Tariqa and tasavvuf from Nursi's perspective, a summary with his own words. (Telvihat-ı Tisa/Mektubat):
"The aim and goal of the Sufi path (tarıqa) is - knowledge of God and the unfolding of the truths of faith - through a spiritual journeying with the feet of the heart under the shadow of the Ascension of Muhammad (UWBP), to manifest the truths of faith and the Qur’an through tasting and certain enhanced states, and to an extent through direct vision; it is an elevated human mystery and perfection called the Sufi path or Sufism."

I have learned quite a lot from Professor Aslan this is no exception. The thing that is most impressive is this Aristotle type golden mean of hope an criticism. That in itself is very powerful. You can point out the flaws and still have hope for the future.

Bediuzzaman Said Nursi is the owner of a unique work on Sufism and tariqa. This article, in which he describes the essentials of Sufism and tariqa, is in his work called Mektubat, the Letters.

Thanks for this profound interview. Bediuzzaman Said Nursi does not deny tariqa, he is against the methodology . And he defends tariqa of that time has to be with cemaat ( community).

Al 'ulum al 'aqliya : the intellectual sciences, meaning logic, philosophy and metaphysics.
Al 'ulum al naqliya, meaning sciences based on revelation. fiqh, tafsir, hadiths, etc.
Aql : the intellect. Naql : literally the written. The revelation so.

They say that the Middle East is the root fitna (فتنه). So I think that we have to criticize both our countries, which is iraq, and other nations. But we have to be really prepared

Thankyou for great thoughts Dr Nasser. I am from the City of Dr Iqbal. I think you have not read Reconstruction of Religious Thoughts written by him. What the anchor was asking you is that no recent Philosopher of modern times was as critical as Iqbal who successfully highlighted the issue of Ijtihad. He was Doctor of Philosophy and you said he doest know anything about Philosophy. Phew and you said he was influenced by British...he studied law there, he completed his Phd from Germany not Britian. You are also sitting in USA-The Great American Civilization, you are influenced some way too to those civilizations as you didt take the jibe at Western Scholars or Orientalists rather hit back at Occidentialists. You are hiding many things. Is this HIKMA ? UNITE YOUTH OF THE WORLD FROM DIFFERENT MUSLIM COMMUNITIES instead of throwing the ideologies of Iqbal and Norsi. We dont have much people in Philosophy. Sorry for daring to write this but Ummah suffered with the thoughts of I AM BETTER THAN OTHERS. No.....Islam ensure equality. Knowledge is from Allah.

Sirs,as the Arab religion is absolutely complete, and the holy books have everything in them, what is left there to be developed intellectually any further ?

Modern philosophy has problems, actually it always has problems.
However, modern science and technology are necessary for Muslims , for Chinese, for every nation. Therefore, modern science and technology are essential for modern ummah. As for philosophy, it can be quite easily digested and assimilated into Islamic philosophy.
