Hello! I'm 25 years old and i play handball. Before 5 years i put out my shoulder in the game. After days-months my shoulder continues to put out.So it is time to do the arthroscopic surgery. It is a painful surgery too. After 1 year i play again but in 2016 i had an other injury at the same shoulder,so i do the surgery who called "Latarjet" after 2 and a half year i play again but i've very careful so far.If you exercise normal with weights its ok..Sometimes you have the feeling that your shoulder isnt good in his position and you are scared if it goes oyt again, but it doesnt. Its better surgery than Artroscopy i think.Anyway thanks for listening me.
Greek Emperor hey thanks for the tips man I’m getting laterjet procedure on Wednesday for recurrent shoulder dislocations I fight in mma and jiu jitsu and was having trouble dislocated at least 8 times so after surgery gonna do a lot of rehab and it’s good to see I don’t have to worry about dislocation if I do the rehab right
Makkavelli bro I’m over a month a yeah I feel my shoulder is kinda lumpy on the front i just started physio this week but it doesn’t bother me just focused on getting range of motion back
@@yandhi4202 so I havnt fought competitive yet because of coronavirus but I’ve trained hard and was giving and getting 100% from everybody and my shoulder was strong hardest part was confidence I’m not gonna lie I was scared for somebody to even touch my arm but I feel good and safe now definitely recommend it and a lot of ufc fighters have been getting this surgery because it’s only of the most guaranteed to get you back fighting because other surgeries don’t exactly give you’re shoulder the opportunity to withstand some strengths or pressured
I lost 27% of my glenoid bone and wound up needing a DTA, but the post-op physiotherapy is exactly the same as with a Latarjet. Plus I was down under for about the same amount time. Felt like less than half a second.
The 'new' structure is vastly different than the old, natural structure. After revalidating, does the new shoulder structure come with impairments or limitations?
I had arthroscopy on my right shoulder, I need to have this surgery. Does the arm then move normal? Can I play my sports normally later? I knew you can after arthrosis later, are you?
BRUNO MALTEZ CARNEIRO Maltez I did latarjet 10 years ago and my shoulder didn't dislocate. Do latarjet and don't do arthroscopy, that is based on my doctor and my research.
@@fikryiprahim4716keyhole surgery is absolute crap,,take it from me had 6 opps the all failed,,Had Lartajet best thing ever..Trust me my sholder had disslocated on 23 seperate occasions in the past.
I had this surgery about 23 days ago. I have almost no pain.. I can lift my arm up to about head level. Still feels stiff obviously. It’s only been 3 weeks. But I feel good tbh. I just hope I get back to 100%
I’ve had this surgery done and it’s been about three years. My shoulder hurts sometimes quite frequently and it feels just like it used to when it would dislocate but it doesn’t dislocate. Should I be wary of using it or am I good to keep working out? I’m wanting to start boxing again, but even throwing a football with my dog makes it hurt pretty bad so idk what throwing an overhead right would do to it at about 50%.
It shouldnt feel like dislocating again,,either a bad opp or the glenoid they out there that they cut off was too small...They can actualy re doo it by takin a piece of bone from your hip...But what i will say befre all that is strengthen it,,,do alot of band and strength work tjen it will feel good,,swimming too..
You certainly can--after it's all healed up, which should take about three months for a young person. Since I had this done, I've done a lot of high-intensity and extreme-endurance workouts (including ultra-distance triathlons and pull-ups with a 30-pound weight vest). And I've made over 500 skydives (my last dislocation happened on skydive #1, leaving me to deploy, fly, and land a canopy with one arm). And the shoulder has remained very stable for me, 4.5 years post-op; I've even eaten pavement at 25 mph, impacting right on my bad shoulder, without experiencing anything more than superficial damage. I would say this, though: Each time your arm moves in a new way for the first time since surgery (e.g., the first time you do pull-ups again), you'll get some extra soreness, compared to your good shoulder. It's probably just some scar-tissue adhesions breaking loose. Take it easy-ish until that soreness goes away; you'll find that it stops happening with additional workouts.
I’m about 3 months post op and find it very hard to do regular arm movements, can anyone tell me If that’s normal and what to expect realistically. I’m 22
Yep! Year and a half realistically before you are close to 100%... athletically tho. Still have some inflammation but I’m near 100% muscularly, but already am more stable than before
@@yandhi4202 I had this done 10 months ago and I'd recommend it if your shoulder dislocates out a lot. (Mine did atleast once a month). It hasn't pop out at all since. I still cant throw hard or do a push up but I can train jiu jitsu again which is all I care about. I still do rehab daily and I say I'll get back to 100% at so point (I'd imagine the year and a half mark)
Most painful surgery i've ever had, nerve block wore off after 12 hours and pain meds didn't help. I made 3 trips to the ER the first 72 hours because of the pain. I was shaking and had an altered state of consciousness. it's now day 5 and the pain has mostly subsided except for the occasional spasm. Be tough, you'll make it just fine. Don't be afraid to ask for stronger pain meds either. Everyone reacts to having a bone cut off and relocated differently.
I only suffered ongoing pain for about a week wasn't to bad with good medication after that its completely stopped I'm 2 and half weeks now into the surgery. Hope youve healed well and doing great!
Dude best thing is laterjet for consistency in dislocation I had surgery sept 19 close to my third week in of post op recovery I have not accurate numbers but I would say 90% to 98% flexion and rotation all around with my left arm pretty much everything is identical to my other shoulder I read something about the biceps and yea mine was saggy and wouldn’t look like my other when I flex but also my chest was kinda asleep too but after icing and kept doing my exercises tbh idk if the painkillers are anti inflammatory too but I felt those helped with the pain and waking up my bicep and peck but I actually been off of them for about 3 days now I’m 22 weigh 155 pounds I’m very active I’m a marine and on my free time I play basketball and lift and super optimistic in my surgery

Man, i will have the same surgery. Did it work for you? How much time it took you to recover? How bad was your shoulder to need this surgery? Sorry for all the question.

Quite a genius surgery
I agree
excellent animation congratulations

One mistake. Always use malleolar screws for Fixation. That's what the founder of laterjet procedure still uses.
What is the difference ?? And do you know if these screws might ever disintegrate
I'll try to correct it
