I'm speechless...He seems to understand so much about Rachmaninoff 's pieces and find the links between them. And his playing is so fine and fluid; just look at how he doesn't even need to look at the keys at 3:13.
Good to hear that! In case you want to see more of our podcasts, here is one on the Rite of Spring performed in Paris for the 100th Anniversary of the piece! youtube com v=Ofcj6cm1bo8
+dichidi1 The way I understood it was: he was playing pieces from Rach 2, Rach 3 and Rach 4 that made their way to the Rhapsody. And, at 3.27 he was talking about the piece from the Rach 4 Finale, which he himself termed as "memento of love for Russia".
His explanations are very technical, and so is his touch, in this particular vid. I would suggest you to listen to his Liszt interpretation (Sposalizio, for example : th-cam.com/video/XO__MgFGvNo/w-d-xo.html). I hope you'll find him more spiritual! As for me, he is my favourite pianist!

So amazing! Rachmaninoff is one of my favorites and this work is just incredible! The pianist is excellent 👍🏻👏👏
I'm happy someone explained how Variation #18 sounds anything like the Main Theme. I could've never figured it out was "like a mirror."
It'S an inversion. not a "mirror"
I would love it if he teaches a piano class.. He is great!!
He is also a teacher (at Moscow Conservatory, as far as I know).

"and this small episode which I called just "Souvenir de love de Russie". In the fourth concerto in the finale ..."
Dude is so technical. I think if he would be more spiritual he would defenitely be my favourite performer.
