One thing to be aware of tho. Don’t use this method if you plan on practicing surfing long term or not going to far past beginner. Only because this technique of not kept in line will lead you to cementing bad habits in steeper waves or fast surf. Learning better ways to pop up early as possible will be my biggest surfing tip

True. If you are looking for steeper waves, this technique is too slow. If you look forward to go for steeper waves sooner or later, then better to learn another technique straight from the beginning. Better not to start with this one and get into bad habits (using your knee). Totally agree with you. Some people just want to surf whitewater or can't get up in antoher way. The video is more ment for them. To help them to get up at all. I am not saying this technique with the knee is the best. It's just a way to get a surf feeling on slower or broken waves.

I'm sure this guys a good surfer didn't watch the vid. I would not throw my knee down while popping up -seems like a good way to eat shit and look extra bad while doing so. Pop up to your feet -then ur solid.

There are different techniques. Of course you should use your foot always. But some people just cant't for whatever reason. So the knee technique helps them at least to be able to stand up. Of course when the waves get steep that knee technique is too slow. But what do you want to say to those people who can't? "Sorry you can't stand up, cause the only way is to use your foot!"
I don't think so. For having fun on slow breaking waves or White water the knee technique does the job.
