- "We Shall Remain" is the second installment of the "ABMHS Song Project" from "Allison Bernard Memorial High School" in Eskasoni, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada.
"We Shall Remain" was written in tribute and honour of the elders and ancestors of all First Nations. The song echoes the voices of a strong and resilient people through times of innocence and harmony with the earth, through centuries of struggle, oppression and hardship and onwards into a time of rebirth and reconciliation through education and the empowerment of youth.
All sales of "We Shall Remain" go 100% to the benefit of arts programs at "Allison Bernard Memorial High School".

I am a native from the US and I was in a bad place. Then I came across this song. I thank you for your prayers which I find also in my own heart; you have spoken the words I could not find.
All My Relations🦅🌲
Wela'lin
To all my relatives from all the nations across this land, remember who you are, be proud of your name. I love you all and like the song says, we shall remain. Hagoone...
🤗❤🕊🪶🙏🏼
omg... Kalolin. You bring tear's to my eye's. Your song's bring me so much hope for our people. My grandmother Sarah Denny thought me so much about our culture, medicine's, song's and dance. I loved everything about our culture and wish so much that I didn't turn to drugs and alcohol to run away from my pain i had inside. I was so lost in a dark place. I never thought in a million year's that I would make it this far. You inspire me to go back to what made me happier as a young teenager who loved playing guitar and writing my own music. I really want to carry on my grandmother's tradition and sing the song's she sang and sing my own music again too. I was really touched today. I can't stop crying. I'm bringing out the guitar today and gonna start doing what I was born to do. I hope I make my grandmother proud. Thank you so much Kalolin for sharing your beautiful music.
Good for you. Being clean and sober is a Revolutionary Act of Defiance! Freedom!
Creator made sure this came across your path to you bring that back out of you
This speaks all the way down to the Southwest US. To the New Mexico Natives.

Kalolin, My husband and I heard you perform in Ottawa last year although Nova Scotia is our home too. This song breaks and fills my heart at the same time. I want to share it with school children to help them understand. There are a few lyrics I am not sure about. Could you help?
When I'm alone, I close my eyes
And dream about a world gone by
Times are still from sea to sea
But to me red earth and blue sky
Eagles soar from mountain high
On guard for whales and men
.... buffalo
Sons and daughters hand in hand
In peaceful harmony
One with the land
Chorus:
I hear your voice in the crash of the waves
In the call of the wild, in the wind and the rain
I see your face in the clouds in the sky
In the stars in the night, In every sunrise
I feel your spirit in the children at play
In the sick and old, the young, and I'm told
It wasn't taken away...
We shall remain.
Before my eyes one April day
A new way from across the sea
Our world no more, a world unknown
A world no longer mine
Black snakes crisscross this land
Destroying prairies wide and forests green
My arms are open wide
Yet my heart bleeds in this new reality. CHORUS
Seasons change and years go by
What's to be , What remains?
Every night I close my eyes
And dream of you,
In hearts and minds across this land
The truth remains, with your memory
..........
Our home and native land
When I'm alone, I close my eyes
And dream about a world gone by
Times are still from sea to sea
But to me red earth and blue sky
Eagles soar from mountains high
On guard for whales and men
deer and buffalo
Sons and daughters hand in hand
In peaceful harmony
One with the land
Chorus:
I hear your voice in the crash of the waves
In the call of the wild, in the wind and the rain
I see your face in the clouds in the sky
In the stars in the night, In every sunrise
I feel your spirit in the children at play
In the sick and old, the young, and I'm told
It wasn't taken away...
We shall remain.
Before my eyes one April day
A new way from across the sea
Our world no more, a world unknown
A world no longer mine
Black snakes crisscross this land
Destroying prairies wide and forests green
My arms are open wide
Yet my heart bleeds in this new reality.
CHORUS
Seasons change and years go by
What's to be , What remains?
Every night I close my eyes
And dream of you,
In hearts and minds across this land
The truth remains, with your memory

My grandparents taught me well along with all my elders. May Great Spirit Blessed all my brothers and sisters of the First Nation. ❤️ Littlehawk my Native American Name
So beautiful that I felt the pain and cry
Gentle Warrior was beautiful, but I'm not even halfway through this one and I'm almost crying. It reminds me of so much poetry I've written and all my constantly building pain and anger. It's beautiful, your voice is beautiful. It's important.

The Native American have suffered such oppression since my forefathers came to this land. I don't understand the reasoning but I do know the carnage that fear and ignorance brings to the world. Powerful words, amazing expression of love. I have been feeling without words to speak on how I feel. The internal cry to the Great Spirit, Greator, TMH. From one of the sons of the Arawak tribe (ruach; ruach is "breath," or "wind," or "spirit.") Who are generally viewed to be extinct. Thank you.
