Abandoned Ghost town of Centralia AKA Silent Hill

todays journey mobile instinct and myself head to Centralia where there's an active mine fire burning beneath the town and continues to burn for decades. it all started accidentally when the local fire department burned the trash at the local dump and it manage to burn down low enough making its way underground catching the coal veins on fire.

Nice video! I've done a couple of TH-cam videos here too. I remember this town 30 yrs ago when I first started working nearby. Year by year more disappeared. That dewatering facility is owned by Keystone Anthracite which is currently strip mining. Looks like the place has electricity yet(nothing is gutted out)

Great video! I remember reading that another reason they wanted to shut down the "COVID parties" taking place there was because some of the people were trying to break into some of the houses that are still there thinking they were abandoned.

Thanks!!! I believe it, I know a lot of people think the church is also abandoned and tried getting inside there too. Which is why I mentioned they still have services there.

This is very close to where I live. It is so depressing with so much graffiti. I thought I heard that they are closing off the area to tourists

As far as I know it's just graffiti highway you're not allowed to be there. But it is technically still a town so you can drive around the town and check out other areas or chance it like we did and see the mounds of dirt on the old graffiti highway
