Être fort comme un Turc ('to be strong like a turk'): This expression originates in the 15th century when the Turks had a reputation for being strong, almost unbeatable warriors due to their numerous victories. At the time, the Ottoman Empire ruled large parts of south-east Europe, north Africa and western Asia. It is said that François I, King of France, was gifted Turkish armour by Suleiman the Magnificent (the tenth and most famous sultan of the Ottoman Empire) during their alliance. When he wore it, he is said to have exclaimed: "Here I am now, strong as a Turk!" THE TURKS AND THE WEST from 11 days. Europe stood in awe of the Ottomans who crushed many states and conquered vast territories, going, as all patriotic Turks will proudly point out, "all the way to the gates of Vienna." European literature is replete with the depictions of the Turk as the hated enemy. The English often thought of the Turk as awe-inspiring and destructive. Thomas Fuller wrote in The Holy Warre (1639): "The Turkish Empire is the greatest... the sun ever saw. ...Grass springeth not where the grand signior's horse setteth his foot."

No army can withstand this kind of assault. The Kharajites and the Bedouin have no skill worth mentioning in shooting from horseback, but the Turk can shoot at beasts, birds, hoops, men, sitting quarry, dummies and birds on the wing, and do so at full gallop to fore or to rear, to left or to right, upwards or downwards, loosing ten arrows before the Kharajite can nock one ... and if they do turn their back, they are to be feared as much as deadly poison and sudden death; for their arrows hit the mark as much when they are retreating as when they are advancing.18 RICHARD M. When he wore it, he is said to have exclaimed: "Here I am now, strong as a Turk!"
THE TURKS AND THE WEST from 11 days.

As a Turk myself, if this president remains we won't do shit. Im telling you.
Writing in the ninth century, the Arab historian al-Jahiz captured the awe with which outsiders viewed these fighters:
If a thousand of their [Turks’] horse join battle and let off a single shower of arrows, they can mow down a thousand [Arabs’] horse. No army can withstand this kind of assault. The Kharajites and the Bedouin have no skill worth mentioning in shooting from horseback, but the Turk can shoot at beasts, birds, hoops, men, sitting quarry, dummies and birds on the wing, and do so at full gallop to fore or to rear, to left or to right, upwards or downwards, loosing ten arrows before the Kharajite can nock one ... and if they do turn their back, they are to be feared as much as deadly poison and sudden death; for their arrows hit the mark as much when they are retreating as when they are advancing.18

Turkey does not attack the base, even if it supports the opposition, Turkey's main goal is to eliminate the PKK. There may be a land operation against Kobani in the near future. Turkey does not actively attack in the region. This job is usually done by the air force. The army clears the region within 1 month and leaves the region

Where were you all these days ?
With Erdogan, constant earthquakes, extremists and border disputes(Kurdistan)? Think again pal.
Border disputes and extremists is what fuels military spending. The reason why Russia for example despite having a smaller economy than Italy is so much more powerful, militarily and possibly even politically.

How do you think United States hold onto Middle East. Türkiye doesn’t want to be the greatest power but a great power. And Türkiye is a load balancer which makes it more important for future.
The Turks were considered as the best warriors due to their horsemanship and skill in archery.
Kaushik Roy., n.d. Military Transition in Early Modern Asia, 1400-1750: Cavalry, Guns, Government and Ships (Bloomsbury Studies in Military History). p.24.
While there is much more than this to the Turks, it is true that Turks rank among history’s great empire-builders and rulers. Under the Ottomans they conquered vast territories in the Balkans and the Middle East and ruled for six hundred years.

I don't understand what's the point of funding all these proxy wars like in azerbaijan lybia Syria. Like they won't annex the territory. So what's the point to create refugees they have to take care for ? What turkey really get out of these, what do the turks get out of it ?
As a Turk, I say this: As long as there is Erdogan, we will never become a superpower.
Nope as long they are kemalist we will never be strong again
As a Turk, i can see regional influence of Turkey rising in following years just a slight improvement though, government spends enormous amounts of money to military tech and military industrial complex, yet also russia does this russian economical growth right now generally happens from government injecting money on military industries. Turkish economy on other aspects is doing quite bad, at some point even business elites were not ok with erdogan's idiotic policies. I can see Turkey being nato member version of Iran in future, autocratic (maybe not as much as Iran), economically generally doing unsatisfactory, western aligned but not western, militarily kinda strong but generally lacking behind country. Also do not forget the risks of Turkey, institutionalized religious cliques, this part is important because they influence military industrial complex, also there is coming earthquakes, and rising ultra nationalist sentiment.
Maybe, if no Earthquakes🫨
What the F do earthquakes have to do with being great power?
Japan does well even with a lot of strong earthquakes.
There is an upcoming earthquake in Istanbul in couple of years. A lot of people are going to die and the economy will suffer a lot.

As a turk I say: God Forbid!!!!!!
Turkey has no business of becoming "a great power", whatever that term means...
Turkey must develop its industrial base and educational level.. It must increase its exports and close its trade deficit.. It must remain as a social state, but it must end the "welfare payments" which rendered %25 of the people dependent to these payments. Other than that, turkey must avoid military competitions and confrontations at any cost...
