99 cummins Ram it is likely the shuttle linkage. There is not very much play in the valve so just being slightly out of adjustment causes what you are describing.
I recommend buying the service manual from eBay. They will send you a disk for like 20 bucks. It is worth every penny. It is an on-school service manual in digital black and white .pdfs with images. It would have this info. I don't have my service manual on hand with me right now, but it has that info in it.
I'm interested in buying a tractor/backhoe but nobody in my family or friends has any experience owning these things and I would love some advice. There's a 580c for sale for 10K. Is that a good deal? Are these things reliable if they sit around for years? Is this thing compatible with post hole digger and trencher attachments?
I couldn’t say if that’s a good deal or not without seeing it but it is in the ballpark. They are good machines but like anything else, if they set for a long time they develop problems but they’re usually minor. They really aren’t compatible with attachments. It could technically be done but it’s not worth it.

Cool backhoe, we have one too. Mine likes to slowly creep into reverse when in forward. Think the shuttle linkage or trans needs some work

I’m draining all the hydraulic oil to change it along with the filter I want to know how many gallons of hydraulic oil I need to replace
