After over 50 yrs. of camping, I have experienced many things. I have come across bears, snakes, and numerous other forms of wildlife but I never felt fear. First, no matter where I go camping, I always have a dog with me and over the past 50 yrs., none of them have been small dogs. The one I have now is a Boxer that is tall enough to lay his head on the dining room table and weighs in between 115 and 120 lbs. He's very territorial and protective. Also, I never go camping without knowing what forms of predatory animals are in that area and carry a firearm powerful enough to take any of them down (.357 or .44 magnum). I might even carry a short barrel .12 ga. as well. Just remember, the most dangerous of all animals you may come across in the woods is humans.
I agree with you ,,I never felt fear isome of my best memories or in tents,,people and bears can break glass to get in,, I would not pitch a tent in a crack heads back yard and dogs are your best defense,,your personal alarm system
Lots of big wildlife in Canada. We're not permitted to carry a handgun except to and from a licensed range, and almost nobody would carry a long gun if they're not hunting. Maybe in a few areas with heavy grizzly populations but even there, most of us don't.
Everything about life is a risk; camping is no different. I've camped in a tent most of my young adult life and have always heard things go bump in the night, even had a bear sniff along my tent wall no problem. That said I never camp without a firearm.
I live in northwest montana, probably one of the most remote areas of the country outside of Alaska, and have grown up camping and backpacking with tents all my life. It’s actually crazy that this many people in the comments truly think forests are filled with inbred serial killers, 3000lb bears, and Native American spirits do you guys not realize how stupid you sound? I guess some people just enjoy fear mongering, trust me people your far more safe in the wilderness than you are in a city coming from a man who camps 50 miles out in the wilderness solo, weird things happen in the woods but every single odd experience I’ve had has amounted to absolutely nothing. Just be bear aware, tell family where you’re camping ahead of time, and don’t get hung up on stupid nonsensical fairy tale shit like this.
I had a friend from Vietnam who was nervous in any area that resembled forest. "Oh, why people live out here, Bill?" But she wasn't afraid to ride her scooter through Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Where it wasn't safe to carry a purse or wear jewelry. It's all in what you're used to.

Not to make light of this, but wouldn't auto accidents be far more numerous than this sort of thing? I agree that tents are not a good idea while alone in the forest. As he says, the only thing a tent will protect you from are insects, mosquitos, gnats, etc. but nothing can protect you from an auto accident. So yes, I agree that this is a much better idea than tent camping.

There are people that don't want to be found that live in places like this. I would never travel without a firearm. I would certainly not sleep in a tent. The motor vehicle is a better option but it's not the best option. A window can be broken in a matter of no time. The tires can be flattened. There is no safe method. Being on guard that all times. Learning your escape before you need it. And always carry a firearm. More importantly know how to use it. Otherwise it's a paperweight!

I don't tarp camp, bur one advantage I can see to that is visibility. To me that's the big drawback to tent camping. You can see nothing around you, but if you have a light on inside its a big glowing beacon to whatever's around that you're there. Enjoy your videos!

I used to go way out in the middle of nowhere, but I don't anymore. I have found possible Sasquatch tracks myself here in northern Arizona & have friends all over the country that have had various experiences with them. At Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky my friend found a trackway in the mud with dozens of prints going every which way. They were digging up the freshwater clams that had been exposed by the drawing down of the lakes for winter pool. There broken shells everywhere. There was even a small footprint, maybe 6-inches long amongst the bigger ones. One of the group is a retired police officer & he directed the casting of several of the prints. Anyone who claims there is no evidence of Sasquatch is either totally ignorant, or scared & subconsciously/willfully lying to you AND themselves. Then, there are those who are in an official capacity/position who are directed to lie to the people regarding what I believe is a genuine public safety issue, which is at LEAST negligence if not an outright crime! I don't ever think I've seen an outdoor channel's video that promoted so much fear of the outdoors. I get it, there's dangerous things in the woods. The other growled at me and made me very uncomfortable. The size of great Danes too. Nobody around for miles. Don't know where they came from. If my firearm was in car or tent, wouldn't have been quick enough to grab it. Beware, all kinds of unseen and unexpected danger in camping! Stay safe out there.
Same here, I've always tent camped and never an issue. Black bears in my site too. My kids were taught no food in/near the tent ever. Yep, lightning can be an issue but it doesn't happen that often. Well,I used to sleep in a tent when bike packing, recently I slept where the forest borders field in a sleeping bag ,but without a tent.I heard dog or perhaps wolf barking somewhere deep in the woods.Fortunately,it didn't approach me. Carrying a tent is just an addded weight. The advantage of the tent is that it gives more protection against mosquitos than just a sleeping bag.
A restaurant owner removed the chairs at the tables because most of his customers didn’t come in to eat every day. He said that he will put the chairs back when most of his customers go to his restaurant to eat. Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Always carry a firearm , a a large pig sticker , never eat where you lay down , never sleep with any type of food , but most of all always keep a fire 🔥 going and some form of 🚧🚧🚧 barriers
Backpackers are stuck with a tent. So some thoughts: A bear has a better nose than the drug-sniffing dogs at the customs station, and looking for food is it's full-time job. My tent smells like nylon. No food in the tent, ever. The camp kitchen is in a different location Clean up promptly and thoroughly after eating. If you're not on a developed trail with bear-safe food caches, hang your food etc.. Or there are bear-proof containers that you can buy, When packing, I ensure that my tent, fly and sleeping bag are well separated from the food. In some parks, black bears have become potentially dangerous because careless campers and flat-out idiots have taught them to associate people with food. In actual wilderness, although you might feel more isolated, you're probably less likely to be bothered by critters. If you're a bit new to wilderness and sleeping out there makes you nervous even in a vehicle, I suggest putting a trail camera out during the night. The fear of what's out there will be somewhat balanced by the hope of an exciting video. i can almost guarantee that the only thing you'll get is yourself turning it on and off. But...there's always a chance!
I've known this for a long time... which is why I camp in a hammock or on the ground with a bedroll. But I always make sure that I have bear spray, air horn, and firearm close enough to defend myself. Of course if you are not awake when a bear comes up and sniffs you, forget fumbling around for bear spray or air horn. Go straight for the firearm and aim to kill. That will usually scare off the bear and any critters nearby.
Also, you should never cook your food or keep ANY food inside your tent or vehicle in a remote camping area. Especially in bear country when bears are active.
The clothes you wear will smell like anything you cook, and people forget that. They put their food and pots away, yet sleep in a tent smelling like their dinner:)
@@MoneyMan28- What a crock. My little family was fine after my husband passed, I worked and we didn’t have a lot- but had a good life! Definitely worth the $ and effort, and certainly not as much as you say.
Totally agree with you that forests are bad creatures walking around, and obviously, we don't believe till a bad thing happens. Then we ran like rabbits everywhere
I like your advice and camping in a tent is dangerous especially if you are alone. I know someone whose brother and sister were killed by lighting while camping in a tent. I know of someone who as killed by a bear and his wife was badly injured by the same bear while hiking in a national park. I only tent camped with my family and it was a once in a lifetime experience.
Thanks for the tips. I have been designing my own top deck for setting up a regular tent on the rooftop of my truck. My plan is to travel with my big dogs and camp on the roof in the tent while they sleep in the canopy. I think I'll just try to stay away from camping under tall trees if I can help it and pray I don't get eaten first!
I was at a campground just north of Ouray, Colorado way far back from the other campers to find seclusion. 3Am comes my black bear visitor sniffing my tent (no food in it) all by myself. Never again have I gone camping since 2017.

@@EKEACRES Thank you, seen quite a few of your videos and very informative and great tips. This one left me a little spooked quite frankly. Have done a lot of tent camping in semi and very wilderness spots across Canada without major problems. Maybe I was just lucky and firearms are mostly very prohibited in Canada!
Hey Kevin, I think you stated on a previous video that you are from western NY or somewhere near there. Are you near Angola NY or have you camped there ever? I camped there once and later found out there is some sort of cryptid up there...I think they called it Pigman or something like that. Have you heard of it? I was thinking maybe that's what attacked your vehicle.
Great minds think alike. LOL . . . "Beans, beans, the musical fruit. The more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel. Beans, beans for every meal!! 😁
I do not understand why campers do not install a trail camera pointing at your sleeping area so at least you will know what your dealing with. If you do get killed, at least the authorities will know what they are dealing with. Manny cameras allow you to transfer the pictures from the camera right to your smartphones. And then you can post them all over TH-cam.
Click bait shock value puts a few cents in your pocket.Never in 30 years of solo backpacking has anything happened "Unexplainably".Your chance of getting killed where you live in a town or city is far greater than the wilderness percentage wise.I'll take my chances with Bigfoot.Have a nice life.
Why have you disable your comments on a lot of your most recent videos? I do understand there's some assholes out there but I think that you can stop individual comment. I have never left anything other than either a question, an idea or a polite comment. I certainly hope you answer this question. WoW, two years ago you posted your comment with no response from the uploader. Sad, because it shows that the viewers and subscribers mean nothing to the uploader. Just money mules.
I thought these were some interesting points that I never thought about. I saw this video then I subscribed and then I watched your don't let it in video. What about young men or young women who marry negative people have children with them and then they cannot just be without that person especially if they don't have access to their children except for you know cuz in some states men don't get custody of their children. I'm not a man but what I see a lot is that they men or people get connected through their children with negative people and then they cannot get rid of that I loved the video I like I said I sent it to my children but maybe you should go do another one about if you do have to have access to a negative person what can you do.
Being gay and single worked for me. Sounds like your talking about someone who got stuck married to a narcissist and can't get out. Yikes. I'm staying gay and single. Stay safe!
Despite the disclaimer, this video is useless fear-mongering, nothing more. Your safety risk is ten times bigger driving to your camping spot. Even the words he uses to describe the tent and the risk factors at play in the forest are suggestive of fear. No, this is simply a trash upload.
Thanks for making this video. It got me thinking twice before purchasing a tent. I think you’re absolutely right and I will need to modify my Jeep Wrangler so I can sleep inside my vehicle. Once again thanks for the advice.
I think it's best to use concealed natural shelters. They are sturdier and you can even make spikes around them for bears at the entrance. Best to dig into an alcove and have one entrance and a gun. If you have to use a tarp or tent I think a hammock and tent kinda low to the ground and surrounded by a lot of big branches buys you time. You can swing out of a hammock faster than a tent or even a tarp on the ground. Sleep with a headlamp around your head, knife on your hip sheathed, a Glock 20 in your chest holster, and a bear spray nearby. I wouldn't start fires because of people who I deem the most dangerous
It could have been a bigfoot trying to get in your car I played songs 91 over my campsite And annoy my ' with oil and walk off around it and bleed the blood of Jesus for protection😊

Whatever it is, scared these coyotes and scared me too! It sounds very, very large, angry and dangerous! I won't go back! Washington state. I think it was woken up by coyotes and Not having it! Yikes! Also, sitting by camp fire at night when two very large wet dogs came upon us. The size of great danes. Nobody around for miles. Don't know where they came from. One seemed friendly and ran into my tent. The other didn't and growled at us making us very uncomfortable. Then they ran off. Super scary. Camping is loaded with unseen and unexpected danger. I'm done with that! Stay safe and great video man!
were they great danes?
@@susannaaskins8187 hi. No, not great danes. They had long shaggy hair. I think great danes have short hair. They were also soaking wet. As if running around the mountains. I don't ever want to see those dogs again! Danger, danger. Stay safe
Probably a 🐻 bear.
What bout KOA type campgrounds with amenities, people with kids all around you? Is that dangerous as well?
Thanks for the info. I will never ever go camping
In a tent. In the woods.
Yeah I've looked at those portable electric "fences" for tent camping.
@@attainableaudio4533 too much excessive weight that has only one function lol
Aside from bears, wolves, coyotes, and cougars. The BIG 3 is what I have to worry about. Bigfoot, Werwolf, and the Dogman.
I also seen videos of bears getting into vehicles and smashing window. Most people carry bear spray or other defense
@@EKEACRES lol!
Yeah they even warn against having bottled water in your tent... Should just say anything that has a sent toothpaste lip balm...
Hi there
Saw your video of 2 yrs ago abt pop up roof for your camper.
Started building one like yours..
good video...and accurate..ive tented alot but usually at campgrounds...some strange thing can happen there too
Yeah the bears "know" there is food in the campground
how does your car get attacked and you never seen what did it?? i smell a lot of scaremongering.
Don’t make a kid because it costs like $100,000 dollars from 0 to 18 years
@@MoneyMan28- What a crock. My little family was fine after my husband passed, I worked and we didn’t have a lot- but had a good life! Definitely worth the $ and effort, and certainly not as much as you say.
@@DChristina but a con, d0m is cheaper than paying 18 years of child support
You got a great point there.
It was a werewolf.
Pussy.
note to self... metal tent on wheels is superior
When you park, do so head-out so if you have to make a quick get away it isn't necessary to do any turnarounds.
My only fears in the outdoors are the chupacabra and the chupapija.
I personally carry a slingshot. No better protection! Lol😅
I was at a campground just north of Ouray, Colorado way far back from the other campers to find seclusion. 3Am comes my black bear visitor sniffing my tent (no food in it) all by myself. Never again have I gone camping since 2017.
The don't let it in video was so good I sent it to both of my children if I could I would have sent it to my grandchildren the comments are turned off on it but I just wanted to let you know that this is a really good point.
Maybe a dumb question but if someone/something wanted to get into the vehicle that badly, couldn't they have just broke through the glass?
absolutely.
I've seen bigfoot in the woods. Not the North American sasquatch...just a man with a big foot.
I don't like tents I can't see what's coming at me
Hey Kevin, I think you stated on a previous video that you are from western NY or somewhere near there. Are you near Angola NY or have you camped there ever? I camped there once and later found out there is some sort of cryptid up there...I think they called it Pigman or something like that. Have you heard of it? I was thinking maybe that's what attacked your vehicle.
while camping in gospel hump Idaho had grizzly walk through my camp in the middle of the night I was not expecting that
I'm not worried about cryptids, I was mugged by a human in a state park.
When you said “van camp” I thought pork and beans😁 Thanks. I like your channel and the way you think and conduct yourself. God Bless✝️
Great minds think alike. LOL . . . "Beans, beans, the musical fruit. The more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel. Beans, beans for every meal!! 😁
Tents are pretty safe in campgrounds if you don't have a van or a recreation vehicle just stay out of rule places
Im on disability and hate the city . I. Feel best in nature .
Where have you solo back packed? How remote? Did you camp far from trails?
Exactly!!
I camp in my Honda Odyssey. I will never sleep in a tent again for the same exact same reason. I've seen "them", and a tent is a joke.
That's smart:)
Why have you disable your comments on a lot of your most recent videos? I do understand there's some assholes out there but I think that you can stop individual comment. I have never left anything other than either a question, an idea or a polite comment. I certainly hope you answer this question. I enjoy watching your videos but in the same breath I also enjoy leaving sensible comments. Have a great day and stay safe and keep your powder dry!
WoW, two years ago you posted your comment with no response from the uploader. Sad, because it shows that the viewers and subscribers mean nothing to the uploader. Just money mules.
I've been to a West Ham V Man United football match. Now I'm scared of nothing. ⚽️ ⚽️
Thank you ❤❤
Probably had an argument you would have come back for your stuff in the day
You sure know how to put a damper on a great thing. Stay home sir.
Stay safe!
I search for videos produced by comical genius's , absolutely hilarious , some got some don't ! he should expand .
Great video and wonderful information
Glad you enjoyed it
You keep saying strange things. Do explain what exactly, please.
You wouldn't believe it anyway, so there's no point in wasting my time.
@@EKEACRES well you keep saying that. Some of us would believe it. Do tell!
Guess your not going to do a thru-hike...
I just bought a tent and camping supplies. I might stick to camping in my backyard after watching this!
That was very informative . I too had scary happenings in the middle of the night but lucky I was in a cabin, but a tent? Forget it
Come on now, you are much safer camping in a tent in the woods than you are walking down the street in any city.
What you have comments?? Awesome
Thanks for keeping them 😱
Yes I agree 👍
You should just stay home.
RV camping is way a lot better than tent camping 🏕 ⛺️.
Glamping, LoL... But seriously as long as your enjoying the outdoors have at it.
Despite the disclaimer, this video is useless fear-mongering, nothing more.
Your safety risk is ten times bigger driving to your camping spot.
Even the words he uses to describe the tent and the risk factors at play in the forest are suggestive of fear.
No, this is simply a trash upload.
I would never camp
If you're scared.... stay home
Never said I was scared Homie:)
Thanks for making this video. It got me thinking twice before purchasing a tent.
I think you’re absolutely right and I will need to modify my Jeep Wrangler so I can sleep inside my vehicle.
Once again thanks for the advice.
RV camping
Great.
Bro you need to smoke a doob and chillax some 😂 theres a risk in anything you do ! Including your teardrop !
Wow yep tents are unsafe
Yes
you are very discouraging to young adventurers.
🤣😂👩🏽💻 dude really needs to stay out of the woods.
Goofball
Pictures of Bigfoot and aliens..dude you need to stop camping before you run into Harvey the rabbit
It could have been a bigfoot trying to get in your car I played songs 91 over my campsite And annoy my ' with oil and walk off around it and bleed the blood of Jesus for protection😊
I think it might be time for an assisted living setup for you.
You should be safe there, make sure to keep your door locked at all times, senior citizens have been known to be very dangerous.
Above all, stay safe and scared.
??
@@susannaaskins8187 He's just one of the reckless and foolhardy idiots who think that taking proper precautions against known dangers means one is "scared" and belongs in an "assisted living setup."
Are you the woman who gave him the $$ to buy that van🤣

❤️🔥
If you are able to park your car and camp in the lower 48, then you are nowhere 'remote'.
Lol. Nice clickbait strategy.
I actually hike in to wilderness areas. I use a tent.
You know what? Your ears are too attuned to urbanity.
Tweekers in the city? Now there is danger.
Welp, you lost me with this video.
Thank You Mr Gloom and Doom.
Camping under that tree now should be safe...lightning doesn't strike twice
Actually lightening is far more likely to hit the same spot repeatedly.
Feel free to camp under/near it.
Lol lol stop it
WTF? 😂 get some therapy
Where is your Gun????😊
He doesn’t carry
