yum and the other rivers. It's called the Vanilla Sky Project cave exploration, it's on Vimeo
I don't know if this was explained or not, I may have even heard the explanation in another video but do they think this was a dry cave at one time? Filling up with rain water over hundreds if not thousands of years? Curious as to how they got so deep into the cave without scuba gear(Obv).
You picked some very apt music GoPro thanks. (12:41, was this William Ryan Fritch's work please?) Just perfect to go with the stunning stalactites & stalagmites. Stalactites go down and they might, but can't, go up.
helpdeskjnp in some cases but not all cases. pollution filtering through the limestone due to particular western farming practices is an issue, such is huge mega developments that occur in the riviera maya area of mexico.
i have just started freediving and the reason i love it is just what they are saying..when you are diving it feels like you are on an alien planet. you are not the boss anymore.
Cave diving is absolutely terrifying, not only is it highly claustrophobic but very easy to get turned around and stuck leading to your death. These dudes are frikin awesome, great video.
HUGE Props to the whole Divecrew & the GoPro Media Team! This documentary was absolutely INSANE!! Aamzing work - Videography and Editing-wise.

Yeah I agree. This shit was absolutely mesmerizing and infinitely beautiful.
I've never been more amazed in my life. Imagine the places we haven't discovered yet. Truly fascinating!

Absolutely amazing series! We need more of this in so many different ways. My wife and I enjoyed these shorts!
This may be perhaps the greatest and most unique cave system in the world along with cultural artifacts. Quite amazing.
Thanks for doing the exploration! I love learning about other cultures and discoveries about history! Good job everyone who partook in this exploration!
I can only thank you all for enlarging my world, my knowledge and our heritage in (literally ; ) such a profund way! I'm AMAZED!

I can't believe this has been on TH-cam for three years and I'm just seeing it now! This is an amazing documentary!
This is what life is all about, to explore and be surprised by the beauty this universe has for us.
Love this series, makes me appreciate this so much more. Also makes me realize what I'm missing out on by not getting certified in scuba diving.
One of the greatest things I've ever seen! Thank You! I've watched this several times over the course of several months and I am awe struck everytime! THANK YOU!
Everything about this series is brilliantly amazing, music throughout is so good too
That's amazing! And the clarity of the water is astounding!
I’m thankful to at least have seen this in video. Another world in those caves and so much more that’s undiscovered.
This is such an amazing series, among many others. Please don't stop doing what you do GoPro, these videos are fantastic :D

I think the raising awareness part INCLUDED respecting and taking precious care of the caves and items they hold.
It is an amazing project and so glad their efforts managed to discover new passages that connect two massive caves.
This is the most amazing thing that I've ever seen! ! please make more videos about these amazing caves .
Thrilling scaring yet so beautiful

Amazing series!
This is great. I love Tulum...been there two times in the past 10 years. Good food, good people, great beaches, and apparently amazing diving!
Who the hell would give thumbs down to this video? This is beyond amazing information!
So Awesome!! Water clarity is inredible. Beautiful
I am so glad someone has the guts to do this cave diving because I do not. I love viewing cave diving videos. I could watch them for hours.
Strange name for the cave, it means Father and Mother in Tibetan.
Some parts of this make you feel like some prehistoric leviathan is lurking in the darkness. This is nightmare fuel for sure.
I just finished watching all three of these, and I'm absolutely blown away. Fantastic job! Do we have any idea when these caves were filled with water?
The shot at 3:25 is phenomenal

Quel cadeau inestimable vous nous offrez.. 😍😍😍 ..MERCI 🙏
Near my house there is a big lagoon that people say its bottomless, no one ever swim there or navigates, kinda weird place, yet beautiful.
Will891410 wow! Where is that??
cristina-calfucci
I'ts called Lagoa dos Barros, in Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul state.
Look for enchanted river in the philippines. It's so deep that no one has ecer reached the bottom.
This was epic! :)
A beautiful documentary. Man, I want to dive there.

If you watch the video you'll see theres stalactites n shit. They only form like that in dry caves.
12:52 what animal exactly is that?
I'll be wondering too
I think according to the segment’s description, maybe that was the bear remains from Stone Age? I didn’t watch all of it:(.
You picked some very apt music GoPro thanks. (12:41, was this William Ryan Fritch's work please?) Just perfect to go with the stunning stalactites & stalagmites. Stalactites go down and they might, but can't, go up.
.....sorry, just saw the end credit.
6:03 look at the head on the rock formation. Bottom left
oh yeah Squidward’s house, nothing new. 😌
Very strange. Has perfect eye, and perfect pupil. This was created naturally though.
I want more of this series
theres a whole second series called "vanilla sky project cave exploration" it's on vimeo
Just beautiful
Absolutely gorgeous.
“Protected” is a code word for “prevent anybody else from doing what we’re doing.”
helpdeskjnp in some cases but not all cases. pollution filtering through the limestone due to particular western farming practices is an issue, such is huge mega developments that occur in the riviera maya area of mexico.
Can you do an exploration on palawan underwater cave in the philippines
You dudes are insane! Love it, Great Series!
