  • DISCLAIMER...I AM NOT A PRO. This is my hobby and i learn as I go! I am not responsible if you get this wrong as you can cause pistons to touch valves. Be sure to verify piston to valve clearance.
Follow along as I degree the cams in my 4g63 Talon. You will need a couple of things to do this.
    Top Dead Centre Tool: amzn.to/2UastnK
    Degree Wheel: amzn.to/2Nx6GEc
Dial Indicator: amzn.to/2Ehiypx (this will work better than what i was using)
Once you have the tools you find top dead centre and make sure your degree wheel is showing exactly top dead centre. Then you proceed to set up the dial indicator to measure the lift at the valve on the intake and measure your open and close events at .050. Then adjust to match the cam card and repeat this procedure for the exhaust cam.

I know this is an old video, but I wanted to share my results. I originally degreed my cams this way and then installed solid lifters to re-check. Both cams were only off by 2 degrees. So, doing it this way will definitely get you in the ballpark.

Fantastic video, thanks for putting the time into making this as it's so helpful.
I just have one question that I cannot find an answer to anywhere - how do you actually mount the degree wheel? Do I need to buy a special tool. It looks like you have just drilled 2 holes in your degree wheel, with 2 bolts going into something?

Hey, sorry I missed this! I just used a couple of longer bolts for the crank pulley and bolted it through the degree wheel.
