Hi Ken. Thanks for your diligence on disseminating info reflecting your various facets of knowledge. On the photography topic... do you have any updated recommendations on adapted lenses for Fujifilm Xmount in 2024? Peace & Thanks
Hi Ken how is the Yashica Auto Yashinon 5.5cm f1.8 vs the 5cm f2.0 adapted to XT2, I can get both but I'm unsure which ones resolution, Sharpenss and bokeh is the best of the two. I know you said they are rare lenses but the deal is soon to expire and will sell for more. Thanks
Hey Ken! I was wondering since you seem boss on this subject. I have a bronica s2 that has been in the family for years and has much sentimental value to me. I was wondering Is there any way to adapt an old bronica s2 lens for the gfx system? I'm trying to adapt the lens myself due to the lack of information on the internet. If not maybe a point in the right direction? I thank you for anything you can give me at this point. Take care of yourself and have a great day
Hi, I have adapted the Nikkor 180mm f2.8 (bought on your recommendation ) to my Fujifilm X-H1 (also recently bought on your recommendation) and love the results! Do you know if the Fujifilm teleconverter would work with this adapted prime lens? Many thanks as always, much appreciated!
Thanks so much for the awesome videos. Was wondering what you guys would recommend for an inexpensive 35mm or 24mm(28mm)? I see a lot of 50mm recommendations. But, would love to see some ideas for wider angles?
Haha, a 'GLADSTONE' doctors kit bag! Very cool and can be very expensive. My grandfather uprooted his entire family and moved to the US from the UK in the 60's for work as an aviation engineer. He used this EXACT bag to carry all of his drafting kit. He always called it his "Gladstone" bag and it was identical to this one. They can be worth as much £1000 in the UK. A London Antiques Dealers would ask a lot more than that. I inherited his Gerstner & Sons wooden chests but not his Gladstone bag unfortunately. I only recently discovered that the Gerstner chests were really quite sought after in the US (not the UK though). He was a man of good taste my grandfather.
Is it really a huge jump if i change from full frame 5d mark iii into medium format mirrorless? I shoot a lot for billboard and advertisement just consider to buy phase one for commercial work but the price is near 4 times than fuji Gfx...please suggest me :) thank you mate!
The Real Tech Geek thanks for your kind reply! One step ahead to buy this fuji 50s... but this september 2018 at Photokina..Fuji will release gfx 50R, R means Range finder and it cost around $4000-$4200. Like the price shown about, they will cut some feature from 50s... Are 50r worth to wait? Or just go with 50s :)
FullandStarving Photography Hello you welcome! Rangefinder are different that's not really good for commercial photography but i am not sure though from memory never heard him mention rangefinder medium format. Man that would be so awesome for street photography and hopefully faster autofocus and just get the gfx 50s such an amazing value
for $32,000 more youre getting 5% more. Other comparisons hit the same conclusions roughly as well. Fuji DOES HAVE a rental dept,....thought about rending a GFX for a week? :)
Theoria Apophasis what a nice and makesense reply! In my country, which is Indonesia... the GFX are still not available for rent. I can only go to the store and test the camera itself for couple minutes. But since there is no negative comment so far with the image quality and gfx lens...i consider to do an investment with the GFX :)
Trying to decide which voigtlander to get - 35mm f1.2 or the 40mm f1.2 - have you compared them to eachother or to the Zeiss biogon 35mm f2? I got the yashinon on your recommendation! Thanks so much! Waited ages on eBay for it!
I have both and that 40mm is MUCH sharper but balances better on smaller cameras. No matter which one you get you’re not losing cause they are both sharp and the rendering is gorgeous
My two cents: the Pentax (Asahi) SMC 50mm F1.4. Nice bokeh, dreamy rendering, good enough sharpness for portraits, built like a tank. Is it excellent (compared with Fuji lenses)? No, not by a long shot. But it only costs 20$ (the adaptor was more expensive) so you still get a lot of bang for your buck.
I have 1 and I love it. Its a great lens with great character. The pentax smc 135 mm f3.5 is another good inexpensive one. The konica 55mm f1.8 is another awesome as well.
How do you feel about the 58mm on the d500? I only shoot portrait headshots and the d800 with an 85mm is my current go to. Without the benefits of autofocus, is there a reason to use it on the d500?
Ken, is the adapter for the Voigtländer 40mm 1.4 this one? : www.ebay.com/itm/K-F-Concept-adapter-for-Leica-M-mount-lens-to-Fujifilm-X-Pro2-X-A2-X-E1-X-T1/282274789450?hash=item41b8e3784a:g:sMcAAOSwHMJYMCAB Thanks!!
Haha... You bas...rd... Hahaha... What is the reference for the hood, anyway? I don't understand why they put a bayonet for the lenshood but don't supply any hood with the lens. And then, if you wanna buy the lenshood you have to sell one testicle...
When I'm just taking a Fuji with me - I try to pick smaller lenses (and try to keep it to just one or two). I'll typically pick one of: Zeiss Ultron 50mm f/1.8 Zeiss Biotar 58mm f/2.0 Topcon 58mm f/1.4 (pretty big - especially with the hood, but a great lens) Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon 50/1.9 Voigtlander Ultron 50mm f/2 (prominent mount - was my grandpa's) Leica collapsible Elmar 50mm f/3.5 or Summitar 50mm f/2 (able to put camera with lens into my pocket) Leica Summarit 50mm f/1.5 - smaller than dslr fast lenses Pentax 110 lenses - these lenses are tiny - I just throw them all in my pocket. (18, 24, 50, 70mm) They're ok-ish Sometimes I'll take my Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/2 and Helios 40-2 85mm f/1.5 - but those lenses are pretty big / heavy, so I typically just keep them on my full frame dslrs.
Hey Ken! Thanks for all the testing and information provided in your videos. I’d love to see a video about adapted Voigts on the GFX. Things like coverage, rendering etc Most crotchmelting (thanks for adding to my english vocabulary ;) ) wide, normal and tele voights on the gfx. Pretty please :) And thanks for your work, both photo and magnetism. Cheers!
I'm Fisheye lenses Tester, and u should say unfortunately Nikkor 10.5 is not the best out there, you should see the Samyang 8mm f3.5 for DSLR and 8mm f2.8 for mirrorless cameras, the Samyang is way much better than Nikkor.
@@bat-il9iu yes i had already, isnt the best, not because it's very cheap but it dosen't gives you the full image, only circule in the middel and the corner are black, so that why still Samyang 8mm the cheapst and the sharpst on the market

Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon 50/1.9
Voigtlander Ultron 50mm f/2 (prominent mount - was my grandpa's)
Leica collapsible Elmar 50mm f/3.5 or Summitar 50mm f/2 (able to put camera with lens into my pocket)
Leica Summarit 50mm f/1.5 - smaller than dslr fast lenses
Pentax 110 lenses - these lenses are tiny - I just throw them all in my pocket. (18, 24, 50, 70mm) They're ok-ish
