I dont like my Pommren , if I would need/want to play T9 premium , I would fist play Musashi , Benham ,Paolo Emilio , Alaska , ZF6 , Georgia , and then Pommren I she dont fit me.
Once upon a time they were side grades, then the defender, Chrysler, and one other came out to me killing wot. For wows the game died for me when they released the russian light cruiser with 16 guns, Porto rico being a disaster as an event and the ship a disappointment, and finally the 2 nails on the coffin being the removal of various scenarios and never reimplementing them with the meh cv rework.....
My Pom game consists of usually having my torpedo tubes permanently destroyed in the first salvo or two, being on fire if I'm spotted, and half my secondaries being blown away by the time I ever get them in range despite having the secondary health module.
This is the typical pommern game. Throw in t7 main guns, w t6 reload times, and accuracy of a t3. Now we talk about how it's absolutely huge, is slow and doesnt turn and what do we have? It's a disaster of ship.

When I heard about the incoming secondary changes, I put off grinding the Bismark until they dropped. And boy, was I not disappointed. Even stock and bottom tier, it's a ton of fun. With IFHE, I was able to outduel a Montana. I'm averaging 115k per game. In a stock Bismark. Good times.
I got back into WoWS a few months ago after two years off and was up to the Bismark. Trying her with secondary nerf was painful, she was so much fun before and a useful ship. Useless after the nerf and never touched her again. I'll have to give her a run again and keep moving up that line.
My friend has a Pommern. He was struggling with playing it so last night, I went and got myself one and we divisioned and played a lot of games until the server reset this morning. It is a lot of fun. Just have to be careful and don't push hard unless you have a lot of friends pushing with you. There were times we held a flank as the enemy just decided not to push into two Pommerns.
I am so happy to hear this news. I have been getting ready to buy my first full coal ship. Wanted to buy the Pommern then they nerfed secondaries. Was hoping this buff would make it great again.
Slapped a new secondary/main gun hybrid on my pommern and went for a match. Over 520 secondary hits, 12 fires and about 220k worth of dmg. Weegee has done some insanely stupid shit as of late. Buffing secondaries was not one of them.
My experience with Pommern mirrors yours exactly. You can now build for secondaries and be effective, and still have reasonable survivability. Most fun BB in the game I think. One correction: it is Odin who has a fighter, not Pommern.
@@PhanchaiSiam555 It happens. It also happens I get three kills, 180k dmg and 2nd in the team. Most often, it's somewhere in the middle. But it's always more fun than Izumo (for example).
It probably should be noted that Auxiliary Armaments Modification 1 does not apply to torpedoes. They are covered under Main Armaments Mod. 1. You imply the opposite a couple times in the video (7:00 for example).
I think I said this on one of your other videos, but I'll say it again: Your tone has improved so much in the last few weeks or so that it's quite a pleasure to listen to you and watch you play. Whatever you're doing to make you a happier person, please keep that up. Love the videos, particularly the nature thing you're doing at the end of the videos. 10 of 10. I also agree with you on the concealment. Four points is a lot to spend just to not be spotted for another 1.5 Km or whatever. You get lots of good upgrades for four points, and half your games are going to include a CV anyway, where you're going to be spotted when you don't want to be spotted anyhow. I've been running a Jean Bart without concealment for a while now. One day I'll figure it out, but until then, I'm having fun. I also agree with you on the AR skill. I don't see it as being as useful as being able to put out fires, especially with HE being slung all over the map.
I came back when beta testing was in the last phase & was told secondaries were returning. I'm so happy I didn't get the Thunderer before I took a break!
"FDG is a surprisingly good tier IX" That is a first for me. I hated that ship. But then again, I am not in the mood to play the type of BB that got me into playing this game. That is how far down the gameplay has deteriorated for me.
@@shadeofheresy FDG is one of the ships, that needs totally commitment to the secondaries - it is a close quarter ship, unfortunately w/o the torps of the Pommern. If you play this in any brawl in a kiting position, it's very effective. Use the 406er instead of the 420 (if I remember right, that you can choose...) for better reload (26 sec.). It got the same armor as the Pommern, which makes both ships pretty resistant to incoming secondary damage. Do not play the FDG on range - it does not have the 12 gun hit chance of a Pommern or G.K.
@@zagareth4604 I'm honestly not a fan of the German BBs. Bismarck is great but the FDG and Kurrfurst are terrible. Think I'd rather play any other BBs.
Your build actually makes sense the more I think about it. One gripe I've always had with Pommern since buying it was the maneuvrability, so taking rudder shift does alleviate that somewhat, and that in turn helps you rack up potential damage for that healing skill. I just don't know if it's really a viable option over AR because that dpm increase with every chip off my health is just too invaluable. I am open to discussion regarding this because demounting upgrades is also free right now.
@Joerg Lange's comment above yours argues the secondary battery reload that's now baked in with the Manual Fire 4pt secondary skill mostly replaces AR's value. With the Pommern, your secondaries are just about as effective as your main armaments in execution not on paper only because the dispersion is so poor. I guess the question here is would you rather get 3-4 seconds shaved off of your poor dispersion main guns, which, most of the time you're only going to be firing 6 of, or would you like to more readily access your heals? I can't decide for myself to be honest.
I've been tuning into several different sources for secondary build tweaking during the free respec period. I'd be interested in playing together over several matches to compare and contrast different arguments/builds?
I am missing less than 2k coal for the pommern if I use the coupon. On the other hand, I started farming for my first steel ship on which I wanted to use the coupon. Does anyone know how often the coupons are given out / if I should use it on the pommern or save it for a steel ship?
The coupons refresh every half year. That means the next coupon is gonna arrive at December so if you’re not in a hurry I think it’s totally fine to get a coal ship first cause you know steel takes like forever to grind, so when you’re about to finish grinding it might be just on time for the coupon to refresh
This is actually looks really fun, I just can’t bring myself to play it anymore. The secondaries were my favorite and I’m so soured on the game, even if they’re back im not interested anymore.
Interesting build, might give it a try. Tried a few things on Pommern but didn't feel like I can give up the preventative maintenance for torpedo survival. Have been running the consumable mod and maximum survivability on Kremlin for a tournament and had a bit of fun trying it in randoms with like a 24k heal or something like that, I can see some situations where the extra heal time comes in handy if you're a secondary brawler. By the way pq, if you haven't looked at Schlieffen yet, it will have both the German pen and actual USN premium secondary accuracy. With something like 50% more secondary dpm on one side than GK on one side when both are maxed out. And almost stealth secondaries. But worse angles for secondaries. Choosing the 4 pointers might become really really difficult for that new line. But I am slightly hyped to see what they can do. And then there's the Brandenburg with I believe pretty much the same turret, torpedo and secondary angles while almost having the same secondary damage output as a Pommern thanks to the extra turret. It is a good time for brawling gameplay, too bad being a player of a Wargaming product is not the best time you can have in gaming at the moment.
It was really a last minute decision for me, between the Pommern and Marco Polo, i'm glad i chose the former. I run it with IFHE and after the patch those secondaries just shred. I had fun playing the Pomm before the patch, now i'm having a blast!
Decided to run my Tirpitz with a secondary build (Captain from my Bismark) and been seeing a lot of Pommern's. Been having a lot of fun with my Tirpitz,and running into brawling range with a teammate Pommern together brawling is pretty amazing, so many secondary rounds going off it melts enemy DD's and cruisers. Even BB's have problems with it. When playing against the Pommern, mostly in my DD's, the hydro is pretty powerful up close. I have missed it a lot while running my Tirpitz. I was looking at the Napoli since I only have one tier 10 cruiser and already have a lot of German premium ships.... but the Pommern is really looking good. I may need to get it and keep saving for the Napoli later.
In Georgia I get away not using fire-prevention, its fast and stealthy and has improved heal. I can disengage at any time so HE spamm is usually not an issue.

Marco polo 9 gun with shotgun dispersion, secondary only pen 15mm, 4,6km AA range, average armor, no smoke VS 12 gun Pommern (still shotgun dispersion but 12 gun), secondary +IFHE can pen 32mm, 5,2 AA range, heavy armor + torp and Hydro sooo what do you choose ?

Why is WG'S English pretty much flawless when apologising but always obscure, misscommunicated or lost in translation when they try ripping off the multi lingual playerbase, with easily confused ship, gambling crates or event descriptions.
Their apology itself is half arsed and about what I'd expect from an angry 10 year old boy. The English is fine but the attitude is terrible as it's not a real apology.
It's weird that vigilance stacks with hydro, but the torpedo lookout upgrade does not. Preventative maintenance actually does help the torpedo tubes stay alive a little, and make up for the lack of main mods 1.
Im looking forward to secondary montana tests. Already did some tests myself but wanna see your take on it. I found the improved usa heal combined with a heal based build lets you skip the extra heal skill. since you got like 80k of potential healing capacity with only 4 heals already. wich is enough. so you can run conceal, FP and manual without giving up on healing capacaty wich is kinda cool
The auxiliary mod doesn't help the torpedos since they are counted as main armaments so taking preventative maintenance + main armament mod might be a good idea for Pommern
Get Lutjens first. His talents can be used on every class of ships: BB, DD, CA and even CV. You can literally use him on every premium German ship you have.
You'll need the 4 pt secondary skill (I think), then in game you need to target the ship you want to focus. This is done by R-CTRL then mouse click the ship name you want to set as focus. You'll see the marker appear above their name when successful. Around 1:30 into the vid you can see him do this as he moves the focus.
Hey PQ, actually, to increase torpedo survivability, you need to use Main Armaments Mod 1. Auxiliary Armaments Mod 1 just improves secondary and AA mount durability. At least that's what the wiki says...
I saw ur video with the repubilique and this ship with sec build, you should try out the Alsace sec build with high fire chance and the most sec guns of any ship in the game
I'm one of the dudes (we're dozens!!!) that just wishes that WoWs was a 40-50 even $60 game that just had everything unlocked, maybe getting higher tier ships by just no. of games played, or certain missions. I can't play every day and if I play, it's 3 hours max so getting premium time isn't worth it. I just wish everything was unlocked, maybe pay for skins without getting benefits, just looks, like in DotA 2 for example. Even a season pass would be good with a few unique missions and some cool unlocks. It's just my 2 cents about the game after uninstalling it today after 2 games where I was deleted by Dutch airstrikes. Love your video, PQ! Cheers!
@ANUBHAV SHARMA why? They will still be locked by tiers and you can set the matchmaker to allow a certain no. Of each ship class and model. It is possible with a lot of Alpha testing and feedback. It's just not profitable.

And I said the ship could be locked by tiers and certain missions, i.e. "to unlock tier 2 ships, win 20 games in any tier 1 ship." Really love the Pommern. Noticed it on the Tirpitz as well. I think German BBs benefit from this in general. i wonder if the coming Brandenberg will be the same.
ive been torn between pommern or marceau. typically im a bb main but have been enjoying french dd line. i also already have massa and georgia. was leaning marceau but after this vid scales tipping toward pommern
I have enough coal to purchase either the Pommern or the Napoli. I was set on the Napoli but this video has me thinking. What offers a more fun and unique experience?
Can try comparing the tech tree Italian cruiser (ones with smoke) and tech tree Grmn bb (starting from Bismarck...or Gneisy if your interest is 'bb with torp'...) just to get the general idea of how you'll feel playing that type of ship.
Im using the faster heal perk on Yamato and its decent (in some games while having 2 heals left i was already on 62s cd from 76s base, i switched engine mod to fire reduce one + flag = 2 modificators for fire reduce, so 3rd basicly is useless as its diminishing return. I am thinking of switching it to the tier 1 3% DCP/heal perk + Vigilance (as on roma that worked epic) and with 25% more detection of torps even Yamato has better chances to dodge and you cant currently stop thanks to all the present CV's + stupid air strikes etc. That build would probably also work nice on currywurst.
Slightly different in that lose some guns power but the torps pack a punch and quite nice that make up for it. I just got my GK the weekend and Lutjens for it and bought the Leg module as well. Only up to 17 points but hope to get to 21 before respecs end so can respec my 21 point Pommern commander.
Pommern's a nerf compared to GK because you have lower calibre guns, less pen on some of your secondaries, and less health. Pommern's more of a side-grade to FDG rather than GK.
Flamu has a very good point: why punishing you for changing targets? You are punished for not being passive and select the optimum target over time for your secondaries which is stupid. From that point of view, it is not as good as before the captain skill rework.
It's a fun ship but I'm so torn between using Lutjens on the pommern or the G.K. Thing is pommern needs ifhe for secondaries to work and on the G.K ifhe feels like it's a waste of skill because u lose fire chance and you already got 32mm of pen by default

My Pommern Plans got Derailed by Napoli, and I'm NEVER going to Cry over that, Napoli is a Hoot and Change.... Pommern however is STILL my Next Coal Boat unless WG finds a Way to Derail it again.... I love getting in Close, Hate Sniping.... I Drive Roma, never used THAT Commander Skill, built it Strictly as a Colse Combat Knife Fighter.... I used the 2nds Build Principle to Boost the Main Battery not for the 2nds, and Built it to a 21sec Turret Traverse as well..... If Roma had Torp's, it'd be an EVIL Boat.... Used the Same Build on Tirpitz and Kii as I did Roma, so I'd just do it again o. Pommern....

But mounting 10% longer consumables results in NOT taking concealment module, that give you +10% concealment AND +5 dispersion of incoming shells as well (new thing since this spring). Camo gives you 4% and this module additional 5%, which I consider better than nothing.

Setting fires with your secondaries is far more valuable than having all of them pen 32mm. GK's secondaries already do that without needing a nerf to their fire chance.
it is a fun ship. However, have you notice how fast the secondaries take dmg even with AAM1 in slot one? without AAM1 it is ridiculous how fast they take dmg... I not sure if a change was made to pom's mechanics. I don't remember them being this easy to take out.

Hey PQ, auxiliary armaments mod does not double your torp launcher's HP. The main armaments mod does so, but only 50% more.

IFHE can deal with ships even a TX no problem. Totally worth it
Decided to run my Tirpitz with a secondary build (Captain from my Bismark) and been seeing a lot of Pommern's. Been having a lot of fun with my Tirpitz,and running into brawling range with a teammate Pommern together brawling is pretty amazing, so many secondary rounds going off it melts enemy DD's and cruisers. Even BB's have problems with it. When playing against the Pommern, mostly in my DD's, the hydro is pretty powerful up close. I have missed it a lot while running my Tirpitz.
I was looking at the Napoli since I only have one tier 10 cruiser and already have a lot of German premium ships.... but the Pommern is really looking good. I may need to get it and keep saving for the Napoli later.
In Georgia I get away not using fire-prevention, its fast and stealthy and has improved heal. I can disengage at any time so HE spamm is usually not an issue.
Pommern main guns are just Bismarck guns, but 3 barrels per turret

Marco polo 9 gun with shotgun dispersion, secondary only pen 15mm, 4,6km AA range, average armor, no smoke
VS
12 gun Pommern (still shotgun dispersion but 12 gun), secondary +IFHE can pen 32mm, 5,2 AA range, heavy armor + torp and Hydro

If you're being serious, I'd recommend your 3 daily containers being selected for resources so you can bump that up to over 1k coal a day.
@@Con5tantine not everyone have time to grind 37k xp per day and not everyone have tens of thousends of those fancy flags and camos that give you in total over 1000% of xp
Why is WG'S English pretty much flawless when apologising but always obscure, misscommunicated or lost in translation when they try ripping off the multi lingual playerbase, with easily confused ship, gambling crates or event descriptions.
Their apology itself is half arsed and about what I'd expect from an angry 10 year old boy. The English is fine but the attitude is terrible as it's not a real apology.

I think Flamu mentioned these are Gneisenau guns, not Bismarck guns, at t9. The penetration is lower

It's weird that vigilance stacks with hydro, but the torpedo lookout upgrade does not. Preventative maintenance actually does help the torpedo tubes stay alive a little, and make up for the lack of main mods 1.

I found the improved usa heal combined with a heal based build lets you skip the extra heal skill. since you got like 80k of potential healing capacity with only 4 heals already. wich is enough. so you can run conceal, FP and manual without giving up on healing capacaty wich is kinda cool
The auxiliary mod doesn't help the torpedos since they are counted as main armaments so taking preventative maintenance + main armament mod might be a good idea for Pommern

Get Lutjens first. His talents can be used on every class of ships: BB, DD, CA and even CV. You can literally use him on every premium German ship you have.
How do you set a priority target to get your secondaries to start the better accuracy build up?
Press Left Ctrl and Left click on target ship
You'll need the 4 pt secondary skill (I think), then in game you need to target the ship you want to focus. This is done by R-CTRL then mouse click the ship name you want to set as focus. You'll see the marker appear above their name when successful. Around 1:30 into the vid you can see him do this as he moves the focus.

Hey PQ, actually, to increase torpedo survivability, you need to use Main Armaments Mod 1. Auxiliary Armaments Mod 1 just improves secondary and AA mount durability. At least that's what the wiki says...

I saw ur video with the repubilique and this ship with sec build, you should try out the Alsace sec build with high fire chance and the most sec guns of any ship in the game
I'm one of the dudes (we're dozens!!!) that just wishes that WoWs was a 40-50 even $60 game that just had everything unlocked, maybe getting higher tier ships by just no. of games played, or certain missions. I can't play every day and if I play, it's 3 hours max so getting premium time isn't worth it. I just wish everything was unlocked, maybe pay for skins without getting benefits, just looks, like in DotA 2 for example. Even a season pass would be good with a few unique missions and some cool unlocks. It's just my 2 cents about the game after uninstalling it today after 2 games where I was deleted by Dutch airstrikes. Love your video, PQ! Cheers!

@ANUBHAV SHARMA why? They will still be locked by tiers and you can set the matchmaker to allow a certain no. Of each ship class and model. It is possible with a lot of Alpha testing and feedback. It's just not profitable.

And I said the ship could be locked by tiers and certain missions, i.e. "to unlock tier 2 ships, win 20 games in any tier 1 ship." Proper potato here but building secondary Georgia has been really fun over the last few days - can recommend you try it while respec and module swapping is free!

Pommern torp tubes break permanently if you just look at them. So, you cannot rely on them while doing a drive by.
I just picked it up and played it alll day....holy smokes this ship is fun! I dunno why but the main batteries just work for me.....

Really love the Pommern. Noticed it on the Tirpitz as well. I think German BBs benefit from this in general. i wonder if the coming Brandenberg will be the same.

ive been torn between pommern or marceau. typically im a bb main but have been enjoying french dd line. i also already have massa and georgia. was leaning marceau but after this vid scales tipping toward pommern
I have enough coal to purchase either the Pommern or the Napoli. I was set on the Napoli but this video has me thinking. What offers a more fun and unique experience?
Napoli is more unique, but pommern is more fun imo. Just depends on what you like.
Can try comparing the tech tree Italian cruiser (ones with smoke) and tech tree Grmn bb (starting from Bismarck...or Gneisy if your interest is 'bb with torp'...) just to get the general idea of how you'll feel playing that type of ship.

I had I nice brawl with a Pommern earlier today in a G Kurfürst. He would’ve won if it weren’t for a Montana helping me out.
Im using the faster heal perk on Yamato and its decent (in some games while having 2 heals left i was already on 62s cd from 76s base, i switched engine mod to fire reduce one + flag = 2 modificators for fire reduce, so 3rd basicly is useless as its diminishing return. I am thinking of switching it to the tier 1 3% DCP/heal perk + Vigilance (as on roma that worked epic) and with 25% more detection of torps even Yamato has better chances to dodge and you cant currently stop thanks to all the present CV's + stupid air strikes etc.
That build would probably also work nice on currywurst.

German secondaries got a buff when the commander rework happened to "make up" for the nerfs, so now they're REALLY good
Is Pommern a interesting sidegrade for someone who owns a GK with legendary upgrade?
Slightly different in that lose some guns power but the torps pack a punch and quite nice that make up for it.
I just got my GK the weekend and Lutjens for it and bought the Leg module as well. Only up to 17 points but hope to get to 21 before respecs end so can respec my 21 point Pommern commander.
Pommern's a nerf compared to GK because you have lower calibre guns, less pen on some of your secondaries, and less health. Pommern's more of a side-grade to FDG rather than GK.
Ap shells stick on German battleship like flies on a catching ribbon.

Flamu has a very good point: why punishing you for changing targets? You are punished for not being passive and select the optimum target over time for your secondaries which is stupid. From that point of view, it is not as good as before the captain skill rework.

It's a fun ship but I'm so torn between using Lutjens on the pommern or the G.K. Thing is pommern needs ifhe for secondaries to work and on the G.K ifhe feels like it's a waste of skill because u lose fire chance and you already got 32mm of pen by default
IFHE is a little worse on Pommern when it comes to drawn out fights because your fire chance is effectively neutered, which is not what you want.
@@aristosachaion_ against cruisers you are right but not battleship, also fires can be damage controlled, they are a very unreliable way of getting consistent damage

My Pommern Plans got Derailed by Napoli, and I'm NEVER going to Cry over that, Napoli is a Hoot and Change.... Pommern however is STILL my Next Coal Boat unless WG finds a Way to Derail it again....
I love getting in Close, Hate Sniping.... I Drive Roma, never used THAT Commander Skill, built it Strictly as a Colse Combat Knife Fighter.... I used the 2nds Build Principle to Boost the Main Battery not for the 2nds, and Built it to a 21sec Turret Traverse as well..... If Roma had Torp's, it'd be an EVIL Boat....
Used the Same Build on Tirpitz and Kii as I did Roma, so I'd just do it again o. Pommern....

Hey, PQ, do you think it is good to give up 5% incoming dispersion from concealment module?
If they can’t see you they can’t shoot you so 100 incoming dispersion lol

But mounting 10% longer consumables results in NOT taking concealment module, that give you +10% concealment AND +5 dispersion of incoming shells as well (new thing since this spring). Camo gives you 4% and this module additional 5%, which I consider better than nothing.

Setting fires with your secondaries is far more valuable than having all of them pen 32mm. GK's secondaries already do that without needing a nerf to their fire chance.
it is a fun ship. However, have you notice how fast the secondaries take dmg even with AAM1 in slot one? without AAM1 it is ridiculous how fast they take dmg... I not sure if a change was made to pom's mechanics. I don't remember them being this easy to take out.
georgia is a good alternative if you want firepower and secondaries. The amount of fires you get is pretty disgusting now.
Plus the 23 seconds reload and 40kts speed
@@tongnguyenthien9057 and i often get confederate a lot with georgia, so with halsey you just become a giant cruiser with your reload and AR.

1368 secondary shells fired and 357 hits = 26% hit rate, that's GK level before all the fucking around with secondary's !
I got 32 secondary hits for 572 shells fired in my worst Pommern battle.
