Johnny’s documentary is heartfelt, deeply moving, and refreshingly honest. It’s sure to resonate with everyone who watches it. I believe it has the potential to inspire countless people to reflect on their relationship with alcohol and consider making positive changes to live their best life. 🙏
I finished watching this last night and had to come back to comment! This is undoubtedly one of the most powerful documentaries I’ve ever watched. Having known Johnny professionally and personally for the last few years, and him playing an important role in my own sobriety journey, the emotion here hits hard. Johnny, your raw honesty and openness is inspiring. Absolutely incredible. Thank you mate for sharing this. I didn’t think it was possible to have any more respect for you, but here we are! Thank you 💚
I can’t tell you how moved I was by your story Johnny. As the child of an alcoholic, it offered me powerful insight into the mind of someone addicted to alcohol. It brought clarity and a new perspective from the other side-something I never had the chance to learn from my own dad. For you, alcohol helped you survive, and I can’t help but wonder, in a twisted sense of irony, if it was the same for my dad. This documentary has given me a new level of understanding and a glimpse into the mind of addiction! It’s raw, authentic, and deeply moving. This is a truly personal and gripping piece of work that makes you feel as though you are in the room with you!
A brilliant and heartfelt watch. It was beautifully honest and open and inspiring to watch. By watching this, has given me a different perception of addiction especially around loneliness. A truly fantastic watch!
“Thank you for sharing such a powerful and inspiring story, Johnny! Your journey is a testament to resilience and personal growth, and I know it’s going to resonate with so many people. I’m truly honored to have you joining the podcast soon and can’t wait to dive deeper into your insights and wisdom. Looking forward to sharing your incredible message with the world!”
Inspiring to watch. I admire your honesty and vulnerability Johnny, your story will help others enormously. People are often shamed for their addictions without understanding often it can be the only way to survive or get through something at the time ❤
Thank you for making this. I found so much of this relatable, the leaving the pub early to carry on alone, is something I did time and time again. I’m a month sober today
This is such a open, honest and powerful documentary Johnny It's so important to raise awareness and challenges assumptions in this space. It's a privilege to walk this journey with you as your coach x
What a powerful and inspiring film. Many will resonate with the loneliness and alcohol becoming a trusted companion which soothes that, as a parent with past trauma, I totally resonated that “Alcohol stopped me asking questions that were going to tear me apart.” It works until it doesn’t. There is no shame in that, it was your solution with the knowledge you had at the time, and now you know different! Thank you for sharing that it looks different for different people, that you maybe high functioning on the outside but drifting further and further away from what matters most to you on the inside, that’s the most painful part. I am so glad you get to be the version of yourself now which makes you proud. It’s a testament to your compassion and strength, which reflects in who you are and the work you do. Thanks again for sharing your story. I am sure it will help many.
I rewatched it… I had to, and I want to thank you for sharing such an intense, necessary, and impactful conversation about your past addiction and the influences that shaped who you are today. Talking about dependency and the need to rewrite the script deeply resonated with me, especially the statement, “Alcohol didn’t abuse me, I abused alcohol,” which struck a personal chord. We all depend on something often abusing it to get by, sometimes we abuse our own self worth as it’s familiar yet damaging until we can see it for what it really is. Thank you again, this documentary will not only change lives it will save them 🙏🏼❤️
Your honesty and vulnerability make this so powerful Johnny - the emotion is palpable. You explain the feelings that come with sober curiosity and sobriety so articulately that any sober person would feel seen and understood. Thank-you for telling your story in this way, it will help so many and congratulations on 4 years!
Johnny’s story is one of sorrow and despair but ultimately the power of the human spirit. A poignant reminder of the untold struggles so many endure. And of the strength we often don’t realise we have. It reminds us that love and courage can triumph over even the scariest of demons - the ones rooted in our past, residing in our minds and hiding in the depths of a bottle. His story will inspire people to confront their challenges, rewrite their narratives, and remember that freedom and love are out there waiting for us, even when it feels like we're drowning in darkness.
If I was just starting out on my sober journey, this would documentary would have helped me enormously. The honesty and insight shown in such a calm, humble and relatable way would have given me hope for a brighter future, and especially at the end when Johnny reflects on what sobriety has given him. Johnny, I've been following you for a while, you are amazing! You helped me make the connection with my self sabotaging behaviour. Once you showed me the key to unlock that door my sobriety was off like a steam train. Thank you for all that you do. You are changing lives.
Wow, so powerful & I watched this twice. I could write an essay on how it made me feel but I’ll keep it short. The tears flowed as so much resonated. Thank you for sharing. The 8 year old Johnny not wanting to be here anymore struck a cord together the question have you had enough pain yet. This documentary gives hope, compassion, understanding & you can feel the joy/freedom this has given you & all your family. Very thought provoking & I have no doubt that this will help many humans. Congratulations on your 4 years soberversary, amazing achievement 👏🏻🎉
I love how this is has been conveyed, your truth , vulnerability & honesty will help others. this is so powerful , painful, insightful and relatable. The rejection aspect really hit home 🙏🏽🧿
Thank you for your vulnerability and openness, told in such an engaging way that I know will impact on so many. Although our addiction stories are hugely different the way how you said that it was something that helped you not check out of life all together is so relatable and so true for my own story and for so many others and will help people have more self understanding. And how you linked it to being a relationship and needing to break up with it was so spot on, and the grief you experience letting go was just brilliant. You’re story shows amazing that it doesn’t matter how your story starts, that freedom is so possible. and Your story and you are a testament to that. You’re a gift to the world 🙏🏽
