FINALLY! Atherton's New Downhill Bike Fully Revealed

- After weeks of teasing us with their new bike, Gee Atherton finally gives us the legit, full reveal of the Atherton Bikes downhill prototype. The reveal of the DW6 configuration wasn't a huge surprise, as that's what Robot Bike Co. used in the past and it's what we were able to sneak out of accidentally leaked photos and videos, but now we get to see the bike squish in all its glory, as Gee discusses how the bike is built with 3D printing, titanium lugs and carbon tubes. The bike gets 200mm of travel and is currently the third prototype, so they called it the P3. Right now it has a 63-degree head angle with "really long" reach. There's an adjustable headset for +/- 6mm movement. FOX suspension, Continental tires, Trickstuff's Direttissima Brakes and SRAM drivetrain with FSA cranks and Stan's wheels round out the build. We have a Vital RAW on the way with Gee ripping the prototype bike, and he looks good on it, as evidenced by the action clips here.

She isn't unbeatable, give Thanee some kudos, she's smashing it more every year and is currently the only real thread for rachy

Not just a great looking/ promising bike, but incredibly interesting interview too - so much insight into his own preferences/ riding style.
I love it's simplistic tube design it looks like a trail bike with 200mm of travel cutting edge technology and I bet it will be reasonably priced awesome interview bravo Atherton's
I think it looks absolutely amazing. I don't really like weird shaped complex tubing with changing profiles. This looks like something they made out of simple pieces of pipe with absolutely amazing workmanship. Granted, I like the look of welds more than those 2-3 way connecting pieces they used here but can't weld carbon so that's that. Overall this is a fantastic looking bike and the only thing I'd change is the raw metal color of the upper suspension linkage. I'd try to match the fork stanchions or the frame color. Other than that I really dig the colors and shapes. Kudos to the engineers who made such a simple looking linkage setup work up to today's standards.

I bet it'll be a total fucking machine, looks awesome, but cheap it won't be.
@@10acebikesjodybennettii19 That would be nice, but I've heard closer to 6K for the frame. Hopefully it'll be somewhere in between as I may be in the market for a new DH bike next year.
If there´s any guy and girl in the world i´d believe when he/she says they absolutely wanted the bike to be competitive, it is Gee and Rachel. No doubt that bike will be dialed to perfection when it hits the market. i don´t see them competing on anything that isn´t up there with the best.
This new prototype also looks way cleaner with the black lugs. Really looking forward to seeing what they´ll end up with for production and how this whole Atherton bikes thing plays out!
Finally bikes are going back to looking like they used too. Like a bike.

Awesome bike. Really cool to hear how stoked Gee is about it. Love to see the Sunday resurrected. I'd don't ride downhill but I'd definitely be interested in a trail bike with a similar design.

So cool to see these guys realizing their dream. It'll be interesting to see the FINAL version of this bike. Looks pretty "Old School" but that's cool, reminds me of the later Iron Horse DH bikes.
I had a bike like that, loved it. It was green. Monster green. It was 2007. It was the incredible, iconic Iron Horse Sunday, and it was awesome.

Now that's a bike👍 First thing I noticed was the length, I'm 6'1" and like a nice lengthy, roomy bike. 2.4 on the tire width 🤔 that's what I currently run and love it, seems everyone loves running the wider tires, maybe it's just a "everyone's doing it" factor 😉 Awesome bike👍

Looks great for muddy riding. The shock and pivots aren't in locations that will get stacked with mud. Also, the lower linkage doesn't form a mud shelf like many other designs do.
it doesn't look like a hardcore downhill bike, it looks really versatile and i love it!

XC bike frame design please.. everything on that full suspension bike frame is straightforward.. looks to me as you'd be both be dominating in the 2019 season of the UCI Downhill World Cup. More Power to yous, and Congratulations on coming up with your own bike and team. Cheers!
"[This bike] makes you feel quite brave". I'd say the Athertons were fairly big on that front already! Can't wait to see how this translates on the DH circuit this year.
excellent presentation I realized the professionalism and the experience of being a mountain bike racer. You can see many of them as he mentions with great detail and meticulousness the selection of the feet used to create this bicycle model that, if I may say, has a style that makes me fall in love At first glance and what I like most or what I am very, very picky in the subject of the direction and displacement not only when it declines but in the most important when entering and leaving each curve that is taken in the routes that friend is a 1000pts on my scale of excellence of a mountain bike

Looks like it performs really great and fast but the doesnt look really good aesthetically.
We usually buy bikes that known to ride really well but also looks great and eye catching.
So does the bike they race have to be the production version? I'm not clear on the UCI rules.

The question that should've been asked, will we be able to choose wheel size and hub spacing? Keep the #26forlife crew happy, the racers chasing 29er speed happy and the people with nice 27.5 parts happy too. Could make for a killer sales concept.
No reason it wouldn't be possible. The cost of each bike will be very high though at first till the technology to make them gets cheaper.

Exactly thought the same
That was the Pivot Phoenix like almost a decade ago which had the exact same suspension setup as the ironhorse hence the name Phoenix. This bike has completely different linkage. You'll notice there are two bottom linkages on this bike and it also has pivots near the axle on the chain stays where as the Iron horse and Pivot have a solid rear triangle attached by an upper and lower linkage system.
And that is a good thing!
Yeah, this bike looks allot like the Sunday. Simple solid triangles, no bullshit. Perfect geometry, though Sam's bike had a 62 degree head angle. This link looks like a modernised version of the DW.
