Sandstone it is, i was disappointed with them and wondered why they are so popular, never run on "sandstone" whatever that exactly is. So for my mainly indoor runs i stay with the two recently released S5 tires.
I'm planning on doing that if I ever get back into 10th scale. I am currently re-vamping the test rig because I realized that the testing media introduced variables.
So, cg plays a big roll in available traction, as does foams, tire thickness, and the combo of all of the above. I cant think of ANY way in which these variables could be removed however.
Very true. The setup should eliminate cg as a variable, as I'm anchored from the rear axle. I plan on testing foams as well, but for starters just running thing the way they are out of the box. Tire thickness is pretty much set with these, so while it's a variable between tires, it should be a decent indication of what you could expect.
@@cncrc i agree on most of that, but i dont agree that cg is eliminated as a variable due to towing- when towing cg has a HUGE affect on how tires react and get traction, especially if the point at which the tow strap is attached remains the same. However, this isnt meant to say your test is bad, it isnt. I cant think of anyway to eliminate the problem.
This is valuable information My terrain is pretty much all sandstone so looks like there’s no way to improve grip if I’m already running the pins and mini pins on my 2 rigs
I was thinking about doing this at work, knew someone had to have done it. the only thing I would do differently is use a single tyre on a jig where you can vary the weight to control deformation. This also takes the flipping and stability problems away. Still, great testing and yes - patagonias would be great to see.
Please test the new injora A/t tires 62mm
Comparing with the RC4WD Patagonias would be very helpful in my opinion.
Great tests, very scientific! =)
Hook your strap in the center of you rig so it pulls down as you hit the throttle giving you even traction with all 4 tires
68mm dj crawlers...nice n squidgy

Great videos man
It’d be so cool to see this done with 1/10th scale tires! It’d be best to use some kind of printed foam to control that variable

Yet another amazing video! I really like mine. They did slip a lot on some logs, so that makes sense.
Best scx24 tire testing on TH-cam

That is exactly what I'm working on putting together, this the delay in new episodes. I'm also working on more accurate data collection.
@@cncrcIf you are still looking for ideas, a digital torque meter could be used to test at what point the tire slips
You should test the Injora 1.0 all terrain tires 🛞 T1014.
