    I came here for some cool aviation knowledge, not a piano recital. The music was a terrible distraction.

    There’s only one Ta152 in existence and it’s at the Smithsonian Institutions Paul Gerber Restoration Facility in storage. It’s criminal that it hasn’t been restored yet as with its advanced age it will just deteriorate. Sadly the Smithsonian seems to be preferring to “Preserve” rather than “Restore” these aircraft as of late. If they aren’t going to restore these ultra rare pieces of aviation history I’d rather see them give them to someone that has the interest in restoring them and putting them on display before all those that have the interest in WWII history are gone.

    The evolution of the piston engine fighter reached a pinacle in WW2..on the boat when the war ended where "Bearcats",(Hellcats on steroids) which could run rings around the Mustangs, wouldve been interesting to see these 2 magnificent fighters square off

    "What was the service ceiling of the highest World War II fighter plane? Not counting modified bombers/recon ships, the experimental Focke-Wulf Ta -152 had a max service ceiling of 15,100 m (49,500 ft) with GM-1 (nitrous oxide) boost. "

    2:30 Cool montage with a little error
    Should be a Ta 152 c of JG 301, with probably never flew, entering the scene from the left but with it s supercharger air intake on the wrong side of the fuselage, these birds were DB 603 powered, only the Jumo engines had their air intakes on the right side.
    Merry Christmas to everyone 😉

    It is pronounced as the individual letters T+A 152 ! Not as the word Tah as this video is pronouncing it.

      also that it is the H version they are talking about not the Ta 152 with shorter wings.

  • @skyboom1961
    @skyboom1961 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The Ta 152 was a great aircraft but what you keep talking about is the H version of the Ta 152, there was Ta 152-0 ( I think, don't quote me on that one ) but also a Ta 152 c, with shorter wings.

      The Ta-152H was not a great aircraft. It was technically a contemporary with allied designs.

    Great video, very informative. We have a lot to learn from that era, amazing engineering. Let's not forget that the first B 52 bombers were powered by ME 262 engines and the head of NASA was none other than Verner Von Braun, brought to the U.S. after W.W. 2 through 'Operation Paperclip'. And before any reader is inclined to label me, I'm a Jew.

      Если серьезно, вы В52 с В36 попутали. В52 дитя времен, когда амерам уже не нужны были немецкие или английские двигатели. А так разработки рейха все дербанили более или менее успешно. США досталось побольше, но и СССР перепало.

      Tom Bower's books, "Blind Eye to Murder" [post-war cover-up of widespread, generalised atrocities in Europe, done mostly by Nazis] and another, "Paperclip Conspiracy", examined selection of those guilty of war crimes but not prosecuted, being deemed useful to the USA.

      "the first B 52 bombers were powered by ME 262 engines" According to WIkipedia, the first B-52s were powered by U.S.-designed YJ57-P-3 engines.

      @@r.j.dunnill1465 Interesting. I'm not a fan of Wikipedia. I got that info from a documentary I watched involving an interview with an engineer who reputedly worked on the B 52 program. I do not dispute your assertion one bit, you may very well be right. After all, I wasn't there at the time. The engineer's contention is that the first three planes flew with the ME 262 engines while the American engines were under development. I'm not making that up, that is what he said.

      Wrong, the long nose FW190D (Dora) were different aircraft. The Ta152 was based on the Dora but a new aircraft with longer fuselage, more advanced powerplant and in the main production version, wider wingspan for high altitude interception.

    Wehraboos need to run for cover. Allies were already producing matching designs and were also able to tweak current designs as needed and were extending older designs in order to overwhelm what remained of the Luftwaffe. The US industrial complex was overwhelming. The Germans were rushing premature designs trying to get them in the air when they were not ready. An interesting design but as usual overengineered and under produced. P-47M's were Hells Angels and no one talks about the M model.
