    • @Thor.Jorgensen
      @Thor.Jorgensen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think humanity's respect for nature is only skin deep.
      Humanity doesn't care enough to want to do what it takes to save, or rather, not kill all the animal and plant species that David Attenborough has shown us or all of them that he hasn't been able to cover.
      And it will be our own downfall. Today, what we consider essential medicine was discovered thanks to plants and animals, particularly penicillins. And had these plants or animals gone extinct, then we would never have discovered this medicine. And every time a species goes extinct, we lose endless possibilities.

      So very very true - I was aghast when I saw it too - really heart braking and a deep profound sense of sadness fills you up - feeling like its all too late - we've irreversably destroyed our beautiful planet - our home.
      Is there anything we can do at this late hour?

    • @Ryodraco
      @Ryodraco 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@catkin3 like was said in the video, joining forests together via forest corridors is a viable solution in some cases, enabling local people to keep the farms they need to survive while wildlife can maintain itself in-between. The world is not being irreversibly destroyed, we're just making life harder for ourselves and various other life on the planet with our activities. We would die out long before the world itself was destroyed.

    So very beautiful. Nature and animals cause a balance that only man destroys. I wish I could witness something so beautiful as this.

    • @AirLancer
      @AirLancer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Literal survivorship bias. "Nature" is in balance only because the organisms that can maintain such a balance survived. If an organism exists out of balance with its environment, then it dies out. Take for example a large predator on a small island, it eats so much of the available prey that soon there's nothing left for it to eat, and so it starves to death. Meanwhile a smaller, less voracious creature would've been a better for that ecological niche and could've established itself.
      The complex relationships in natural environments don't exist for their own sake, they exist because that's what allowed these organisms to continue living in the first place. However, by referring to the "balance" of nature you ignore the many, many, many times things have naturally gone out of balance due to the introduction of a new species, climate change, natural disasters, or any number of other factors.

    "There's an interdependence between flowers and bees. Where there are no flowers there are no bees, and where there are no bees, there are no flowers. They are really one organism. And so in the same way, everything in nature depends on everything else." - Alan Watts
    One might say the same of the bat and the flower. They are one organism.

    Uau que mágico momento para Sir David e para nós ...a flor efémera parecem sinos ou campainhas e na sua quimera ... uma cooperação com o morcego!! Esta troca é fundamental ...elos estão a ser quebrados para que continuem a viver juntos!!

    Was he superimposed on that video, or was he really standing there? That flower opened very quickly. If he was actually there, then that little bat is absolutely fearless. Dear little thing, it needs to know that humans aren't always kind to bats.

    • @Regfife
      @Regfife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty sure the footage of the opening was timelapsed, then after it opened they had him get into position off-camera for the cue. As for the bat, the timing was pretty good, so it was either really good luck that it flew in when it did, or it was trained.

      The first shot where David walks up to the flower ("This plant...") is definitely a composite shot. You can look to the far flowers on the right and see shadows moving on them (presumably insects) at very fast speeds. However, as others have said, the shots of him and the bat are not composited; it was just good timing.
