This is also how I sort my cards. I came to see if there was a better way and I now feel validated in the way I organize. Thanks again, Matt. Always love your videos and also love that Star Wars ccg is always the main topic!
I've seen some Decipher Star Wars cards listed for ridiculous amounts, like a WB Luke Skywalker for 1800 bucks (it's PSA graded even) and other mains for 400 to 2k. For a second there I thought the values of the cards went through the roof and I had a gold mine in my closet. Nope. They're either trying to find a sucker or trying to do what some did with NES games, artificially drive up the price by listing them for 100 times what they should be worth and then giving someone else your money to buy your own game, making it appear as if there's s demand for it at that price. I don't think the early sets and the over printed stuff like Jabba's Palace will ever be worth much. The stuff from the last few sets are doing pretty good since they're much more rare, but there's way too many Premeire cards out there and it's a mainstream IP but a very niche product.
Key is to always look at eBay sold vs eBay listed. Anyone can list things for any price.. doesn’t mean things are selling at that price. Early sets minus a few main characters are always going to be relatively cheap due to massive print runs. As you point out, later stuff sells pretty regularly.
Nice video! I’ve definitely been in and out of my collection a few times every 5-10 years. Love the memories they bring back each time I crack open a binder and take a look. Thanks for sharing
Great video and perfect timing. You answered pretty much all my questions. Found my trove of uncompleted sets a week ago and couldn't work out what to do. Thought I wanted to sell them but now I realise I want to complete them. Sorting the cards and finding gaps has been thoroughly enjoyable so decided to complete all sets slowly over time. Will move the final sets to the side loading binders, which I didn't even know were a thing. Then maybe, just maybe, sell off one or two of the completed mint sets on ebay. Maybe.. Thankfully I never actually played the game and was only interested in collect the cards. A++ vid
I bought a a starter decks and a bunch of expansions many years ago, like 15 years ago. But I never found a play group so never got into it. Does anyone still play this?
Yep! There’s a pretty active playing community online via gemp (you can play for free). Link for that below but also tons of local play communities. There’s a pretty big Facebook group and a nice discord server for folks. gemp.starwarsccg.org/gemp-swccg/

Even with complete sets, still fun to make second, third, fourth decks and then put aside ones for possible grading. I also find sorting therapeutic.
thanks for the help, interesting to figure out whats what.
Great intro, I’ve actually been sorting mine out over the last week just like this!
