Eleven ships of the Royal Navy have borne the name HMS Unicorn, after the mythological creature, the unicorn: HMS Unicorn (1544) was a 36-gun ship captured from Scotland in 1544 and sold in 1555. HMS Unicorn (1634) was a 56-gun ship launched in 1634 and sold in 1687. So the one in ww2 was not the first.
In case anyone is wondering Z23 is not a starter in the Japanese version (she is switched with Ayanami in EN), that's why she is not a main character in the anime.
She is a starter in CN. They just switched her with Ayanami in the JP version, presumably so that a Japanese ship would be available in the starters for Japanese players.

You know, there's another way to have this show more visualized in interest. If you think about it, some were destroyed in battle, sunk as targets, or scuttled at the hands of their own crews. Many were even scrapped. Others weren't completed, many were canceled at the last minute before their keels could even be laid down. Some were laid up, and many were preserved as museums for their historical significances and war records. But now, they have a newer lease of life. Each ship is created accurately, based on their historical blueprints, as seen in Episodes 1, 5 and 7. They're given human personalities while female in gender, then sent into combat.
In other animes you will only see the heroes side, but in AL after watching episode 4 you start to see that Sakura Empire is not the villian; they have a life like every other hero in the story. What about the amazing character voice acting and writing? How can every character can be so expresive while having diffrent personalities? I never remember seeing this much loveable characters.
i think this is partly how the game is set up. You got 4 major factions with a almost half a dozen sub factions. All fight against one major enemy the siren. Cause all faction have their own goals they don't always work well with each other and may at time battle each other which weirdly enough seem to recreate some ww2 battles. Weird how that happens. Cause in the game you can create units from any of the factions they are not really enemies with each other just that they have different ways of viewing how the war should go.
I have watched the first episode three times now and am still not tired of it. (Will probably go for a fourth.) They need to keep the action going so it will not end up like Kantai Collection.
I wish Azur Lane was as elaborate as Fate. More anime with alternate endings, separate comedy series. Even if it had 10000 episodes I would love to watch it. 12 episodes and a game is not enough as the bond between several characters is strong. More is needed...
