  • In this video I ask Dr. Nasr a number of questions dealing with the nature of metaphysics, perennial philosophy and Traditionalism. Dr. Nasr is a highly respected Muslim scholar in the field of Islamic philosophy and metaphysics, and it is a true honor to have him as our guest on this channel.

If I had to name the man who I considered to be the most intelligent man currently alive that I know of, it would be Dr. Nasr. I hope to one day speak to him about how bridges may be built between we Christians and Islam.

Can you make a video on the method of deification? I think Muslims have dhikr, Orthodox have hesychasm, etc. Either that, or a video on the Traditionalist perspective on politics and what kind of policies they would promote. Maybe it would be inspired by Plato, Aristotle, and Aquinas.

Perennialists' ignorance and conceit will ensure that it remains marginalised. Every philosophical and theological viewpoint, including the Perennial Philosophy, has strengths and weaknesses. It is quite appropriate to examine any viewpoint critically.
For those of us who cherish the advances of modern civilization, however, it is frustrating to witness the inflexible and dogmatic resistance to modernity and science displayed by these Perennialists.
Of what kind of "Intellect" is he proud of? Even the fact of biological evolution, which any objective simpleton might see, is beyond his comprehension. These perennialists have little trouble uniting wildly disparate and opposing faiths. On the other hand, modern ideals are not accepted with the same earnestness. In essence, perennialism is nothing but a kind of cosmopolitan conservatism that opposes modernism, humanism, and liberalism.
