    Added my stripes this morning. Silver stripes with light grey PORSCHE on same arctic silver as Mr. Bath.. Very subtle and amazing how it disappears and reappears in different light. Not too hard to install just have to be in a clean environment and keep everything clean and lubed with soapy water. Bought from Carrera decals (new name now so look it up or ask ) great value and perfect product.

      Nice one. I just saw your image on Rennlist. Looks really good 👍👏

    I think the stripe in combination with your wheel colour makes your car really unique, understated and spot on

    Stripes really improve the look of the relatively plain 997 911. I ended up with full Martini livery stripes on my 07 C4S. It's my favorite change to the car so far but now i'm getting ready to also change to the Gundo style exhaust.

    Getting a Porsche stripe for my 997.1 C2S Cab in a few weeks. New stone guards as well. Next IPD plenium and GT Throttle body.
    Had scuff repainted on rear quarter panel so ceramic pro being applied as we speak. Not a mark on the car now.
    I too want a GT3 but .........$$$$$

    I don't think I could pull off stripes myself, but the look great on your 997.

      Thats exactly what i thought.

      Yeah, yours is perfect for the self-conscious :) With yours its wonderfully subtle, it blends into the sills and wheels and really accentuates and draws your eyes to the lower lines of the car.

    Aha!! Awesome video Michael!! :-) I can't wait to show everyone what my stripes look like. They're being installed this week. I'm confident my door decals are going to look awesome but I'm still not so sure about the top stripe that's going from back to front... I'm quite nervous... I'll do it anyway and take it off if it doesn't work. Your look dope, BTW, so sooooooo good. I'm glad you didn't rip them off!

      Michael Bath oh, haha. I dread to think... 🤔 After this wave... the wing, the decals, the front bumper... I might have to hit pause for a little bit so I can just enjoy the car. Summer will come and go and the snow will be back.

      Michael Bath having said that, I need to do my brake pads and rotors... I’m most likely going to put the stock PCM back and try out the Denison BT500 Bluetooth / usb device. I’d also like to get 19in OEM rims. A lot of video making potential! Haha.

    Decided to stripe the 997, Michael! If feels authentic even if its not a 911r. Think I have ocme up with colors that work on black 997 and will post on Instagram when the little project is comlete

    I think since your car is silver the stripe goes very well. I have a black car so I am on the fence but I personally like the hood stripe, I have the Aero kit on my car so not sure which direction to go with.

      On a black 911 i like the idea of a mid grey stripe and weiss gold type. Even a 1 colour grey stripe and text would look good.

    Just added a “Porsche” stripe from Sun Coast. Black on grey. Love it! Makes my 997.1 S Cab. Look a bit more stand out. I do like your stripe also. Still thinking about the exhaust and GT Plenum and throttle body.

    • @MichaelBath
      @MichaelBath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stripe does add to the 911. The great thing about the 911 is that it looks good with or without a stripe. Really liking mine now.

    Beautiful car Michael, after seeing the decal, I love it, I also have an arctic silver and wanted to put the same decal like yours. Do you have a link to where you bought it from? Many thanks

    • @MichaelBath
      @MichaelBath  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 👍. The decal is from Carreradecals / Renndecals. It looks like he has had to remove the stripes again from his website (renndecals.com) i would contact Chris through facebook facebook.com/carreradecalscom-917239585058825/
      Mine is the Two tone 4" stripe pair (Grey stripe, black letters) and semi gloss like the factory decals. Hope this helps!

    Michael, I like your stripes. You mentioned that Renndecals had ony one grey when you placed your order. The have light/medium/dark grey now.
    Which one is yours? 3" or 4" tall are they?

    • @MichaelBath
      @MichaelBath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s 4inch 2 tone. I believe the grey is mid but was never really confirmed when I purchased. I have bought another stripe (black / mid grey) so will let you know if it’s the same as the original one I just removed. Cheers

    Whether or not it is an OEM sourced stripe isn't as important to me as maintaining authenticity, i.e not putting GT3RS stripes on a 997..

  • @arainla

    The stripes you did are great looking.

  • @Eatongee

    Each to his own on this one. I like the stripe under the door. But my 997 is guards red with red calipers, I am not sure what color I would do. I was thinking silver like the wheels. A stripe over the hood and roof? I think it definitely adds a racing look to the car. I don't think it makes you look like a wannabe 911R owner. It's a classic timeless look. I don't think it's for me right now......but you got me thinking. A pair of white stripes up the hood may look pretty cool. ;)

    • @MichaelBath
      @MichaelBath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true! Try it out ... on a guards red 997 i would probably consider white stripes or even a light grey side stripe would be my choice.

    Stripes if you like them, and can't wait to see Auto Amatures upgrades.. Great Vlog

    I follow you and Auto Amateur with great interest due to your VLOGs /ownership of the 997.I have a black 997.1 2cs and am afraid I have to differ with you both on the subject of stripes.No Stripes for the following reasons:
    1, The Porsche 911 is known the world over primarily due to its signature shape, no need to rub it in.A bridge too far for those that can't enjoy porsche 911 ownership.
    2, Its a low cost add on, looks low cost and as such cheapens the car.
    3, It is not authentic, sets an ownership mindset for the buyer when you choose to sell it on.
    4, "Go faster" stripes do not make the car go faster,nor the driver more skilled.
    Brings to mind the "saying " used by the 82nd airborne.."those that talk don't jump..those that jump don't talk"

    Definitely not to stripe, I don't like stripes, stickers or anything on the car I like it as it is.
    Looking forward to hear from your sttutgart journey.

  • @porsche911luv9
    @porsche911luv9 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    not to stripe. takes away from the car's classic looks and nice curves. the 997 has a beautiful design, don't try to take away from it by adding decals that don't belong.

    • @MichaelBath
      @MichaelBath  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of Porsche owners will disagree. In saying that i have been contemplating removing my stripe for a bit.

  • @owenjarvis9368
    @owenjarvis9368 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Adding a stripe reminds me of the bogan Holden drivers who take off the GMH lion and replace it with a Chev bow tie. I prefer completely original, the Porsche 911 style speaks for itself. BTW Michael please learn to pronounce Porsche correctly.

    • @K1dPhresh1
      @K1dPhresh1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Owen Jarvis that’s funny because here in the US I see guys put Holden badging on their Chevy. Just goes to show people want what they can’t have.

    • @MichaelBath
      @MichaelBath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many 911 owners would not agree. Stripes are actually part of the brands heritage. Pronouncing Porsche ... we will leave that for another day.
