Great channel! Discovered it two weeks ago. I would suggest continuing the stone border for the entire perimeter of the building. I believe it would balance it out visually.

Cheers Jason. Yes that's not a bad call and I admit I looked out of the window earlier and imagined it, but I can't bear the idea of more stone work! (plus I've ordered the wood to fiull length!)

Very cool build! TH-cam finally recommended your channel and I'm bing watching. I very much enjoy watching the barn go up.

Really glad to see you posting again Alex. I went back through all my subscribed channels trying to find your series of videos because I was keen to see the progress and was sad to see you’d not uploaded for some time. I feared your project had run out of steam, or that you’d given up, so it’s nice to see you’re still going strong.
The warts and all, leave the mistakes in style is refreshing to see compared to all the polished, staged, and frankly sterile videos already out there. Hats off for taking the time to bring all of us armchair builders along for the sometimes bumpy ride 😊

I dont understand the moisture proof level? Seems like the only thing that connects all of the building above it is gravity?

Mate you and I are kindered spirits! I love this project, except the part where you took the easy way out and decided to make the back part of the barn in wood, haha. But what do I know you're the one living the dream, I'm just admiring it. By the way this is very admirable thing to do. There's too many cheap, ugly buildings going up in the world, someone will admire this building long after you're gone. Can you give an idea of the costs associated for a pallet of stone and mortar? Looking forward to you posting more work.

Hey M M - thanks for the comments. The stone you see there was delivered in 2 loads costing about £3300 each load, so not cheap! The sand & cement mix is pretty cheap although I needed 5 bulk bags at £80 each. The quoins for the arch were £70 each and I bought 30 of them... so about £9K all in...

Great to see you back Alex. It did make me think: what the hell happened to 2022?, but then I remembered that I’ve bought my first house and started doing some simple DIY on it! Looking forward to the arch video.

14:44 the difference in quality is clear. Great job!
    ... 20:40 even better!

Yes the thing I learned is also that the bigger the wall, the better it looks. When it's small your eye is drawn to every dodgy bit...

You'd of made you job alot easier if you'd of got some jumper stones. Makes it easier to course you're work instead of just having to stay on one level. it also looks better IMO. Once you have your eye in with stonework you'll find it easier to spot shapes that fit with other stones. The quarry fucked you with that bag looked like a lot of crap in it.

Have to admit I wasn't that pleased with it - earlier bags were way better and I did raise a complaint...

For sure pyramidal block is not very useful
