So beautiful and so rare. The color is Cadet Blue Metallic, according to the brochure. The brochure also shows a convertible with those spinner hubcaps and says "wheel cover applique" is an option. So I would leave those covers on there. To me the taillights look like a vertical version of the 1960-61 Comet. Thanks, Lou, for showing us this super rare car.

And to think I tried to talk him out of it. I was at the auction on Friday and I looked over the car and sent many pictures. Talking to Mr. Troost on Friday night I told him I didn't think the car was up to his standards(I found out 2 other people told him the same thing). As I talked to him I started to see the Edsel in a different light. He wasn't looking for perfection, he wanted a reasonably priced oddest of the odd ball cars. All the slight imperfections, most of which I made up, didn't matter. As long as he could buy it in his price range it was his. A case of he didn't know he needed it 'til he saw it. The 1st show he took it to it was magnet. We were at a show on Father's day. I brought his stunning '55 Old 98, he had the Edsel. As the day went on he asked which car was getting more attention I replied"You have to ask?". It's since been buffed( the alternative to painting) and that cadet blue really shines now. Also a little bit of detailing has been done under the hood. I think it's the ugliest of the 3 Edsels, as you can guess he strongly disagrees.

A nice looking and tastefully designed car without the usual 2 foot torpedoes sticking out front and back or high fins reaching up to the stratosphere. A handsome car without the period-overload of chrome too. The automotive art was starting to mature and it’s appreciated.
Sadly, the Edsel ads had too much hype, they looked like a Ford or Mercury, and really were not given their own real identity in the Ford Motor Company lineup. Beautiful color! Liked the styling because it was quite unique. Thank you Lou!
Well Lou, you featured another fantastic car. It reminds me of a Continental a bit. I did have the opportunity to buy a 59 Edsel that was on the corner of my block where I grew up. The man wanted $50.00 for it. I was 15 and my parents said I didn't need a car😕
292 that I owned in my 1957 Ford Fairlane was a great powerful motor but had persistent oiling problems. So bad that most owners installed or had installed, overhead oiler kits on their 292s.
I've seen maybe one or two of these years ago. Looks basically like the same body as the full size Fords that year except different grill and tail lights.

The '60 Edsel was way better looking than the Ford. It looks like it may be a Pontiac to me. Had they put a little more effort into promotion, this car might have been a winner! It's a shame that they put the 2-speed Ford-O-Matic. Every '60 Ford Galaxy that I've seen had the 3-speed cruise-O-Matic, even with the 292 V8. About the only other '60 Ford that had the Ford-O-Matic was the Falcon.
Edsel's own Starliner. Thanks to its Ford roots (& severe cost cutting) This little beauty is probably the best lookin' Edsel ever. Thanks Lou, for another gem from the FoMoCo stable...👍🏁
Yes, front looks like it could be a Pontiac, side looks sort of Buick or Olds, and rear Ford, Merc, Olds.? Never have seen a 1960 Edsel, actually fairly decent looking compared to 58, 59. You must be under airport flight path, yikes!

They really toned down the front end in 60. I'm not a fan of the rear tail lights. From the front moving to the back there are some cues taken from the Ford Starliner which was a very beautiful car. This car not so much.

A nice looking and tastefully designed car without the usual 2 foot torpedoes sticking out front and back or high fins reaching up to the stratosphere. A handsome car without the period-overload of chrome too. The automotive art was starting to mature and it’s appreciated.
Hi Todd P, Happy to read "The automotive art was starting to mature and it’s appreciated." :-) Nice, Lou
This is much cooler and nicer than the Rivian vehicles that have headlights that look like the taillights on this car 🤪
NICE!
Sadly, the Edsel ads had too much hype, they looked like a Ford or Mercury, and really were not given their own real identity in the Ford Motor Company lineup. Beautiful color! Liked the styling because it was quite unique.
Thank you Lou!
Thanks for sharing. You're welcome Steven!
Well Lou, you featured another fantastic car. It reminds me of a Continental a bit. I did have the opportunity to buy a 59 Edsel that was on the corner of my block where I grew up. The man wanted $50.00 for it. I was 15 and my parents said I didn't need a car😕
Hi Debbie, Happy to read "you featured another fantastic car." :-) So close to that 59 Edsel. Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Your parents are such fools😀.(please don't take that the wrong way. Strictly tongue in cheek. They no more knew than anybody else.)
@@richardrice8076 they also wouldn't let me get a 67 mustang for $50
@@debbiedunn4477 what is wrong with them!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously they're not car people. BTW thank you for being a good sport.
292 that I owned in my 1957 Ford Fairlane was a great powerful motor but had persistent oiling problems. So bad that most owners installed or had installed, overhead oiler kits on their 292s.
Hi Big Jer, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I've seen maybe one or two of these years ago. Looks basically like the same body as the full size Fords that year except different grill and tail lights.

A very nice accurate car
Happy to read this one is "A very nice accurate car" :-)
Tell the truth, I didn’t know Edsel produced cars in 1960
Hi Fred, well there were not many so that's easy to understand you might not recall the 1960. Good news! Here is one more for you to enjoy, Lou th-cam.com/video/ALfGMcr9dCc/w-d-xo.html
You are to be commended for giving a home to this gem and American classic. Thank you for sharing
Frank ALWAYS has the good s***!
I agree.
thanks for the comment. Only buy things that i can take to a show and not see another one. Am also a color buyer. Prefer pastels. No white , red , grey ,silver or black. Just bought a new Equinox in cacti green with a white top.
1st like on this one !!!
WINNER!
Hi Automated Electronics, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
I thought so...that roofline looks like a Ford Starliner.
Very nice car, though. It looks and feels like a step up from a regular Ford.
Hi Mark, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Lou
Edsel's own Starliner.
Thanks to its Ford roots (& severe cost cutting) This little beauty is probably the best lookin' Edsel ever.
Thanks Lou, for another gem from the FoMoCo stable...👍🏁
Hi Neal, Happy to share this "gem' with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Did they hire a former Oldsmobile designer for this blue beauty? 🤔
Hi Terry, I'm not aware of that. Maybe a Viewer who has knowledge can share, Lou
One other variant of this bidy was the Meteor built in Canada
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Eligant....
:-)
2 speed Fordomatic NOT Powerglide.
Hmmm, not sure.
I thought I was the only one who got a puckery mouth when hearing it...
@@loucostabile ??? Powerglide is Chevrolet... ...not sure? of what?
It was too bad Ford had already internally “s-canned” the Edsel prior to the 1960 coming to showrooms. These were a real competitor to the Pontiac!
Hi Sean, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Yes, front looks like it could be a Pontiac, side looks sort of Buick or Olds, and rear Ford, Merc, Olds.? Never have seen a 1960 Edsel, actually fairly decent looking compared to 58, 59. You must be under airport flight path, yikes!
O'hare.

They really toned down the front end in 60. I'm not a fan of the rear tail lights. From the front moving to the back there are some cues taken from the Ford Starliner which was a very beautiful car. This car not so much.
Hi Bill, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
I would love a quirky car, but we're living in the hyperinflationary Obiden economy.

not true! I own a 48 Studebaker Champion convertible and three thunderbird convertibles,
The Edsel failed for at least 3 reasons:
1. They were cheaply made
2. They were overpriced
3. They were ugly !
Even the engine is ugly !!!
