This was a brilliant concert. It is criminal that the footage was lost, this should have come out on DVD. I watched the VHS a lot when I had it, but no longer have it or a VCR. I know it's available on TH-cam but it's not the same as owning it and having a clear picture.
I have grown to be so fascinated with Marianne Faithfull`s music. She´s really letting us into her soul with her music and this song hits me the hardest. I have never been addicted to drugs or alcohol. However I have had my own struggles in life because I have mental disorders, but I have known how to use them positively when it comes to how I look at life and also with my education that I´m the middle of in my life today I´m so grateful for that. I guess that when you have been at the bottom at some point during your life you can go two ways. The one way that you can go is to make a decision that you want to make your life better by realizing that you have to have a problem and go and get help. Or you can be even more self-destructive to yourself and let yourself get into an even darker place. I´m so happy that when I was at my bottom with my mental disorders that I turned to my family and in that way got the help that I needed to change my life slowly and that I got better after a while. I wouldn't change anything about how my life was in the past, because that made me the man that I am now. I hope that most of you are in a good place and if you are not, then don´t worry. Life will also change for you and I wish you all the best. ❤❤❤
"With my eyes on the TV" I saw Marianne years ago in New York. When she sang this line, I jumped out of my seat. It was one of many high points in a brilliant performance, by possibly the most charming woman I have ever seen. Her smile literally lit up the concert hall.
Whiskey soaked raw voice, she can sing the blues with the best of them. I've always been fascinated by MF... have you heard her sing "The House of the Rising Sun"..she can sing Dylan better than anyone. I've got her collection of 80's albums. I think Child's Adventure is my favourite. Thanks for posting this. This is heartfelt.
Song reminds me of times with someone special and of walking together in the city in the wee hours arm in arm of the morning still tipsy from the night before
A dark night of the mind in the brightest place on Earth. The sense of presence is chilling. There's something both ruined and dreamy in the lyrics. These are the words we speak to ourselves when we live inside our heads. What we say when there's no one left to hear.
actually happy here.......just feeling the strength of one of the most powerful songs ever.......... by one of my most favorite female singersplaying this so loud!!!.......
Merci beaucoup pour cette perle qui me tournait dans la tête ce matin (réminiscence), et que j'a retrouvée ici et de grande qualité, vraiment merci du fond du coeur.
Thank you so much .. my best friend who passed away used to sing this song and I love this video .. thank you .. thank you so much please don't take this down .. lots of love for doing this...
This is from the brilliant Blazing Away concert CD and vhs released in 1990 - it's really time Island Records dug out the videotape, smartened it up with a little restoration, and released it on DVD.
she opened with this the first time i saw her in london circa2008,,,,i remember this song in the early 80s,,my sister loved it too,,,,,music eh ,,talks to us all,,,,and love,,,love em all,,,,man
This is a better version than the album. Her friend Barry Reynolds wrote the song, and released on his album in 1982. Faithful would record it a year later.
Jesus Christ could take me there I'd fall dawn on my knees Have no questions to his answers Take a walk around Times Square With a pistol in my suitcase And my eyes on the TV

This VHS is a prized possession. Love the trumpeter! The whole band is the best. Like one organism.
I have heard that there are some versions of this song without the trumpet. They are not versions of this song.
This is an amazing performance!
This song gets to me because it reminds me of when I was going through withdrawal. It captures the raw emotion of it perfectly.

Insanely good song. It's all up front, hits you in the chest like a bullet. The truth that's never told.

"starin out the window thinkin' about danger"
Beautiful song! Great performance! Eerie similarities with the recent bomb scare on Times Square.
laughing at the wrong time
there is a lot of truth in her songs , but they are very dark
I guess that’s why I’m listening. Amazing
Lew Soloff- trumpet; Fernando Saunders- bass.
For Gods' sake, is there a DVD of this gig ??????????

Have no questions to his answers
Take a walk around Times Square
With a pistol in my suitcase
And my eyes on the TV
NOT in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. But Madonna & Donna Summers are? Whatever....
après la disparition de Joe Cocker, une autre voix travaillée à la coke et au whisky.. Superbe, partagez ce "walk on time square" avec moi.
