    I worked for Montgomery County School systems for 32 years. Where the Black Sisters lived is where the old Christiansburg High School was. There were tunnels under the school where pipes and electrical was run. Under the stage of the Auditorium is the original well that one of the murders happened. I have spent many hours there and never felt or saw any haunts. I have several coworkers that was scared to go in the tunnels and basement. C'burg is a cool little town.

    The shopping sprawl at the end of this segment is that size because it serves both Christiansburg and Blacksburg. When I was a student at Virginia Tech in the 1980s, Christiansburg and Blacksburg were two distinct places with a lot of "nothing" between the two of them on 460. That "nothing" is the modern-looking retail development that y'all saw.

    I had no idea Christiansburg was that big. Being born in and having spent my early years in the woods around Grundy, I also lean toward the smaller towns. I live in Roanoke but work in Christiansburg. I never knew any of these facts. The drive in movie theater is right below my grandmas house. One thing you didn’t mention is that Christiansburg is home to one of the largest car dealerships (if not the largest) on the east coast called Shelor Motor Mile. I’m a mechanic there. That’s right down from the drive in theater. Great video though I learned a lot that I didn’t know. If you ever go back thru the area I recommend checking out Blacksburg and going to Carrol Lee donuts. Best donuts ever in my opinion. Also check out Dude’s Drive In in Christiansburg too.

    My family lived between Christiansburg and Radford. Many Many years ago I got married and moved to Maryland . I'm from a really large family of eleven children, most have passed away now, but I still have relatives there. I remember main stree in Christiansburg, the theater and going to the fairgrounds each year. I attended Christiansburg high school. I still like coming back and looking around,visiting with my nieces and going to put flowers on my love ones that have passed away 😪 Yes I cherish my childhood memories. God bless this sleepy little town.

    Wow--both legendary folk heroes Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett once lived in Christiansburg... 👈

    • @galndixie
      @galndixie ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Boone led hunting and trapping expeditions for the settlers here, he was here for short periods between hunts, he didn't really live here, his family was in KY. Crockett was a hat-makers apprentice on Main St for a time as a teen, and he did live here for a short time for that. Booker T. Washington was the CI Superintendent while he was still running Tuskegee College, he didn't live here, but made visits to inspect the school. George Washington Carver also visited here.

      Well. It's more like the center of shipping the coal out of the area. I worked in Charleston for awhile a few years ago. I've had 80 year old blue haired women in their Mercedes and Lincolns give me the finger and use language that could teach thugs how to talk while cussing me out. Big, nasty frogs in a little pond. I much prefer Huntington. People are much nicer. And the people in Beckley are as overbearing and nutty as the people who elected Fetterman in Pennsylvania. Just educated opinions. And absolutely not aimed at any of the good, respectful people in these areas.

    Christianburg, VA, seems like a very nice place to live.
    Now on to "The Black Sisters"; what in tarnations?! 🤣 I'm surprise that no one has tried to cancel their name moniker or attempt to make it a problematic political or racial statement. In actuality, "The Black Sisters" sound like characters on the cast of a Stephen King movie or extras on The Exorcist. Fast forward to the 21st century: their style of dress would be considered Gothic fashion in today's world. The Town of Christiansburg should really consider branding and marketing "The Black Sisters" in order to make their town a preferred destination for Halloween goers, with festivities centered around "The Black Sisters" story and location. Doing so would create a needed cash cow for the town.
