Congrats on your recent move to Sarasota, Cindy! Boca Grande is definitely worth checking out. This video was before Ian and I know that they did sustain a bit of damage from that storm (the beach-front restaurant that we went to is gone), but from what I've heard most of the island is pretty much back to normal. If you're referring to the clip at 15.34... that was just a stock footage shot that we used to represent "paradise"... we would love to find that beach someday, but we have no idea where it is!
My husband and I LOVE your Florida content so much! Definitely one of my favourite channels to watch. We can't wait to get back down there to visit soon. These beaches looked absolutely beautiful and not very busy...but maybe that's because of the weather 🤷🏼♀️ Enjoyed this episode so much. Looking forward to the next one already 🙂🌴

We retired & moved to Florida 18 months ago…if not for you, we may not have made it to Tarpon Springs, Shell Key, Caladesi, Pass a Grille, Long Boat & plan on getting over to Fort DeSoto soon. We live in Parrish…Anna Maria Island is our go to, as we can get there in 20-25 minutes(non snow bird season) but because of your videos we have found so many other beautiful places. Thank you

Yeah, we'd be curious to see the inside too. Couldn't imagine wanting to live there though even if we could ever afford it. The taxes and hurricane insurance would be unbelievable! The incident with Jamie's hair was a bit scary indeed. I (Skylar) actually had no idea that it meant you were at a high risk of getting struck by lightning. Thank goodness Jamie knew to quickly run to the vehicle!

Haha not trying to be a dream crusher. And we did say "yet". We fully expect that we (and you guys too) will be making good money on TH-cam some day, although we'll probably never stop flying on budget airlines and staying in $50/night airbnb's 😂. The lightning situation was pretty scary, thank goodness the car was close by!
Boca Grande is one of our favorite places in SWF. The $6.00 toll is worth every penny ten times over to escape the traffic, high rises, and crowds of the mainland, especially if you bring your own food like we do. You'll know you are in a different world as soon as you cross the bridge. It is pristine, pastoral, quiet, and elegant. A combination of old Florida and Bermuda, with lots of coconut palms and spectacular beaches full of tropical shells. We like to stroll around the village to admire the restored southern cottages with their lush tropical gardens. The most amazing thing is they actually let us day tripper tourists in due to the fact there is a state park on the island, otherwise this place would be closed to outsiders. There are no gas stations and the locals make use of golf carts and bikes to get around with adds to the relaxed ambiance of the place. I have never seen life guards on the beaches. The best place for shelling is the southern end of the island around the two jetties, but be careful of the current and steep drop off. The island is the largest natural deep water harbor in Florida, and was used for shipping until a sea port was established in Tampa. Very nice video. Enjoy them all. Thank you.

Wow I can definitely see that things are pretty pricey there. Especially for us Canadians with the exchange conversion... quite high!! I think it looks lovely there, but I'm not sure I'd be wanting to pay those high prices when there are places like Smokin' Jerry's - that's more our style!
Yes very pricey 🤑💸 very easy to spend all your money at one place. We were so happy to find some budget friendly options, even if we had to catch one when leaving the island on our way home. Smokin' Jerry's was much more our style too 😊

For sure. If it wasn't for her idea to head back, we would have either been scootin in the downpour or riding it out under a beach shelter for an hour. The hair thing was a bit scary... only time I'd seen that happen is after rubbing a balloon on someone's head!

We're both huge beach bums, and from the videos of yours I seen so far, Boca Grande has the nicest water! It reminds me of Exuma Bahama water, which is pretty much like swimming in a crystal clear swimming pool. Would you agree it's the best beach in FL in terms of clear water? I love how secluded the beach is as well.
As someone who has experienced a lightning bolt inches from my body I am so glad you realized you were getting charged up and got safe. That beach though. Totally worth a visit even if the day ends stormy.
What a scary experience 😬🌩 I am thankful Skylar noticed and commented on my hair because I couldn't feel it at all! We agree, even though the afternoon ended up being stormy, the hours we had on the beach in the morning were totally worth the trip!
Omg ...I have never heard about the lighting chance when your hair stands up... Will have to look that up myself. We get some lightning around here but not too common. Good thing that rain cleared some of the people and made parking and getting around easy. Not a big fan of smoked flavour on my salmon...but would still give a go. You did well putting this video together ... there is always ways of making areas cheaper 👍👍

I couldn't feel that my hair was standing up so when Skylar started looking at me funny and said it looked like I had rubbed a balloon on my head to create static electricity I knew I had to get off the beach! The waters are just amazing around Boca Grande.... but wow, the prices for houses are huge. Can imagine ever paying 16 million for a property...too much room for me.. lol. Congrats Skylar for quiting your corporate job, I have to watch the funds too but you still get to see heaps. You guys are doing well so won't be long before you don't have to worry about it as much
We really got lucky with being able to enjoy the beach while the 🌞 was still out during our visit. We also wouldn't know what to do with that much space 😆so I think we are content with day trips to the island. We sure hope the sacrifice and hard work will eventually pay off.
Nice video! Been many, many years since visiting Boca and this video makes me want to return. Gotta check out that gorgeous lighthouse and that restaurant with those wings!! Not very many places offer smoked wings. Love how you stay flexible with your schedule. Hard for me to function without coffee first thing though, you did good waiting til afternoon, LOL.

We would love to go back to spend more time in the park near the lighthouse (when it isn't downpouring 😆) Normally coffee is #1 on the itinerary, but when we saw the color of the water, we knew it was worth pushing back the caffeine ☕
You didn't mention one of the best places - The Gasparilla Inn & Club. Also, didn't show how many golf carts are used for the transportation on the island.
Yeah... we kind of just ran out of time with that storm, but we had Gasparilla Inn & Club on our list of places to visit. Hopefully next time we make it to Boca Grande we can check it out!
Oh you just gave us a spot to go to later this year after Dan's craziness at work slows down. What a beautiful place! We will probably stop for a Pub Sub and take it with us!

Hi Jamie & Skylar, it is Feb and we are on our 2nd Airbnb in Cape Coral, the 1st one was in St Pete in Jan. We've been two times to "Gasparilla Island Beach". even though it is a little far away it is worthy. I would says it has more seashells than Captiva & Sanibel Island Thanks for this video, now we have more info about more places to explore around.

Not sure that Boca Grande is for us but it is beautiful there. Great tip on the hair standing up and lightning...we were out fishing on Lake Pepin MN and the hairs on our heads was doing the same thing, two poles crossed paths and an electric charge jumped between the two and we high tailed it back to the cabin!! That being said I think Smokin Jerry's will be added to my Google Maps page for a future stop so maybe a quick trip out to those gorgeous beaches may happen afterall
That's exactly what we though. Ultimately, it kind of won us over just for it's charm and beauty... but we definitely will know to pack a lunch next time we visit, or to just eat at Smokin Jerry's again! Glad to hear your situation on the lake didn't end badly. It seems that a lot of lightning strikes do occur when you're on the beach or out on the water.
The Florida storms come in quick. We have been stuck doing a couple of miles on our ebikes on the pinellas trail SOAKING wet. I joked that after one of those rides, I would have been dryer if I can jumped in a pool. LOL. Also, as someone raised in Oregon, if you ever find yourselves there, you must check out Haceta Head lighthouse. It is so picturesque and one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world.
They sure do this time of year! I can imagine that taking ebikes on the trail this time of year is always a bit risky regarding getting caught in the rain. I am so glad I was able to get back to the car before the storm in this episode, I am not sure how our scooter would have held up in a downpour like that 😬😆
I’ve lived in North Port for about 11years now, and my husband is always fishing at Boca Grande. But today we visited this island in a different way. He found himself a new fishing spot, I got to relax and explore the state park, which the water is amazing. We also explore the lighthouse museum, which is very historical and knowledgeable.
Very nice video but you missed the best lighthouse & beach on the island. At the end of the island a little futher down from The South Beach resturant, sits the beautiful Boca Grande lighthouse with an amazing, uncrowed beach. My favorite!
Hi Kathy! We absolutely would have continued making our way south if the rain would have held off a bit longer... but we honestly didn't even know that there was another lighthouse on the island. Love Boca Grande, we went many many years ago and it was a similar kind of day, the sea was eerily calm and nobody on the beach (we went to the south where 2nd lighthouse is) the sky came over so dark and the water was an amazing turquoise. Your day looked like my absolutely perfect day. Sun, beach, sea, storm, good food and drink! Love the videos, thank you.

Your videos are great! I love Florida but I only go for a week every summer and your videos always get me exited for vacation! When I’m older I might live in Florida because I love the wildlife and landscape. My favorite area is Tampa🌴

Not very many places offer smoked wings. Love how you stay flexible with your schedule. Hard for me to function without coffee first thing though, you did good waiting til afternoon, LOL.

We would love to go back to spend more time in the park near the lighthouse (when it isn't downpouring 😆) Normally coffee is #1 on the itinerary, but when we saw the color of the water, we knew it was worth pushing back the caffeine ☕
You didn't mention one of the best places - The Gasparilla Inn & Club. Also, didn't show how many golf carts are used for the transportation on the island.
Yeah... we kind of just ran out of time with that storm, but we had Gasparilla Inn & Club on our list of places to visit. Hopefully next time we make it to Boca Grande we can check it out!

Boca Grande is definitely worth a visit in our opinion. And grabbing a Pub Sub before going to the island is a great idea!

Hi Jamie & Skylar, it is Feb and we are on our 2nd Airbnb in Cape Coral, the 1st one was in St Pete in Jan. We've been two times to "Gasparilla Island Beach". even though it is a little far away it is worthy. I would says it has more seashells than Captiva & Sanibel Island Thanks for this video, now we have more info about more places to explore around.

Not sure that Boca Grande is for us but it is beautiful there. Great tip on the hair standing up and lightning...we were out fishing on Lake Pepin MN and the hairs on our heads was doing the same thing, two poles crossed paths and an electric charge jumped between the two and we high tailed it back to the cabin!!
That being said I think Smokin Jerry's will be added to my Google Maps page for a future stop so maybe a quick trip out to those gorgeous beaches may happen afterall
That's exactly what we though. Ultimately, it kind of won us over just for it's charm and beauty... but we definitely will know to pack a lunch next time we visit, or to just eat at Smokin Jerry's again! Glad to hear your situation on the lake didn't end badly. It seems that a lot of lightning strikes do occur when you're on the beach or out on the water.
The Florida storms come in quick. We have been stuck doing a couple of miles on our ebikes on the pinellas trail SOAKING wet. I joked that after one of those rides, I would have been dryer if I can jumped in a pool. LOL.
Also, as someone raised in Oregon, if you ever find yourselves there, you must check out Haceta Head lighthouse. It is so picturesque and one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world.
They sure do this time of year! I can imagine that taking ebikes on the trail this time of year is always a bit risky regarding getting caught in the rain. I am so glad I was able to get back to the car before the storm in this episode, I am not sure how our scooter would have held up in a downpour like that 😬😆
I’ve lived in North Port for about 11years now, and my husband is always fishing at Boca Grande. But today we visited this island in a different way. He found himself a new fishing spot, I got to relax and explore the state park, which the water is amazing. We also explore the lighthouse museum, which is very historical and knowledgeable.

Very nice video but you missed the best lighthouse & beach on the island. At the end of the island a little futher down from The South Beach resturant, sits the beautiful Boca Grande lighthouse with an amazing, uncrowed beach. My favorite!

Love Boca Grande, we went many many years ago and it was a similar kind of day, the sea was eerily calm and nobody on the beach (we went to the south where 2nd lighthouse is) the sky came over so dark and the water was an amazing turquoise. Your day looked like my absolutely perfect day. Sun, beach, sea, storm, good food and drink! Love the videos, thank you.
It really was nearly a perfect day. Like you, we always enjoy a good storm (with a good drink) after we've gotten in our beach time!

What a fabulous tour of this island! That water is the prettiest blue I've ever seen. Don't blame you for bypassing the $34 lobster roll (whhhaaaa?!) and I'm happy you found a more cost wise option for lunch. Right?! that is pricy 💰 but people do rave about it. We were very thankful to find some reasonable options as well. Most days we are budget travelers and really appreciate finding good deals on great food.
