The sign of a Great Operator, when the Men on the ground pay absolutely no attention to a Giant Bucket 2 feet from them, because they have such confidence in their Operator !!! Hats off to ya Chris !! They got a Hella Man behind the controls.... Have a Great Day Bro.......
I was thinking the same thing. Not only do they have complete trust in Chris, but it also shows that they all know what to do and when - like a well oiled machine - to keep the job moving instead of having one guy stand there and give instructions while everyone else stops and waits for that one (or other) guy to finish his job before the next one can do his.
Doesn't matter how much i trust someone in a machine if I am standing close I have a hard hat on accidents happen. I have seen very good operator accidentally knock someone and split their head right open because of no hard hat.
@@snowblowerman5115 . I agree with you 100% hard hats, hearing & eye protection .... I've been running open R.O.P.S. dozers for many years and I always wear my logging helmet with the hearing protection and face shield screen down.... last year.... I had a good size stone fly up off the track while reversing in high gear & would have lost my right eye had it not been for the face protection
Hey Chris. Pat your self on the back. For having a good knowledgeable channel and keeping it family friendly. Its pretty cool to see the kids look up to you. Reading one of there comments on doing a school project about you. Cause thats what he wants to do when he grows up. Dont get much better then that. Your the man !
A farmer in central california back in the 80's built or had built a "dam" across a spring fed tiny creek in between some rolling hills on his property. After it was all done he seeded it with pasture mix seed as his cattle would graze it. His high school senior daughter and her friends decided they would buy a whole bunch of california wildflower mix and spread it out. The "pond" filled to the overflow very seldom so the whole dam became quite a show every year. I have thought of that everytime I watch your pond dam vids. As usual this one is a work of art... just no flowers. Thanks Chris.
Shucky darn, I've been so engrossed in watching and enjoying, that I forgot to give you a Thumbs Up for ALL of the videos I've seen so far! Wonderful entertainment!!!
You should do a series of how to operate equipment for beginners that want to do what you do, I would personally watch every video of the series even just to learn extra about every machine @letsdig18
With that machine belonging to your uncle you take pride in keeping it and the others looking good.If more operators would take of there companies machines like you do it would save a lot of money for the company’s.I have always tried to take care of the equipment that I have run and it drives me crazy when others don’t
I'd like to say you do very well at letting your guys work. I know Tim was doing perfect but you didn't blow a gasket and take the dozer away immediately. I've always enjoyed watching a pro operator at work.
Well done dude. Not kissing ass but I do so like watching and sharing your videos. I read in 1 comment where someone is doing a school project about your work cause that's their chosen vocation. 12:21 Your fellow workers sure trust you a lot. They have their backs to you and you a swinging that bucket around and they don't have a care in the world. Which says a lot about your skill, that they are not worried about anything.
Jim, I often think they can read each other's minds from the way it all gels together. You See Chris head down the back of the damn, and next moment Tim is pushing dirt over to help him. I've seen that sort of interaction time after time on this channel.
Iv'e only done about 2 bid earth moving jobs in 10 tonne plus excavators . After operating mini diggers for years , the 10 tonne plus machines are so much smoother and easier to handle and control. Good video ...thanks.
Hi Chris Love your channel. Tell Tim I feel sorry for him when your uncle was helping him with the jumping jack been there but when the old guys want to make sure it’s done right you go with the flow.😁 I just got my hats from logger Wade. Are thinking hats one day? The only way I got Wade to send them to Canada was to tell him that Chris from letsdig18 will send to Canada. Lol
Have a couple questions..... I see some doziers with really wide tracks with a triangle shaped cleat. Are these for flotation or do they do a better job of packing the soil and how long did it take you to be able to "read" the different soil types.
Great video. I especially like the detective aspect where you are hunting for the leak. Question; when pricing a job such as this, where there is a hidden problem which defeats the dam, how do you make it right? In the eyes of the landowner, you have not done a good job and he paid a hefty price already. In your eyes, you can never predict such unseen problems, so how do you price for them? What do you do?
Time & Materials, no profit charges. Can't predict costs of what you can't see, because the leak was way below the dam build up. This team is very professional, I'm betting Chris or whomever talks to the customer, they try to explain all possible aspects or complications.
I'm old and out of the running now but back in the day I run everything they set in front of me like that Proclaim esquavators that leaked more oil than standard oil could produce. I was working on the ice up north here and decking logs so they would just go through ice and set ready to go in rafts. Well spring was peeking its head out so I took to leaving that Proclaim on the ice at night and sure enough on low tide you could see the top of the stick just above water... hooked skidder onto it and rolled it over so boats wouldn't hit it and sold it to insurance company. Never enjoyed making oil lines all day and packing five gallon buckets of oil back to fill again just to watch it blow another line off!! I imagine that those volvos are smooth to run, never thought they could put so many valve bodies on so you could walk, swing, load and esquavate so much. Must not be much gravel where ever your at
Looks great ! Again ! Was wondering if you ever come across any gray clay ? I'm in Maine and we only have gray clay that I've ever personally come across which is what I used on my letsdig18 inspired pond I put in last year
Now I’m sure the pucker factor was higher than 3 since you was sitting on top of that pile of dirt lol . I hoping you would use the jumping jack to see how good you could run it as good as all the other equipment lol
A perfectionist is seldom happy but great job on the Grading and blending in Chris you won’t know you were there in 12 months time. Do you compensate for natural consolidation?

Here as well, Gulf Coast Florida....Hot, muggy but the pool is great 👍 along with the beer.
I do enjoy watching the pond/dam repairs. 👍 🇬🇧
"Making a silk purse, from a sow's ear" is what we say about this job, Chris. Well done, for what you had to work with.

Nice to relate soil mechanics to your work .

As a constructionworker from Denmark it is fun to see how you do things in the US versus how we do things in Denmark.
That job turned out very nice.
"not perfect" you say, I see beautiness as always and a really good job well done
Happy Haircut Chris!!
My dads been driving for about 35 years and for my 14th I’m hiring a machine for a week and at the same time I’ll b watching you!!
That back slope sure did build up nicely with that extra clay fill now you just need some weeds or grass to start growing to protect that slope more.
Nice work dude, they called the right guy
Thanks for awsome videos👍
Lolz I was just thinking about the size of that bucket, then you did the man height comparison. That's a mighty big teaspoon ya got there.
Those guys running that tamper sure trust you!

Reminds of all the Turd pools we would have to rework the dams because Of seepage. Then pump them out and put in a liner.
You can move a lot of dirt with that machine. Amazing equipment
It's looking good.
Thanks.
Very nice grading the pond dam Chris very nice job 👌✌😎
Did the wet spot below the dam start showing signs of drying out after you got the dam all put back together?
First boys! In dump truck getting loaded & saw the notification!

There you go good as new.
I do this work every day but i never get to do ponds , looks like a lot of fun We do schools Subdivisions and building pads
All the dams I built leaked but I didn't have
that beautiful excavator to dig a nice keyway.
Had a few pipes wash out too.
Nice job!
Again very good job guy's love the video.
Chris's great job on the repair. Approximate what is the height and slope of the dam?

Having the claw on your excavator you could use a 12 foot rsj beam for strieghting out the slops where the dozer wont go
Looks mighty fine to me by the way nice haircut.

Now I’m sure the pucker factor was higher than 3 since you was sitting on top of that pile of dirt lol . I hoping you would use the jumping jack to see how good you could run it as good as all the other equipment lol
They really trust you when you swing that bucket
Keep the fingers crossed.
Another (Dam) good job.LOL Looks dam good to me👏🏻👏🏻👍👍🍺

Wonder how it gets scratched, since it seems to be just setting most of time. HA

The owner will appreciate the 'flatter' backslope.
Chris why do you think the bentonite failed in this application?
What kind of grass seed do you use.
