I`m just wondering, would it be possible that you create a side channel with 0 "fanbase" without announcing that you`ll make it. Upload a video which would get decent amount of clicks on the Think Media channel and see how that ends up? Not that I don`t agree to the content of the video however it seems that being already established is what raises these videos up in the first place? Apologies if I came across rude, not my intention at all!

Hi Sean, What a great presentation - as always. You really hit the nail on the head....don't make a video that your subscribers didn't subscribe for. It all boils down to that. It's always about the viewer. It's not about us. It's about what our viewers/subscribers want from us - what is it that they want us to teach them, etc. We need to always be studying our analytics and understand our viewer and then create videos that they want. Over the many many...well um weeks that I’ve been doing TH-cam I’ve realized the types of videos that blow up (300 views) and don’t (10 views) basically do videos with really big topics but a small niche in it.

I like that you have mentioned the types of content you upload. Our topic is Genealogy but there are DNA tests viewers and then all Genealogy topic viewers including dna.
If we were to create a second channel, how would we split if TH-cam doesn't make it easy to migrate previous videos to the segmented channels?

I've done a bunch of things and I try my best to do trending stuff. Mainly for drawings. My gaming videos I've titled based off others I've seen and making key points larger like specific words.

great video Sean, i clicked for title info and the video was more about my own situation and how i have so much to offer on my channel. i have narrowed it down since we met at vidsummit. it's not action camera, 360, drones and how to make videos with those. still lots of snowboarding though since i live next to keystone.

The starting is always the hardest. Waking up everday and not seeing a change is demotivating at times especially when there are channels that are getting 1K subscribers in a month. But of course you have to keep making videos and keep going. Progress takes time.

I'm starting to begin thinking it's all luck, every video on my recommendations has a stupid title no keywords and a terrible old thumbnail yet they all seem to have millions views.

Great video Sean! Really appreciated your explanation for the splitting of your channel, I was actually talking about that with my brother who has a channel as well. We have talked about potentially combining our channels and using his channel as a sort of homebase, and then creating several different playlists with different types of content. I've leaned against doing that because of yours and many others recommendations to excel in TH-cam with a niche. But we thought could it be worthwhile since neither of us have much time and we could potentially trigger the algorithm with more frequent contact since we could upload multiple videos a week. This definitely helps clarify that for me though that we should stay separate. Really appreciate the way you broke that down and as always I love all of your motivational and informational content!

This past two weeks it has been with PPP and EIDL, but I also just uploaded a video about managing employees working from home. I understand the point of making a 2nd channel, however when you look at iconic and successful people like Peter McKinnon, I feel that a solid '1 strategy' channel will not be the future of TH-cam, people do want personality as you say, and regardless if Peter McKinnon goes to Jetski, I'll watch it too.

Hana M if it’s to follow you personally go with your name. Or a brand similar to your name and adapt over the years when you rebrand. Don’t rebrand more than twice in a lifetime.

In this video you talked about branching some of your content off into a separate channel. I'm considering doing the same thing. I have made tutorials for the PC version of PowerDirector for years. A little over a year ago I started making tutorials for the mobile version of the program. I considering starting a channel for the mobile version. I was wondering if I should add all of the mobile videos from my main channel to the new channel and then delete them from the old channel or should I just start with brand new videos on the new channel? I know that I will lose views and the algorithm will have to "restart" on the videos when I add them to the new channel, but I would like all the mobile videos to be on the new channel. Your thoughts? What did you do?

@@teddypgray I just saw some of your content. Its fine, but to be successful on TH-cam, channels need to have consistent uploads. For instance, your have videos that were uploaded 2 years ago. Then you take a break and upload one every few months.
Keep at it teddy! Don't give up. Maybe shorten your video lengths to 5 minutes? As a viewer, I get deterred away from clicking on videos that are 45 minutes.
Maybe sit down and answer some of think media's questions: why do you want to be successful on youtube? What niche or audience does your channel want to target? What's the purpose of your channel?

Sean, I have been watching you religiously once I decided to start a channel and I have watched hundreds of your videos and they are all great. I am however having trouble really figuring out what is the message here. The title is exactly what I was looking for, but the content seem less connected to it than your other excellent videos. I have watched it 5 times now still trying to tie it all together. Can you help me out here?

1. You should still use keywords in titles (SEO)
2. They should be written for humans and not machines
3. Value based titles are powerful
4. But non-searched based titles are also powerful because of suggested videos (I explain an example)
5. TOPIC can matter more than your TITLE (4:50)

This video resonated because the channel focus has been wildlife, weather and habitats from your backyard to the theme parks. After I posted that video, I started Growing Food is Easy Challenge to keep my core audience and that is going well.

I liked your presentation a lot more in this video compared to many others I've watched. While I've always found the value to be there, it often seemed like you were trying too hard to me- like it wasn't genuine. As you were speaking in the presentation it came across much moreso as an invested authority on the topic than a cartoon character stating valuable information. This one hit me. With the does your subscribers sign up for every video you upload. I'm a videographer and a music producer and a entrepreneur so that's like 3 audiences. It didnt make sense to me to start 3 channels so I've done them all on 1. I've built 20k subscribers BUT my average views suck due to the diverse content. Idk what to do now.

I added a "click here text" pointing an arrow to subscribe button watermark inside the video which lasts for 7 seconds. Then I added end of the video words, "click in the description box to buy the book". Google ads stopped running mailing me it's click bait. Are these click baits. Can you please explain about my issue?
