Like the last game, if I'm gonna comment, it's most likely going to be critique. But I'll go easy on you this time. To begin, the language that the Hocotate Freight President is speaking is called "Hocotatian" which is more of a falsified version of Japanese. The president also speaks in a mid-high pitch tone, whereas Louie speaks about the tone you gave the president. Olimar and Louie just have really deep voices. Also part of the game's problem is that there's less of an endearing story here. It's fairly low stakes. Some people claim that it's supposed to be a black comedy plot, but unless you find the joke funny, it really doesn't make it better - it makes it worse actually. Fun fact: Pokos are the equivalent of Yen, the currency used in Japan. Similar to Poke or Pokedollar in Pokemon. 8:14 Be mindful four of those eight minutes was you rambling, so really you got a lot of information in about four minutes. Oh, you'll notice Olimar (piloting this time) dodge a meteor this time. He was ready that time. Pikmin 2 onward, the tutorials start to get a little long. Unless you care about the jokes in them, you can skip ahead since most of the basic controls stay the same throughout the series. If you recall a few of Olimar's ship part descriptions, Olimar isn't much better with money. He's a lesser greedy but greedy, nonetheless. The Hocotate Ship (never given a name) is actually the President's original ship from back when he space traveled. The S.S. Dolphin also had a personality (Olimar even says this) but it never talks. Believe it or not, Pikmin aren't that interested in Olimar himself, but rather the antenna on his head. Same logic with Louie. Part of Olimar's character trait is that he's a magnet for bad luck. So him being sent off planet and not seeing his family is par for the course. So a good chunk of treasures in this game are actually different than in the Gamecube or Wii version. The battery you find as your first treasure used to be Duracell batttery. The only treasures not changed are ones associated with Nintendo themselves or are not owned by a company period. Now's a good time to mention (24:46) - Pikmin who are with a leader, either Olimar or Louie and not at base, will not count as left behind. So you can have Louie on standby on the other side of the map with a group of Pikmin and they would be alright. But if they are doing tasks or just generally out of the squad, they will be counted as left behind. So if it's close to sunset, have the captain that's on standby whistle any nearby Pikmin to their side and they will be safe. The End of Day song changes based on whether or not you have collected treasure that day. If haven't, you get a sillier sounding tune. The President doesn't have an official name. People do have a fan name for him though, but that's spoilers technically. Piklopedia is fun because you get interact with the various creatures of the game, minus a few that just don't react at all. You also get to read some of Olimar's notes, which he usually comes with some funny dialogue, especially with treasures. Also if you hold, I believe, ZL and move the Right Stick, you can turn the camera to get some better angles. A minor nitpick, but in Pikmin 1, the Pikmin counter would update per thrown Pikmin. In Pikmin 2, it only updates when Pikmin hit the ground. I hate this since it messes with my counting and I'm always one Pikmin off as a result. It shouldn't bother me, but it does. Ganvious, 2023 - Can't quite recognize areas he's been in not five minutes ago yet. I'm teasing of course. Fun fact: The Pikmin noises are an indication there is a treasure in the area. If they are making the "wah wah wah" noise, there's a treasure. If they sing, there is no treasure in the area. That line of dialogue you got after the wall broke always happens regardless if you're playing Louie or not. It's just a helpful, but unneeded, reminder. So you'll hear a noise indicate that there is no more treasure in an area. That's what you heard. Also as a warning for caves in the future: *You are limited to the Pikmin you bring into a cave.* You will not be able to replenish your numbers until after you leave the cave. So any bodies you collect will only be for money, not for Pikmin numbers. Also, if you lose too many Pikmin, there is no shame in resetting the sublevel and trying again, but if you carry on with only the surviving Pikmin, the rest of the cave will be a miserable experience you'll likely not have enough Pikmin to carry treasure. Keep this in mind as you explore caves. On top of that, *time does not pass* while in a cave, so you have all day to do a cave. Do not rush through, take your time and plan out any strategy. ESPECIALLY with the harder caves later on. The advantage of Purple Pikmin is that they are twice as strong as Red Pikmin and can stun enemies if thrown. They are also worth 10 Pikmin in terms of carrying objects. The disadvantages are that they are slow. Very slow. Especially when carrying things. And they are very limited in quantity since you can only grow them in caves where their Candypop Buds (the flowers) grow; they do not have an Onion of their own to propagate, period. When leaving a cave or progressing to the next sublevel, do not worry about Pikmin not in your squad - they will join you automatically so you only have to worry about clearing a path back to home base for them. Pikmin still in the ground you do need to worry about since they will not be able to join you until you pluck them. Sorry if this is a lot of information. I'm keeping things only contained in this one episode. Just heed the advice if you can as the game will not pull any punches. I'll try to shorten my messages if I can, but in the meantime, welcome to Pikmin 2. You're in for an adventure, that's for sure.
Uh no they love Olimar. The ship even says they remember him in Pikmin 2, and in Pikmin 3 there's some paintings that suggest the Pikmin view him as a god
This is easily the most hyped & anticipated let's play on the channel! Thank you all so much for your patience! I finally play "Pikmin 2" for the VERY FIRST time! Can we hit 200 LIKES for episode one!? 👀
A few important things to note as the HD switch release has a few changes made. -Many of the treasures were actually branded products in the original. So the battery you found was actually a Duracell before. It is perhaps the best form of product placement in any game, or show, or whatever, as it actually works as great worldbuilding. However, the brand deal contracts have clearly since ended, and all of the branded treasures were retextured. -One or two end-of-day emails had to be censored, so if one of them feels off, that may be why. Have fun, and good luck! You'll need it.
Here is a tip. If way too many pikmin die in a cave and your scared you can’t continue, close the game and start it again. And trust me, it’s NOT cheating! (Also, because I wanna say this before anyone else. When switching the Louie, the areas theme song will have more swing in it. And Olimar’s versions has no swing,to show that he is more organised or something I don’t really remember)
purple pikmin are op as hell. they are the best fighter in the game. they have a crush attack when thrown and stun enemies, they also do 2x damage when leaving a cave or going to the next level all pikmin on the floor will continue with you. you do not need to bring pikmin to the exit of a cave
A couple tips; 1. Electricity is an EXTREMELY dangerous hazard so be cautious around it 2. Caves are randomly generated and so you can reset a floor and items/enemies/etc. will be in different spots 3. One of the new Pikmin types, the chunky ones, is overpowered and if you farm some you can easily kill any enemy, including ones with elements. 4. Beware the stone rollers…
So the weird and unsettling noise that you heard in the cave was the sound that plays when there is no more treasure on the floor. Trust me, leaving even a single treasure behind in a cave feels devastating. Also, in the original release, a lot of the treasures that you find were actually real world products, but had to be changed for obvious reasons. For example, the battery you found is a Duracell battery in the original game.
Hey Ganvious, here a couple of tips new to Pikmin 2. 1. Purple Pikmin and another Pikmin type can only be made with the underground flowers, so try to protect them more than other Pikmin types. 2. Purple pikmin can be very powerful in combat if you THROW them. I will not spoil how yet. 3. Pikmin 2 caves can be VERY unfair sometimes due to random generation and other factors, so do not be afraid to reset the sub level if you lose tons of Pikmin in a cheap way. 4. The time stops in caves, so you can take your time to deal with the challenges inside. 5. Not really a tip, but the treasures used to be branded in the original game. For example, the battery used to be a Duracell battery and the spicy ginger ale bottle cap used to be a 7-up cap. This game will be more difficult, but I know that you can beat and maybe even collect every treasure.
Something that will be super useful to know in caves is that all Pikmin on the floor will come into the hole/geyser with you regardless of if they’re in your squad or not. Also, no time passes in caves, the cave you did in this video ends the day but all future caves will not. I’m so excited to see you start this game! I can’t wait to see all the joy and frustration that will come from it!
pikmin 2 is my favorite pikmin game, and i'm so excited to see you experience it! hopefully people can avoid talking about my favorite cave, as i know it's one everyone loves to see people experience for the first time. just some basic quality of life updates: the pikmin are not as stupid. when yous tep on a bridge pause, and they'll bundle together tightly to avoid walking over the edge. they also follow you better, and jsut a handful of things that makes them easier to control. also, this is the introduction of a second captain: this helped so much with multitasking especially when just waiting for something to be built/destroyed. a tip i recommend is parking a captain with any crew of pikmin that are attacking a wall and then use the other captain to explore or gather renewables or whatever else. then you can easily switch back when you hear the jingle of the wall being destroyed and continue whatever you were doing there. fun detail in this game is that the music actually changes depending on what captain you're playign as! olimar jsut has normal music, but when controllign louie it's put into a swing tempo! very minor but it's a wonderful little detail. also, jsut liek in all pikmin games, teh music changes based on what you're doing (more percussion when fighting, something added when carrying treasure, small things like that. this was in one i jsut never mentioend it but it's such good detail.) i love how even now on the switch hd rerelease they didn't fix the president's closed eye int eh opening cutscene. they had the opportunity to do so but it still remains closed for a while. one thing you are missing otu on in this rerelease is branded content. in the original gamecube/wii releases, the battery is duracell brand, for instance. most of the treasures are product placement, and it's a bit dissapointing that such is not the case anymore. hearing you scream "let olimar see his family" while cooking made me so happy because yes, the plot of the second game is SO INSANE when you look at the first, but it is so funny too. Also you may think the ship frustrating bc tutorial land, but honeslty i lvoe the hocotate ship. it's so funny. it has such good dialogue. i also love how they use louie as an excuse to teach controls bc by canon olimar knwo show to do all of this so "hey newbie wtf are you doing" is such a good inworld way to tutorial. pikmin 2 has been my favorite because it controls better than 1, and has challenge that 3 frankly lacked. like when they made 3 deluxe on switch i got it bc i want ot show nintendo "please. pikmin please. more" which worked bc 4 exists now (a decade later), btu even doing the demo of that to unlock "ultra spicy mode" for the main game... the ultraspicy mode wasn't enough to really challenge me in three. (the only difference that even impacted me was teh reduced pikmin on the field count) 4 has been an absolute blast, bringing about all the things from 1 and 2 that i missed while being so unique your'e going to have so much fun. i still miss teh swarm feature. ah yes, the louie face. we all love it. love louie face. it's a fandom favorite. louie is an absoltue foodie your'e going to love him or hate himd epends on who you are he's a devisive character but he's so scrunkly we told you olimar's voice is mega deep. and alsot that voice is going to last the rest of the franchise. olimar is so funny as a character you can touch pikmin to pick them up in your party, but you have to whistle captains. the presidents voice is much higher pitched. also he is never named in game, but the fandom calls him sacho/sancho. or at least hte pikmin serve ri'm in does the piklopedia is what made me begin to fall in love with pikmin. the amount of detail in the world that doesn't need to be there is so charming and so much fun. i hope you enjoy reading olimar's notes on both creatures and treasures! they add so much character and even moments of humor, and sometimes even tips. the fact they even add the plants like the pellet posies and dandelions just makes it all the better. do what you like, btu i think it could be fun if you read new creature entries between days as you discover creatures. and maybe read treasure entries as you get complete sets? i personally find it better to walk with only one captain at a time, as sometimes when trying to run away you can end up running into the other captain and casualties occur because of it. but that's just a preference thing your failure with the bulborb was because youc ame fromt he side of the borb, not the back of it. they're asleep. you ahve the time and space to get all the way around to the backside. take advantage of this. also, once you start throwing, do not stop. if you keep throwing often they'll be so focussed on trying to shake the min off that they won't have the chance to bite. i'm so happy to see (because my first few paragraphs were written during the intro sequence) you hae a natural instinct to split the captains to multitaske (you monitor wall while you grab treasure) that instinct is going to serve you *so well* in this game. there's also, however, parts where you'll want them together. assess accordingly. when dealing with individual dwarf bulborbs, tossing directly on to the back is best. when dealing with a bundle of 3 or more, swarming is more effective. so one thing that makes pikmin 2 so fun is it is **WILDLY** UNBALANCED! the purple pikmin are the easiest showcasing of this. they have this stomp affect wehn thrown that can stun enemies temporarily! throw a bunch of purples at once and you basically instakill some things... however, due to them not having an onion, you feel ever purple you lose. they're hard to colelct, so whether you make them your warriors, or just use them for carrying... it's a choice you have to make. this lack of balance goes both ways though. purple pikmin is just a wildly unbalanced mechanic in your favor.
Alright, Pikmin 2 is here! Great video as always! And as usual, its time for my usual "Tips and advice in paragraph/essay format". Most of which will be going over how caves work. 1. The Piklopedia is essentially like a Pokedex. It lists all the enemies, plant life, and treasures youve seen in the game. Know that Treasures are kept in a separate list from everything else. And that the "Feed enemy" screen is meant to show you the enemy's behavior regarding Pikmin. 2. Alright, caves. How do they work? Well first of all, caves have a set amount of sublevels, and the game saves after each sublevel. Second of all, caves generally have randomly generated layouts, with some exceptions of course. The only constants are the enemies, hazards, and treasures youll find. Third of all, and this is REALLY IMPORTANT, is that time DOES NOT pass in caves. You can take as long as you need to down there. 3. Continuing on with the cave talk, the sound you heard at 57:22 is an indicator that you have collected all the treasure on that sublevel and that you are free to move on. 4. New Pikmin type! That being Purple Pikmin. As youve seen, they have the carrying capacity of 10 Pikmin, and they are much slower than the rest. Of course, thats not even going over all their combat capabilities. Ill mostly leave that as a surprise for now but I will say that Purple Pikmin are OVERPOWERED in this game. Most enemies will go down easily to them. 5. And lastly, some quality of life improvements! The Pikmin AI is MUCH better than the previous game. Only real issue you'll come across is them getting stuck on corners. And they will have a more consistant performance when fighting enemies. Unlike in the last game, where they might "attack" an enemy, but they dont deal damage for some reason. Going to be a bit more conservative with my tips this time around. Especially as you can mostly carry over your knowledge from Pikmin 1! See you in the next one!
Pikmin 2 my favorite in the series! This was a great first episode and can't wait for the next! The pikmin singing can indicate if you've collected all the treasure on a sublevel, along with that strange winding down noise you heard. Funfacts time!: 1. In the Gamecube version there are certain treasures that have been changed in the Switch version. Like the battery originally being a Duracell! The bottle cap was also changed I believe it was a Dr. Pepper before? I can't remember, there's to many bottle caps. 😂 2. In the Gamecube if you had 20 of each pikmin type out at once they sang a tune from the old pikmin commercials called Ai No Uta. Unfortunately this feature is not on the Switch. Perhaps after beating pikmin 2 you can react to it? Along with maybe all the notes in the Treasure Horde and Piklopedia or all the treasure changes. Can't wait to see where this journey will take us!
I really enjoyed this first episode of Pikmin 2, just as I did your whole Pikmin 1 series! Excited for the rest! PS. I know you might not do it for the whole playthrough, but I am really glad that you took the time to read some of Olimar's journal entries for the treasure! They have a lot of personality and I appreciate you reading even just a few of them (:
Back at it! This game can be very forgiving and unforgiving at the same time. No time limit means let it rip! Excited for you. I'll be watching when I can
Time for me to rewatch the Pikmin 2 let’s play, the game that made me the freaking god of Pikmin and fall in love with the Pikmin series can’t wait to laugh at your mistakes as much as you probably were looking back at this
Just finished the Pikimin 1 play through! Great series man. Keep up the good work. Excited to continue watching along; all the way through to 4. Love seeing your Likes increasing as we get later in the series. You deserve it.
(Not a spoiler) One thing thats absent from the pikmin 2 switch port is that there is A LOT of real life brands in the original games, for example, the battery in the tutorial is actually a duracell battery in the original.
Wigwam Battle Tip #1: Adult Bulborbs When fighting Common Members of the Grubdog family Such as Spotty Bulborbs (Recently Encountered) Always Approach from behind. (Duh we know that) But a tip that can help exceptionally in keeping death tolls low, When attacking from behind when a Bulborb begins to shake whistle your pikmin off them just before they finish their shake to nullify the numbers knocked off and stunned by said Bulborb. Recommended Types: Purple, Red [Lower Risk if lost].
Hey Ganvious! So just a little thing I thought was nice, is that in the original game, the treasure were actual objects we have today, like the battery at the start was straight up Duracell! But there was probably licensing issues or something
Pikmin 2 is my favorite, Bare in mind I think all 4 games are freakin great. But the details and feel of pikmin 2 are way to iconic. Nostalgic even. Down to the colors and sound effects. This game speaks to me.
here are some tips you can leave louie at a onion to pluck the pikmin while you do something else and normally you can carry double of what an Item is needed to carry (purple pikmin kinda mix it up) but it still goes
So, I missed the premiere due to being KNOCKED OUT 🤣🤣 But thank goodness for replays. I will say this...the way they bought in the new lore for this sequel was SO GRIMEY for Olimar. Getting ship jacked because of some irresponsible needs to miss a few plates Mayor/CEO/whoever that is. But...I gotta say these new missions are looking very promising and can't wait to see more coverage. Awesome gameplay as always, Ganvious!! C u in the next video.
I have a real tough time deciding what my favourite Pikmin game is nowadays. It used to always be 1 because of the tone of the game being so much more dire, I never thought much of 3 until I played it for the first time and I love the environments and how pretty the game is, and in 2 I like how unforgiving the game is. I haven't played 4 yet as I am waiting til I finish 2 and 3 again, but I'm sure I will love it and make the choice for my favourite even harder.
Finally was able to watch, but I'll keep this comment short since theres a lot already Dont worry about wasting time, you got all the time in the world go at your own pace. Purple Pikmin are gonna be your fighters in 2. And whenever going down to the next floor or leaving a cave, your Pikmin dont have to be in your party. They'll automatically follow you to the next floor. Can't wait to see you get into harder stuff. This is gonna be exciting
I am hyped for this gameplay. All I can tell you is for me personally the caves are the scariest part of the game. Especially if it tells you to go deeper
OH SHOOT! GUYS HE DOESNT KNOW THAT NINTENDO CHANGED THE GAME FOR THE SWITCH PORT! Okay so Ganvious, pikmin 2 originally had many different types of product placement. For example that battery at the beginning of the game was a Duracell Battery! (the reason Nintendo changed most of the treasures is likely because of copywrite laws and stuff...)
36:42 Bro, you were just there the day before lol That’s where the red onion was It’s true usually large empty areas likely have a boss, but not all of them, especially not places where an onion was
The worst part is Olimar is probably a-ok with current circumstances and forgive Louie and the boss because he’s just such a “nice guy” in true Nintendo fashion. (To be fair the boss seems more of a klutz than a greedy guy.) And yeah, those voices… just don’t fit. Even in the ironic sort of sense. *Shudders* Finally, that Pikipedia reminds me so much of the Pandorapedia from the James Cameron’s Avatar game… it was AWESOME!
i do hope you try to do olimars voice as the low pitched one; i think its great that olimar and louies voices are so low while the presidents is high pitched
Pikmin 2 is, by far, the hardest game in the series, so don’t beat yourself up over any mistakes or confusion! It’s a great experience that will teach and (in some cases) force you to learn multitasking! It’s hard at first, but when you start getting a flow? Hoooo it feels good!
@@GanviousOf course! I came across your channel while watching people play Pikmin for the first time, and I gotta say you’re experiencing these games the same way I did when I first played them! I hope you’re loving the journey man, looking forward to seeing you grow as a player! 😁
My only advice I will give to you for pikmin 2 is to explore anywhere new before bringing any pikmin. Pikmin 2 does not play fair at all. Just remember that one tip and it should help. Also, save scumming is kind of essential for this game. Don’t feel bad for needing to save scum. That’s all the advice I will give! You know pikmin now, and so now it is just time to enjoy watching your experience! Have fun!
Here is a tip to make caves more manageable. Most of the time you should not carry enemies back to the ship and instead leave them in the caves so you don’t split your army too much, or wait a while for the Pikmin to carry it to the ship. You won’t get more Pikmin while I’m caves.
Check the flowers for eyes do that some Pikmin 4 areas to ... Bigger squads of Pikmin can be more vulnerable when not taking care of properly let's say a bulborb wakes up and you run the leaves or purples will be gobbled when an enemy dies and eats Pikmin the Pikmin will be the regularly be spit out unless you wait too long
fyi this game has easter eggs on the title screen by clicking different buttons. The president also has a high pitched voice as you heard so use that instead of a deep voice The president of the company isn't greedy so to speak. He took out a loan to pay a debt on a delivery and now hes 10,000 pokos in debt. 100 pokos is more than a years salary so thats a crap ton of cash also olimar and louie backwards in Japanese is mario and luigi In the piklopedia once you beat the game you unlock louies notes. The notes for some are absolutely hilarious The battery was originally a duracell but copyright so they changed it. This planet in all the games is earth. The valley of repose is a street basically Against the bulborb do not stop throwing like you did. keep throwing
DeeBeeGeek is great, so that’s awesome that you’re comparing me to him! I’ve only played a couple Zelda games, so unfortunately I’ve never seen much of his let’s plays because I wanna play ALL the Zelda games for myself for the first time! Lol Anyways, thank you so much!! 🙏
PLEASE read the treasure hoard entries for the final treasures of the game, there are some DEEP lore implications that will completely change your perspective on some things
Ganvious just to let you know that sound you heard in the caves is the sound telling you theres no more treasures on that floor just thought I'd tell you
Like the last game, if I'm gonna comment, it's most likely going to be critique.

Olimar/Orima is Mario with the letters swapped around. Louie is obviously named after Luigi, being the taller of the duo.
TYSM for all of this Dale! Extremely helpful!! 🙏
I’m not sure about the Pikmin not being interested in Olimar, listen to Ai No Uta.
The Hocotate Ship is named the "Dolphin First Model" in Japan
Uh no they love Olimar. The ship even says they remember him in Pikmin 2, and in Pikmin 3 there's some paintings that suggest the Pikmin view him as a god
Also, Pikmin follow whomever plucks them from the ground. Nothing to do with their antenna
This is easily the most hyped & anticipated let's play on the channel! Thank you all so much for your patience! I finally play "Pikmin 2" for the VERY FIRST time! Can we hit 200 LIKES for episode one!? 👀
YOU HEARD HIM, HIT THAT LIKE BUTTON!
25 before it even starts 👀👀👀
A few important things to note as the HD switch release has a few changes made.
-Many of the treasures were actually branded products in the original. So the battery you found was actually a Duracell before. It is perhaps the best form of product placement in any game, or show, or whatever, as it actually works as great worldbuilding. However, the brand deal contracts have clearly since ended, and all of the branded treasures were retextured.
-One or two end-of-day emails had to be censored, so if one of them feels off, that may be why.
Have fun, and good luck!
You'll need it.
Here we go again.
Sorry i am late. I was busy
Alright will do. Also yeah I noticed the change in Olimar & Louie’s theme. Interesting!
The ship is infamous for having LOTS of dialogue, so if you manage to keep up that voice for it the whole time... 😂
Oh god! 😂
purple pikmin are op as hell. they are the best fighter in the game. they have a crush attack when thrown and stun enemies, they also do 2x damage
when leaving a cave or going to the next level all pikmin on the floor will continue with you. you do not need to bring pikmin to the exit of a cave
Cool!!
A couple tips;
1. Electricity is an EXTREMELY dangerous hazard so be cautious around it
2. Caves are randomly generated and so you can reset a floor and items/enemies/etc. will be in different spots
W tip
They didn't HAVE to change the treasures. They could've payed the licenses again, but I guess they didn't feel it was worth it.
Very interesting & noted! Thanks Newb!
@@ShyGuyXXL Those licenses are expensive, so it was probably not worth it to renew then.
@@MystiDrifti-um1nb I dunno why those companies wouldn't just give them the licenses for free. I mean it's free advertising for them.
I like how you give Olimar a high voice and the President a deep voice, while their voices are the opposite
5:25 that sound means you collected every treasure on the floor of the cave
Ah I gotcha. Thanks!
Also, that weird noise you heard plays once you collect every treasure on the current sublevel of the cave.
@@PikKraken8Thank you for all of this Jacob!!! Very helpful!! 🙏
I cannot contain my excitement!!! No spoilers y'all, let the tutorials do their thing!!!!
Thank you Eagle! I’m so hyped!!
This is all explained in the game, but W tips for no spoilers
Thanks Danny!
pikmin 2 is my favorite pikmin game, and i'm so excited to see you experience it! hopefully people can avoid talking about my favorite cave, as i know it's one everyone loves to see people experience for the first time. just some basic quality of life updates: the pikmin are not as stupid. when yous tep on a bridge pause, and they'll bundle together tightly to avoid walking over the edge. they also follow you better, and jsut a handful of things that makes them easier to control. also, this is the introduction of a second captain: this helped so much with multitasking especially when just waiting for something to be built/destroyed. a tip i recommend is parking a captain with any crew of pikmin that are attacking a wall and then use the other captain to explore or gather renewables or whatever else. then you can easily switch back when you hear the jingle of the wall being destroyed and continue whatever you were doing there.
fun detail in this game is that the music actually changes depending on what captain you're playign as! olimar jsut has normal music, but when controllign louie it's put into a swing tempo! very minor but it's a wonderful little detail. also, jsut liek in all pikmin games, teh music changes based on what you're doing (more percussion when fighting, something added when carrying treasure, small things like that. this was in one i jsut never mentioend it but it's such good detail.)
i love how even now on the switch hd rerelease they didn't fix the president's closed eye int eh opening cutscene. they had the opportunity to do so but it still remains closed for a while.
one thing you are missing otu on in this rerelease is branded content. in the original gamecube/wii releases, the battery is duracell brand, for instance. most of the treasures are product placement, and it's a bit dissapointing that such is not the case anymore.
hearing you scream "let olimar see his family" while cooking made me so happy because yes, the plot of the second game is SO INSANE when you look at the first, but it is so funny too.
(the only difference that even impacted me was teh reduced pikmin on the field count) 4 has been an absolute blast, bringing about all the things from 1 and 2 that i missed while being so unique your'e going to have so much fun. i still miss teh swarm feature.
ah yes, the louie face. we all love it. love louie face. it's a fandom favorite. louie is an absoltue foodie your'e going to love him or hate himd epends on who you are he's a devisive character but he's so scrunkly
we told you olimar's voice is mega deep. and alsot that voice is going to last the rest of the franchise. olimar is so funny as a character
you can touch pikmin to pick them up in your party, but you have to whistle captains.
the presidents voice is much higher pitched. also he is never named in game, but the fandom calls him sacho/sancho. or at least hte pikmin serve ri'm in does
the piklopedia is what made me begin to fall in love with pikmin. the amount of detail in the world that doesn't need to be there is so charming and so much fun. i hope you enjoy reading olimar's notes on both creatures and treasures! they add so much character and even moments of humor, and sometimes even tips. the fact they even add the plants like the pellet posies and dandelions just makes it all the better. do what you like, btu i think it could be fun if you read new creature entries between days as you discover creatures. and maybe read treasure entries as you get complete sets?
i personally find it better to walk with only one captain at a time, as sometimes when trying to run away you can end up running into the other captain and casualties occur because of it. but that's just a preference thing
your failure with the bulborb was because youc ame fromt he side of the borb, not the back of it. they're asleep. you ahve the time and space to get all the way around to the backside. take advantage of this. also, once you start throwing, do not stop. if you keep throwing often they'll be so focussed on trying to shake the min off that they won't have the chance to bite.
i'm so happy to see (because my first few paragraphs were written during the intro sequence) you hae a natural instinct to split the captains to multitaske (you monitor wall while you grab treasure) that instinct is going to serve you *so well* in this game. there's also, however, parts where you'll want them together. assess accordingly.
when dealing with individual dwarf bulborbs, tossing directly on to the back is best. when dealing with a bundle of 3 or more, swarming is more effective.
so one thing that makes pikmin 2 so fun is it is **WILDLY** UNBALANCED! the purple pikmin are the easiest showcasing of this. they have this stomp affect wehn thrown that can stun enemies temporarily! throw a bunch of purples at once and you basically instakill some things... however, due to them not having an onion, you feel ever purple you lose. they're hard to colelct, so whether you make them your warriors, or just use them for carrying... it's a choice you have to make. this lack of balance goes both ways though. purple pikmin is just a wildly unbalanced mechanic in your favor.
TYSM for all of this Tomlia!!! Much appreciated! I can’t wait to play more!!
Thank you Master Sky! Your tips and advice help so much!! Stay awesome!! 🙏
Man i wish i could be up for the premier. Gotta work early tomorrow so i guess ill save it for later, excited for this!
No worries Tako!! Thanks for the continuous love and support!
Pikmin 2 my favorite in the series! This was a great first episode and can't wait for the next!
The pikmin singing can indicate if you've collected all the treasure on a sublevel, along with that strange winding down noise you heard.
Funfacts time!:
1. In the Gamecube version there are certain treasures that have been changed in the Switch version. Like the battery originally being a Duracell! The bottle cap was also changed I believe it was a Dr. Pepper before? I can't remember, there's to many bottle caps. 😂
Very interesting!! I may react to that, not sure yet! Thanks again Lightning!!
Thank you! I plan on reading everything once I 100% the game. I’ll be making a stream about it. :)
Back at it! This game can be very forgiving and unforgiving at the same time. No time limit means let it rip! Excited for you. I'll be watching when I can
Thank you Zachary!!
Here’s a cool thing…when you play as Louie the music is swing tempo, while playing as Olimar makes the music in a straight tempo.
That's what I've noticed! Very interesting!
The only good thing about him
Time for me to rewatch the Pikmin 2 let’s play, the game that made me the freaking god of Pikmin and fall in love with the Pikmin series can’t wait to laugh at your mistakes as much as you probably were looking back at this
Excited for this series, can’t wait for you to get to Pikmin 4 as well, its been a blast so far.
Thank you TwoCoolio!! I’m very excited for Pikmin 4!
Just finished the Pikimin 1 play through! Great series man. Keep up the good work. Excited to continue watching along; all the way through to 4.
Love seeing your Likes increasing as we get later in the series. You deserve it.
Thank you so much David! That’s very nice of you. Much love man! 🙏
Poor Olimar just wanted to go home and bring the alien souvenir for his son. 😢
IKR? 😞
Awesome start to the let's play Ganvious! Glad you're enjoying the game so far. Can't wait for the next part!

Ur energy is way to good xD I loved it since watching 1 . Glad to watch more content from you
Thank you Prism! That means a ton! 🙏
(Not a spoiler) One thing thats absent from the pikmin 2 switch port is that there is A LOT of real life brands in the original games, for example, the battery in the tutorial is actually a duracell battery in the original.
I’ve heard about that! Very unfortunate for sure!
Wigwam Battle Tip #1: Adult Bulborbs
When fighting Common Members of the Grubdog family Such as Spotty Bulborbs (Recently Encountered) Always Approach from behind. (Duh we know that)
But a tip that can help exceptionally in keeping death tolls low, When attacking from behind when a Bulborb begins to shake whistle your pikmin off them just before they finish their shake to nullify the numbers knocked off and stunned by said Bulborb.
Recommended Types: Purple, Red [Lower Risk if lost].
Will do Wigwam! Appreciate you!
Hey Ganvious! So just a little thing I thought was nice, is that in the original game, the treasure were actual objects we have today, like the battery at the start was straight up Duracell! But there was probably licensing issues or something
this is gonna be so hype!
I’m very excited!!
super excited for you to play the sequel, it’s gonna be fun to watch! goodluck man, this one is gonna be more tough :)
Thank you Shurina!! Much appreciated! Can’t wait!
this game was so ahead of his time for gamecube with all the extra! Shame it gets so hard near the end haha!
Pikmin 2 is my favorite, Bare in mind I think all 4 games are freakin great. But the details and feel of pikmin 2 are way to iconic. Nostalgic even. Down to the colors and sound effects. This game speaks to me.
That’s so sweet! Hopefully you’ll enjoy my blind playthrough of the game! Loving it!!
Pikmin 2 is my favorite! nice vid
I love how you voice the low-pitched characters with high-pitched voices and vice versa. 😂
Only the ship's voice is accurate lol
LOL
Aaaaa im so excited! Almost as exciting when i watch the pikmin 4 trailer. Im so ready for this series and give tips if possible
Thanks Eli!!! I’m excited to play it!! :D
Hey Furrvious.
Bob the baked potato should be a better name for you.. 😤
So excited to start watching your Pikmin 2 journey! I hope you are enjoying it so far!
here are some tips you can leave louie at a onion to pluck the pikmin while you do something else and normally you can carry double of what an Item is needed to carry (purple pikmin kinda mix it up) but it still goes
Excellent idea! I’ll do that in future! Thanks again MP3!!
Ah, I see thoust hath returned.
The bread observes.
Thank you yet again bread
So, I missed the premiere due to being KNOCKED OUT 🤣🤣 But thank goodness for replays. I will say this...the way they bought in the new lore for this sequel was SO GRIMEY for Olimar. Getting ship jacked because of some irresponsible needs to miss a few plates Mayor/CEO/whoever that is. But...I gotta say these new missions are looking very promising and can't wait to see more coverage. Awesome gameplay as always, Ganvious!! C u in the next video.
Thanks SilentD! Glad you got plenty of rest!! 😂
Amazing first video goatvious!
Thanks man!!
🐐 BAHH!!!
Nice Veggietales reference lol
LOL thanks! 😂
Shows that you’re a true Pikmin fan if all these different factors of each game make it hard for you to decide! :D
Finally was able to watch, but I'll keep this comment short since theres a lot already
Dont worry about wasting time, you got all the time in the world go at your own pace.
Purple Pikmin are gonna be your fighters in 2.
And whenever going down to the next floor or leaving a cave, your Pikmin dont have to be in your party. They'll automatically follow you to the next floor.
Can't wait to see you get into harder stuff. This is gonna be exciting
Thank you Tako! I’m very excited!!
Enjoy your time with Pikmin 2, it's a treat!
Loving it so far!!
I am hyped for this gameplay. All I can tell you is for me personally the caves are the scariest part of the game. Especially if it tells you to go deeper
Interesting!
Pikmin 2 has been hailed as one of the best the series has to offer. It can be difficult, but it is loved for a reason!
I’ve heard! I’m excited (yet nervous) to play more! Lol
Pro Tip : Use Purples
Noted! :D
YAY!!!!! good luck on completing it
Thank you Margaret!! :D
Yup! At the time of recording I had no idea, people were telling me in the premiere that’s what happened. It’s unfortunate, but understandable.
Yup! At the time of recording I had no idea, people were telling me in the premiere that’s what happened. It’s unfortunate, but understandable.
This is the hardest game in the series, so don't feel bad if things go horribly wrong very fast. Just take your time and have fun.
Will do! Thank you DarkTails!
I enjoy the title screen of the pikmin :) so cute/silly
Olimar is a Tomato 🍅
Louie is a Pear 🍐
Chacho is a Giant Bag if Money with a Dollar Sign 💰

Bro, you were just there the day before lol
That’s where the red onion was
It’s true usually large empty areas likely have a boss, but not all of them, especially not places where an onion was
I know that, I just expected a boss to spawn there this day lol
Bless your heart because this game is very crazy and good at the same time
I’m ready for the challenge! 😎
"But the meep meep is still the same"
I always thought they said it like pacman instead of pikmin
My knowledge of this game is greater than the other two, so I’ll probably give a lot more advice here!
Thank you!
The worst part is Olimar is probably a-ok with current circumstances and forgive Louie and the boss because he’s just such a “nice guy” in true Nintendo fashion. (To be fair the boss seems more of a klutz than a greedy guy.)
And yeah, those voices… just don’t fit. Even in the ironic sort of sense. *Shudders*
Finally, that Pikipedia reminds me so much of the Pandorapedia from the James Cameron’s Avatar game… it was AWESOME!
i do hope you try to do olimars voice as the low pitched one; i think its great that olimar and louies voices are so low while the presidents is high pitched
I may start doing that in the near future... 👀
Pikmin 2 is, by far, the hardest game in the series, so don’t beat yourself up over any mistakes or confusion! It’s a great experience that will teach and (in some cases) force you to learn multitasking! It’s hard at first, but when you start getting a flow? Hoooo it feels good!
Noted! TYSM Vannilow! Hope to see you around! :D
@@GanviousOf course! I came across your channel while watching people play Pikmin for the first time, and I gotta say you’re experiencing these games the same way I did when I first played them! I hope you’re loving the journey man, looking forward to seeing you grow as a player! 😁
I see why this is everyone’s favourite game just look at his eyes
The creature dex is so fun, its like a zoo!
It really is awesome!
Great video!
Thanks man!
PIKMIN 2!!! Time for funny
Epic funny
Love the videos 😊 just by the way Pikmin 2 is VERY HARD. So good luck!
Thank you Tomato!! Means a lot!
Have fun!
Thanks again Prince! Will do and much appreciated!!
🔥 first pikmin 2 video
Indeed, Captain!!🫡
Here is a tip to make caves more manageable. Most of the time you should not carry enemies back to the ship and instead leave them in the caves so you don’t split your army too much, or wait a while for the Pikmin to carry it to the ship. You won’t get more Pikmin while I’m caves.
I see. Thanks Daniel!
Your last sentence isn’t true, L tips
@@eagle56786 it is true, I think he means that you can't get pikmin from the ship/onions while In caves
Check the flowers for eyes do that some Pikmin 4 areas to ... Bigger squads of Pikmin can be more vulnerable when not taking care of properly let's say a bulborb wakes up and you run the leaves or purples will be gobbled when an enemy dies and eats Pikmin the Pikmin will be the regularly be spit out unless you wait too long
“The meep meep”
That one hurt to hear
LOL, I now know they say “Pikmin!!“ at the beginning don’t worry Lol
Your first taste of olimars voice as he says "louie" prepare to read everything in that voice lol
Oh GOD. 😂
Did they get rid of all the product placement from the original? I always thought it was so cool
Unfortunately, yes.
You will be on this one a longer time than Pikmin 1, guaranteed
Oh well! I’m ready! XD
You should read the Piklopedia on the enamies, becuse it has notes of how louie would eat them
oh hell yeah, TIME FOR PAIN!
Wears “I love pain” shirt.
I'm looking forward to one part of the game if you do it to see your reaction. That is all I'm going to say about it. I hope this isn't too much info.
Nope! I have no idea what you’re talking about so I’m excited! LOL
fyi this game has easter eggs on the title screen by clicking different buttons. The president also has a high pitched voice as you heard so use that instead of a deep voice
The president of the company isn't greedy so to speak. He took out a loan to pay a debt on a delivery and now hes 10,000 pokos in debt. 100 pokos is more than a years salary so thats a crap ton of cash
also olimar and louie backwards in Japanese is mario and luigi
In the piklopedia once you beat the game you unlock louies notes. The notes for some are absolutely hilarious
The battery was originally a duracell but copyright so they changed it. This planet in all the games is earth. The valley of repose is a street basically
Against the bulborb do not stop throwing like you did. keep throwing
The more you know! :O
Can't wait for the ender dragon fight
This guys gonna be just like DeeBeeGeek, except instead of Zelda it's Pikmin.
DeeBeeGeek is great, so that’s awesome that you’re comparing me to him! I’ve only played a couple Zelda games, so unfortunately I’ve never seen much of his let’s plays because I wanna play ALL the Zelda games for myself for the first time! Lol
Anyways, thank you so much!! 🙏
Underrated
Here’s a tip, purple pikmin can stun creatures if they land on them.
Cool!!
oh also, purples are extremely op, they can kill things in seconds
Can’t wait to use more of them! Lol
Ladies and gentlemen, this is where the best part behins
let the carnage begin.
Indeed! LOL
PLEASE read the treasure hoard entries for the final treasures of the game, there are some DEEP lore implications that will completely change your perspective on some things
I’ll do my best to read all the treasure entries, but maybe not the Piklopedia stuff unless it’s a must lol
9:03 BRO😭
Ganvious just to let you know that sound you heard in the caves is the sound telling you theres no more treasures on that floor just thought I'd tell you
