He has the most beautiful sound : silky and light, with just the right amount of sonority.
@2:09 So this is where it came from!
Entire recital beatifully played and expertly recorded.
Thank you for the video. I enjoyed it so much. Beautiful sound too.🌷🌷🌷And I love Moszkowski ! (Holland-eu)
We all know Hamelin is amazing, but this Steinway is just a dream ❤ Kudos to the technician!
How are his glasses not sliding off his nose at 29:50? He’s on fire! What an interestingly crafted concert by an incredible pianist. Bravo. Thanks for the upload.
Thank you so much for the upload!
What a magnificent sounding instrument, with an orchestral use of sonority achieved by judicious use of pedal and sharp finger work, also no 'safe' playing here, this is what great performance is about. I think it takes courage to play the Schumann live, with that famous passage at 106.26! Wonderful!

Щірі вітання з України! Вдячні Вам за чудову працю піаніста.
Tremendo Hamelin!!!
It takes some serious pianism to play Appasionata and Schumann C major fantasy one after another.
I liked the long pedal between the 2nd and 3rd movement on the Schumann. Keeps the idiots from clapping!
For some reason, the final encore -- Schubert Impromptu in A-flat -- is not listed in the description section! Stay tuned -- it starts at 1:31:20!
Would love to hear Hamelin play Feinberg Sonatas 7-9
agreed - wonderful to hear 1 and 2 - never heard them before
@@brynbstnthey're on here (yt) with Beethoven later
El hombre que sabía tocar el piano
It's one of the best playing of Appassionata for me. What do you think about his Beethoven?
Nice program - so good to hear lesser known, but truly wonderful pieces - the first 3. Was the Beethoven sonata obligatory? Sorry, I only iistened to the exposition. It was top-notch playing and interpretation, it's just that I've heard it too many times. Jumped to Moszkowski - what a gem.
You might want to come back and listen to it after all. I just did and it was gripping through and through. I felt as if I heard Beethoven's emotional message -- a struggle between fury and tenderness -- throughout. This is a performance I will return to. It gave me renewed appreciation for this sonata and its composer.
9:15 look at the size of his frontal lobe. Pianists have better developed ones
