That bike is good news... Traditional Honda refinement at reasonable prices should put more people within reach of a good two-wheeler.. Now if insurance will tolerate 'sport bike fairings' I might want one.

I actually really like these, to the point where if my shed burnt down tomorrow and I had to buy one bike for 90% of my riding I’d be seriously considering one. Sensibly priced, in-line 4, not too much tech and best of all - proper clipons! Very good review as usual Kate 👍
That’s a cheeky little bike, Kate. I like it. Especially the pleasant whirring sounds from the Honda I4 engines. Sounds like the space craft in the Jetsons cartoon…am I right:)
Let us pause for a moment to big-up Honda who are, as far as I am aware, the only manufacturer that still produces an inline four mid-range motorcycle. 👏👏👏 Also, how cool is that Alpine at 8:57... 😎

Great review. I have one and have noticed that if I go round a corner in too higher gear it will slip the clutch. I've had a luggage rack fitted from Hepco & Becker and SW-Motech Blaze saddle bags for trips away and they don't look out of place on the bike.

I owned and loved the 2022 Honda CBR650R until i got hit by a car (i was injury free, the bike totaled). Used it for commuting, weekend riding trips (poor luggage cap), full on spirited riding in the twisties and track riding. On the street, not even the S1000RR could keep up with me in the twisties. It was perfectly fine for beginner/early intermediate track riding , but a bit down on power for track riding in general. I would have gotten a new one in a heartbeat if i didn't get a Sick deal on my brand new Street Triple 765 RS. However, I just didn't like the new E-clutch pricing, and there isn't a none E-clutch available here. In our currency it went from 129,000 to 159,000 (for a comparison, my Street Triple 765 RS cost 141,000 after registration and everything). That's a massive price increase for an unnecessary extra part. And it's just another thing that can go wrong down the road...

I did a test drive with a 35kW 650R, without the e-clutch. I found it a bit odd with a bike that has a rev range that I can only use legally in the first gear... and the torque in the "legal" rev range isn't that impressive. I also took a test ride on a cbr 500r for comparison, and found it juicier up to 8000rpm. I hope the 650 is better in the non-restricted version!
There's a huge difference. On the restricted version, once you go past 9000 RPM, you can feel it plateau in speed. That's exactly where the inline 4 delivers the most torque, and that's when the restriction becomes most noticeable. On the unrestricted version, you never feel it plateau until you hit the redline. It just keeps asking for more and more! It's one of the best feelings ever 😄 As for the CBR500R, it’s a twin-cylinder bike, so it delivers more torque at lower RPMs. Keep in mind that when it hits the redline (9000 RPM), the 650R is just starting to take off. At that point, it really comes down to personal preference, your riding style, and how you plan to use the bike.
Have to Agree that it looks dead Kool in the Matt Black, Think it needs a custom End Can😁 Really don't know how Honda are doing that Hornet 1000 for that price though, That's a real Bargain.
Can anyone who owns a CBR 650R comment on this "buzzy" feeling that some reviewers are reporting that is coming through the handle bars and foot pegs at higher RPMs? Thanks.
Normally I would be scolding it for the geriatric e-clutch but since I bought a second hand Energica Esseesse9 a week ago I can no longer complain about overly gadgety and heavy bikes while keeping on a straight face. That darn Energica doesn’t even have a gearbox! Which I actually miss a lot. So I still don’t get the reasoning behind putting such a contraption on an ICE bike! Except the geriatric bit, that is. Oops. There I go again! Old habits die hard. 😁
Honestly, I shared your opinion until I bought it 🤣 The dealership in my area only stocked the e-clutch models, and my plan was to buy the standard version, but it wasn’t possible. Since it could be deactivated and used manually, I didn’t give it much importance. After trying it, I can say the e-clutch isn’t just convenient, it’s super fun. When you test it on twisty roads, that’s when you really notice its potential. It’s so smooth that it doesn’t even flinch if you shift gears mid-corner. In fact, it’s in city traffic and jams where it performs the worst, as you can feel it either going too fast or constantly engaging the clutch. That’s when I usually switch to manual mode. It’s a great addition to a sporty bike, it’s like a souped-up quickshifter. And surely, on a CBR600RR with electronic throttle, we’d notice the downshifts even more, working like a blipper.
@@diegorob93 In a slightly later comment I was a bit milder. I gues it's more a matter of me being an old purist. I actually love the interaction between gearbox and clutch because it gives a feeling of achievement and honing ones skills. That's also why I normally like lighter bikes. You got to work them a bit to get where you are going while still staying at mor eor less road legal speeds. If one however constantly rides in an urban environment such tools are probably nice. But then again: One does not buy a sportsbike to do the milkround, does one? But to get out of the asfalt jungle and as long as it doesn't weigh too much or break down: Well alright then. Still missing the gearbox on the Energica though.🙂
@@marcbrasse747 Of course, I wasn’t trying to criticize. Every opinion is valid and respectable. I just wanted to share my experience because Honda marketed it as a convenient technology, but perhaps the best part is in its performance. That’s where it really surprised me the most. In the end, the feeling you get is what matters most, and this adds something new without having to give up the classic way 😉
@steveparish9210 technically yes but in principle it's the same, the bike will pick a suitable gear for the speed your going but you the rider can over ride that
@@kenmorrison1725 The e-clutch does not shift gears automatically; the rider has to operate the gear lever. It simply saves you from having to pull the clutch lever. It’s similar to the sequential shifting in a car.
I don't think there's an option to purchase a new non e-clutch now I personally don't like the look of the carbuncle stuck to the side of the engine...
I haven't bought one yet but although this looks wayyy sexier than the suzuki, I just gel with the 8R so much that I think I will still buy one. I love that parallel twin engine :)

Great bike, if i was thirty years younger and i do think the e-clutch is a deal breaker.
You can also turn it off and use the clutch normally as well., and days you feel like just cruising - then the e-clutch can ease up your clutch hand.,
Fudds gonna Fudd.
Bruges is not far from me, did you enjoy it?
LOVED IT - my soul adores it there.
would you recommend this over the Suzuki's GSX-8r?
I think over all its better quality, but i'm a sucker for the 800 engine in the 8R
👍👍
I did a test drive with a 35kW 650R, without the e-clutch. I found it a bit odd with a bike that has a rev range that I can only use legally in the first gear... and the torque in the "legal" rev range isn't that impressive. I also took a test ride on a cbr 500r for comparison, and found it juicier up to 8000rpm. I hope the 650 is better in the non-restricted version!
Much different. I've ridden the restricted one before and this one full power, they're world's apart 😊
It's one of the best feelings ever 😄
As for the CBR500R, it’s a twin-cylinder bike, so it delivers more torque at lower RPMs. Keep in mind that when it hits the redline (9000 RPM), the 650R is just starting to take off. At that point, it really comes down to personal preference, your riding style, and how you plan to use the bike.
Hi Kate. I've heard that this bike can be vibie when it hits 5000rpm, Is it bad or manageable as I'm looking into this bike?
I didn't personally find vibrations an issue at all on this and I'm very sensitive to vibrations 😊
Thankyou Kate big help 👍@@UsernameKate
How does the eclutch respond on a hill start and can you stay on the throttle when going up a gear ?
just like any other bike on a hill start :) and yea, you can stay on the throttle :)
Have to Agree that it looks dead Kool in the Matt Black, Think it needs a custom End Can😁 Really don't know how Honda are doing that Hornet 1000 for that price though, That's a real Bargain.
I didn't hear you mention E-clutch>? Do you like it?
I've coveted the eclutch quite directly and specifically in 2 other videos so I wanted to focus on the bike with a sprinkling of e clutch 😊
Seems heavy for a 600-650 CBR , yes/no ?
What buff do you wear??
It's a Bikesure buff. If you're UK based and going to the Motorcycle Live Show, they have them on the stand :)
looks exactly like my 2014 cbr650f same bike essentially minor differces
Can anyone who owns a CBR 650R comment on this "buzzy" feeling that some reviewers are reporting that is coming through the handle bars and foot pegs at higher RPMs? Thanks.
I personally didn't find it, but looking forward to owners contributing :)
How would you compare it with Daytona 660
I haven't ridden it yet unfortunately!
@ waiting for the review

❤
I'm so mad I cant get it in black State side.
What are your equipments?
Equipment's you say?
@ yes jacket pant backpack ?
In the end, the feeling you get is what matters most, and this adds something new without having to give up the classic way 😉
👍
I find it really funny how all the bike journalists loves this E clutch yet when honda released bikes with the DCT they all pretty much hated it
E-clutch is quite different from DCT
@steveparish9210 technically yes but in principle it's the same, the bike will pick a suitable gear for the speed your going but you the rider can over ride that
@@kenmorrison1725 The e-clutch does not shift gears automatically; the rider has to operate the gear lever. It simply saves you from having to pull the clutch lever. It’s similar to the sequential shifting in a car.
Would if the insurance wasnt 50% more expensive than the non faired identical cb650r.
I don't think there's an option to purchase a new non e-clutch now I personally don't like the look of the carbuncle stuck to the side of the engine...
There certainly is in the UK. It's a £130 option to add e clutch 😊
Strangely the last time I enquired I was told all CBR650R coming to the UK will only be available with the e-clutch
I hope that's not the case because choice is key! Although, at least manual mode on this is a true manual mode! We shall see
@oldfella4096 I’m not sure about the UK, but I bought mine in Spain, and as you said, they only stocked the e-clutch version.
this or used triumph daytona 675
Use gopro instead of dji due to lack of colour in the video
DJI so much more convenient for me though
@@UsernameKate VISUAL QUALITY IS A MAIN THING
I don't think it's lacking in quality. And that's your preference. Not necessarily that of everyone else or mine for that matter 😊
"E-clutch"?
I kinda feel like we've solved the biggest problem I never had.
My gosh your boyfriend’s a lucky man 😛
Lush as always
Are you sorry now that you bought the Suzuki GSX 8R
I haven't bought one yet but although this looks wayyy sexier than the suzuki, I just gel with the 8R so much that I think I will still buy one. I love that parallel twin engine :)
x-max market's ... ?
( ~29.900km in three years fefill for 1203.79 euromony /, varible cam-shaft at ~7000rpm ↖️ yamaha

for me is japan powertrains are head - to - head and turbo/supercharger is not for need , to much wight !
what will happen if you change the second transmission with a kit like years ago r6 rider's done
inkl. the publishing of miles per gallone ✌️🍀
Orb technology
OMG they copied my 2018 Fireblade track bike Fairings
Compared to the Kawasaki zx4r you get alot of bike over the zx4,,,,,, with about 30hp more with the Honda you should know that the Zx4 is good but the Honda is alot more bike.👍
Maybe I'm just a stuckinmyways old fart, but I really can't see the point in these clutchless bikes. If I was commuting, maybe they'd make more sense.
These first person videos are no reviews...all the same, cant see anything from the bike...lame
Try the first 2 minutes sir. Make sure to subscribe, I'm 3 away from 100,000 ☺️
@UsernameKate wtf
Aww thanks! Hit it :)
E clutch is just marketing for semi automatic
