LOVE the knowledge sharing in this video. The gatekeeping in the knitting community drives me crazy when compared to how much the community goes on about being inclusive and accepting and full of partnerships. Knowledge sharing for dayssss ♡♡♡
Thank you for this video, Hannah. So interesting your preferences and to know that there are UK-based suppliers for some of the international products. I just discovered that Wool Warehouse stock a selection of undyed bases from Chester Wool in a range of yarn weights and fibres - could be useful for folk just wanting to try a skein or two 🙂
I used to dye yarn many years ago & often used vinegar. I'm the only one in my house with a sense of smell but my daughters sometimes got comments from friends about the smell. Switched to citric acid.
Thank you it's been a great help. What I can't find anywhere is what pans etc and sizes are best and where to buy them. I'm just getting started as a hobbyist
I make Rosaries, but for knotted rosary cords I cant find the ones I want. They mostly havr it in the US. So I'm planning to hand dye them myself as i can find white cord from hardware. I also want to make my rosaries out of wool so Im wstching your video for inspiration. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. ❤
Hi Hannah, just watched this video as my daughter and I are dipping our toes into the hand dyeing process. Did you do a follow up video talking about equipment etc etc.?? 🤩🤩
yes please on equipment. I'm so close to diving head first into yarn dyeing for fun. I've literally had chester wool co tabs open on my computer for a week now. just waiting for me to click buy
When I first started getting into dyeing yarn none of my local dyers would even tell me where to get undyed yarn or dye. I wasn't asking where they get specific bases, or what colors they used. I just wanted general information. So, now when someone asks me where I get my supplies or how to do a certain technique, I'm more than happy to share that information. Side note: I also rely heavily on Dharma's Delphinium Blue. It's just such a good blue.
Thank you, for sharing this information. It's really helpful to know where I can get good acid dyes from. I would love to hear about equipment you use.
I recently discovered Dina's for Dharma dyes, had been ordering Jacquard from Empress Mills (also a UK company) but found there are not so many colours. Love your videos and wish I could have the success that you have! Thanks for sharing all you do x
I would really love to know what hot plate thingy you use! Would love to know about your equipment but specifically how you heat your catering pans. New subbie here 👋
I love your channel and have bought several skeins of your yarn. Love them all. Was wondering if you would ever sell mini scraps for making memories sick blanket?
