OMG!!! Can't tell you how much I am loving and appreciating your channel!!!! So wonderful to go back in time NC classic games in old commercials. THANK YOU for letting us Old School Sports Lovers have a time machine. SINCERELY
As I DC fan all my life, I remember sitting in my living room back in '78 watching this game as a 14 yr old! I cannot thank you enough for posting this game and bringing back vivid memories for me. I always like when you post a full game w/all the commercials!!!
Roger was so good. The discussions in these Cowboy games was never "is Staubach playing well today?", it's like it was taken for granted that he made little to no mistakes. The topic was always about the other players doing well or not.
@@ericsoley2721 Agreed. Tom didn't even know that a player isn't ruled down in the NFL until he's touched. I mean, the guy played a long time and announced games for years and he didn't know THAT rule? You kidding me?
Hey thank for the post, too young to remember this game, and also thanks for the extra bonus NBC coverage of the Jets @ Cleveland. Football was great in the 70s
Scott Laidlaw was having a good year replacing the injured Robert Newhouse. But Landry had a policy that a starter could not lose his job due to injury. So Newhouse started in SB13 and wasn't quite himself. I think the Dallas offense missed Laidlaw in that game.
@@texasstadium Yep!! On a couple more plays in that game he threw some good blocks...I started to watch his other games and noticed he almost always had key blocks in big plays, outstanding
Wow, thanks for uploading this! I was at this game, sitting in the 700 level north east part of the stadium. At least we were in the Sun but it didn't matter...it was COLD!!!
Philadelphia a big, physical team that could definitely tangle with the likes of the Cowboys. Great uniforms, especially Philly, though my favorite of the Eagles' were the unis that came after these, with no stripes on the sleeves. The blue pants of the Cowboys, look pretty good, in retrospect.
Thanks so much for posting this. Was the first NFL game I attended in person, was 9 at the time. All I remember about it is I was really, really cold the whole time.
@@MIKIEEYEZ1975 if I was going to make up being at a game, I would have picked a more interesting one than this. Also, I was wearing the green Eagles hat.
CBS Sports Spectacular? Oh man, I'm getting old... I loved watching the commercials as much as the game itself. Casey Kasem doing the plug for Farmers Insurance? Can it get much better than this?
Being a Packers fan the 70's were rough. Ron Jaworski got slaughtered this game. He got hit so many times. Was the offensive line playing? Lynn Dickey in GB used to get clobbered like this quite often. You can't complete passes if your on your back, or getting your bell rung! For the Eagles being 8-6? They looked rough! Really rough!
This is just a few games from the end of Dallas' golden era. The next year they are the #1 team in the NFC but are one and done in the playoffs. Two years later they come into this same stadium as a wild card for the NFC Championship and lose to the Eagles 20-7. Leave the ads in. While unwelcome at the time they are an interesting time capsule. Over four decades later.
Damn Greek! You wrre dead on point about the Colts. T h ey should've fired Marchibroda in 1978, instead of waiting. another year. One thing we know...George Allen would've turned those Colts around.

I have always wanted to ask Coach Landry why players like Tony Dorsett are still playing at the end of a game that for all practical purposes is over. Why risk an injury?
@ 1:34:00 COWBOYS MAGIC!!!! Summerall and Brookshire do not say but "AMERICA'S FANS" Come ALIVE!! THAT IS COWBOYS LANDRY FOOTBALL. CLASS VS CHEAPSHOTS...
Starting at 4:49 Brookshier talks how Staubach sucked and Billy Joe DuPree didn't catch a ball...But it took the classy Pat Summerall to say Dallas won the game though.... 🤔...AND beat them 8 games in a row....not gonna give it away if it was 9 in a row....
Brookshier did allow Summeral a chance to say more than " it's up, and it's good" I love Madden but late in his career he became a blabber mouth, and I watched him since the 70s as a coach.
Some history for Cowboys and Eagles fans: Eagles only beat the Cowboys three time in the 70's: once each in 1973, '74 and '79. From 1960-2018, Cowboys lead the all-time regular season series 65-51; and 3-1 in playoffs. However The Eagles are closest in all-time wins to The Cowboys than Giants and Cowboys.
Read CAREFULLY: EAgles beat Cowboys only THREE TIMES throughout the 70's. That makes no sense?? Since they've been playing from 1965, The Cowboys lead the all-time series. What doesn't make sense?
RIP Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier

Saw many games at the vet as a kid, this brings back some memories.
Nice to see the Commercials in with this it's gold
Cowboys literally took the Eagles to the woodshed here! Sent Ron Jaworski to the whirlpool. 8 sacks on the hard Vet Stadium astroturf!
Jaworski just got the piss knocked out of him in this game.
